A couple of years ago, just for fun, I made a few small novelty bags. This one is made from pockets and trimmings from a pair of jeans.

Why lug your precious bento in a plastic bag when you can help the environment AND make everyone jealous with this bento bag? :D
Better yet, 100% of all proceeds will benefit Indie bands With A Mission, an informal organization trying to raise money to help out food banks in the Washington DC area during these tough times.
Unfortunately, our etsy account has not yet been set up due to one of the founders moving to LA and not yet having a definite address :'( Hopefully, everything will be up and running (aka we'll be able to start selling our crafts on etsy) once a definite address in LA is worked out.
In the meantime, feel free to check out our other products on Flickr, as well as our Facebook group, or evenadd us as a contact! We'll try not to disappoint, and remember, each product sold will slowly HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE :)

Inspired by the vintage 40s to 70s scandinavian porcelain where strong but muted colors and simple shapes look great together. My mother used to have some cheerful cups decorated with fruit and berries and some other very dark brown with simple shapes hand painted with soft brush. They all reminded me from the big garden she used to have, filled with nature's treasures. This bag is about shadows and sunny spots in the garden, the feel of a warm summer day, the real countryside experience where life shows its best.
Half.Jak tagged me and I was chuffed because I'm like, never tagged, and then... I never did it. Durhur. SO HERE IT IS. My bag has just changed actually, it was a little yellow one, but I got sick of my being able to carry everything around.
I TAG ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DO IT. NEVER FEEL LEFT OUT! FEEL THE WINDS OF CHANGE.

The Mr's new bag. I am pretty happy with the end result even though the bottom is a bit wonky. A couple more pics in my photostream.
Made using the pattern Date Night Purse by Dog Under my Desk. Blogged: normasbagboutique.blogspot.com/2014/07/first-date-night-p...
I really love this purse, the pattern is very easy and quick. I did a lot of modifications, I crocheted more rows, so the bag is bigger. And I made the handle longer.
Pattern:
When I was still in school, I'd have a few notebooks, a Pokemon folder, and a planner. Now that I've graduated, it's a lot more spacious.
A knitted bag which has been embellished with thread, fabric and machine embroidery.
The label is an old theatre ticket which has been adapted.
I use soft bags when travelling these days, because the airlines have to try harder to break them. Additionally I normally get enough into a carry on bag, so I don't have to check it in.
However I wouldn't go so far as to tie a pink ribbon on it to make it easily identifyable if I did, so I had to resort to Rumblemumbles wardrobe to get this little charmer.

The problem with this subject is the dark case.
Exposure for the dark cover gave me the proper colour of the ribbon, but exposure for more texture of the case gave me a washed out ribbon colour, and as the pink is the flash of colour in an oterhwise boring shot I had to get a mix of both exposures.
So I used a tripod and the 100mm macro to take a shot at f22 0.8sec and another at f22 1.3sec. This gave me both colour and texture.
Open both images in PS and copy the light (texture) image as a layer above the dark one, so you are effectively looking down through the top layer to the bottom layer.
At this point, you can't see any bottom layer as it is completely blocked by the top.
Use the eraser with a soft edge brush (for sweeter blending) and erase the top layer just where the pink ribbon is, so that you look down through the "hole" of the ribbon in the top layer to the rich pink of the ribbon in the bottom layer, but still seeing the texture of the bag in the top layer.
Sorry to those that are familiar with this, but the explanation is for those who are not familiar with layers.
Then you can flatten the layers into a single image, add a border and save it.
Simple and effective (I hope).
Not my typical bag contents. Usually a blank book, a zillion more pens, ibuprofen, random scraps of paper, and other "junk."
I Love how this turned out. It is 17 inches long and 8 inches tall. I had to have the fabric, I just love it.
As I wrote earlier, I have been ill.
All day.
Jools is feeling tip top, so while I lay hovering close to death laying in my pit, she went to the gym for a workout, then, on the way back gets me a coffee from Starbucks opposite the hotel. Opposite and down a bit, then to the left. But close enough.
I drink that pretty quick, but I am not feeling very sharp at all.
So after Jools has a shower, she goes out for a wander and I stay in bed, listening to the radio, whilst my stomach empties.
And by one in the afternoon, I was feeling more human, so I began to think about what to do when Jools came back. And at just gone two, I see her in her coat coming back, carrying a huge cup of coffee for me.
She has been out on the L, going to various points she knew not where, as got lost twice, but had a good time.
What did I want to do?
Ride the L of course.
She sighs. Well, she put the idea in my head.
At quarter to three we go out, walk three blocks to the subway, where three bucks gets us one trip, to anywhere in the system.
We take two stops, then get out and go to the street onto the L, where I am happy as anything, standing at the very back of the train, snapping the scene as the train headed south.
After three stops, and going round a tight curve at a junction, of which I get pictures. And I am happy.
We get off and wander along the streets, stopping off at a health food place for a bag of chips and some juice.
I felt a little better.
Walk some more, back over the river, on a road that ran parallel with Michigan, as the designer shops and crowds are so boring.
After a few blocks, I see a tap room, and I am thirsty, so go over for a pint of porter. Which hits the spot, but goes straight to my head.
Of course.
Meanwhile, the dark clouds that had swept over the city in the afternoon were now producing light rain, and we scuttled north getting closer to the hotel.
We come to a bbq place, and I say, shall we eat here? I mean, its nearly five, eat early, back in our room and relax?
So we do.
Jools has a half baby back rib and I have brisket, both of which were good. Stunning to me who had not eaten in some 22 hours.
As ever, the food came with a side, and we also asked for onion rings. A small mountain of those came, which we made a fair dent in.
The ribs and brisket were stunning, the best of either I have had. So a win there.
But we left so much food as we both had had enough. It will get trashed.
The rain had stopped, so we walk back to the hotel in the thinning crowds as the time approached half six, and back in our room soon after.
Tomorrow, things will change, somewhat....
