Indigenous Beading: We're beading the turtle from the creation story known as Skywoman. This creation story is shared by many Indigenous people in North America, including Potawatomi, Mohawk, Haudenosaunee, Oneida. The land we're on in Bloomington is part of the Potawatomi's ancestral homelands. The beading technique we're using for the turtle shell is called "return stitch." It is a relatively new form of appliqué beading and a simplification of two-needle appliqué as it only requires one needle.

I repeated the pattern between the pewter spacers 9 times. three colors- blue, purple, green. then a frosted glass bead and a clear glass bead.

Green and White glass necklace with gold findings. The white glass is crackled. I bought the beads loving the way that they naturally twine around each other. I desperately want to keep this one, but this color green looks horrific on me. I'll be selling it, but will miss the coolness of these beads.
