Compositionally Challenged Week 38 - Clothing Photography

CC Rainbow Game - Blue

Rain beading nicely on the very clean bonnet of a shiny black Mercedes parked at the Rundle Place carpark. This felt appropriate for the day of the QEII funeral, which will be around 7pm Australian time.

Macro Monday theme: pastel

You can see here how razor thin that DoF is with the macro converter and the lens wide open !

The rain has made for a miserable morning here, quite heavy and very breezy.

Couldn't have said it better myself Just remind me......

I shot this macro right after a light rain. It was interesting how the water was beading up on this leaf. I don't know the plant, but it's interesting to have red edges.

This work is from a series of large-scale beaded sculptures that incorporate computer-produced genetic data patterns-or DNA/RNA microarrays - from diseases disproportionately affecting Indigenous communities. These patterns are transformed into loom-woven glass bead burden straps as an act of data sovereignty. Combining these culturally relevant Indigenous art forms and beading techniques with DNA analysis raises awareness of the institutionalized health disparities that exist for Native people.

This elegant pendant is embroidered with metallic-pearly green and metallic-pearly purple Japanese glass seed beads and cream glass pearls around a green crystal cabochon and hangs from a gorgeous tubular brick-stitched choker. The pendant measures 6.5 cm x 11 cm (c. 2 ½” x 4 ¼”) to the end of the fringe. The choker is 40.5 cm (c. 16”) and is finished with a bead-woven toggle and loop.

I entered this piece in the EtsyBeadweavers June challenge "Anything Goes". Voting starts on the 7th June and lasts 1 week. Go visit etsy-beadweavers.blogspot.com/ and vote for your favourite piece from a selection of wonderful beadwork.

The seated lady in the white cap conducts a class in beading at a Masai villiage in Tanzania. Glass beads reached East Africa from India well before they were imported into North America and used by Native Americans. Today Masai and other African tribes make beaded jewelry for extra income.

Deep pinks and silver combine to make this one of a kind beadwoven necklace. I used a large Swarovski crystal rivoli as the center of my fan pendant. Off the crystal are beadwoven arms that flare outward with the same pink color rondelles. Connecting each beadwoven rope section is a short chain of sterling silver. The clasp is a sterling silver hook and loop.

This beadwoven necklace measures approximately 22 inches(55.88cm).

An adaptation of my Katie's Collar beading instructions

There was very little of merit at the Whole Bead Show in Manhattan last weekend. Many of the vendors were carrying the same beads. Very few lampwork artists did this show. Hoping to see them at the bead show in April.

Anna was extremely uncomfortable with me doing this shot as it required me to lean on her boobs for steadiness. But it turned out well and is a pretty good showcase for her hottt beading skillz.

beading...

As you can see, I had a rather large order for snails last month, all commissioned by Gigiholy. There are ten in all, six msd sized and four pukifee sized, with pearls. They’re designed to be worn as head parts but since they’re magnetic they ‘stick’ to Fairyland’s hands/wrists and each other. Each one was given a special color scheme to match each of her dolls. Such a cute idea. ^__^

Fusso soft light wax, beading on my BMW a couple of weeks after it was applied.

and then he whipped this string of beads around and around saying he was giving the beads helicopter rides, hee heeeee. i love the way he easily vacillates between stillness and action.

I had the sketch of this one done a while back but never got around to do the coloring. I spent the time doing the beads and the shadow and capturing how beads would shine in the light. I think it turned out pretty good. =D

A friend at work handed me the exquisite rose quartz cabochon with the brief to do "something" with it. Inspired by Eni Oken's woven bezel it created this.

It reminds me of cherry blossoms for some reason.....but also of one of those ornate oval mirrors......

Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all.....

Woke up on the first day of Autumn to a wonderful dense fog. I spent over an hour traipsing around the yard enjoying the dew that covered everything. I was enamored with all of the spider lace work.

A large Black Swan , face to face.

I made this carving to use for a journal cover. I stamped it in black ink onto a tan-colored piece of leather and am beading some of the flowers and leaves. This will then become the cover of a handmade journal. It is my first beading project, so it is a little slow-going. I will post the completed image once the beading is done.

the pineapple is a big deal here in Va, and you can't go many places w/o seeing one!
