After sewing all the beaded edging on the skirt, this was all the embellishing I could manage on the cardy.
This is the result of the first beading workshop I attended back in November 2010. I decided to go all out for glitz.

Indigenous Beading: We're beading the turtle from the creation story known as Skywoman. This creation story is shared by many Indigenous people in North America, including Potawatomi, Mohawk, Haudenosaunee, Oneida. The land we're on in Bloomington is part of the Potawatomi's ancestral homelands. The beading technique we're using for the turtle shell is called "return stitch." It is a relatively new form of appliqué beading and a simplification of two-needle appliqué as it only requires one needle.
