I thought my younger son was the messiest eater ever, but I was wrong. This one wins that prize. She's had just one bite here....and it's already all over the dress, in the hair, on the chin....sigh. It's a good thing she got over that bath aversion;)
The Nut and Raisin bread was from Terra. A perfectly ripe and firm Avocado sliced and salted, with the Mediterranean ant pesto from the Greek store Parthenon. This was a filing evening snack. The Avocado goes really with the rich buttered bread, tenderly toasted. And the ant pesto provides a good contrast. I recommend this dish.
Mahi Mahi filet with quequisque scales. Avacado emulsion, baby corns, rolled pepper slices, and that caviar looking stuff is somehow black olives.

Grilled onions, avacado, smoked mozzarella cheese, lettuce and tomato round out the English muffin burgers.
This was my first "official" solid food day. i had avacado mashed up with some breastmilk. (that was daddy's idea, but mommy's not sure if maybe that made the avacado too desirable...hrm)
I had solid food before (also avacado) when daddy was gone, but it was such a small piece and i didn't really eat it (i gummed it and mommy fished more out than she put in, she swears)...so this was the "official" first food time. i did great! but mommy isn't too excited about the prospect of solids and all that comes with it. so i'm still mostly a milk drinking baby :) (and i'm likely to stay that way, sorry Gee-gee!)

Longitudinal section through the Ovary
A longitudinal section through an avocado ovary is a good example of the final phase in angiosperm reproduction, the fruit to seed phase. After the flower is fertilized, the embryo begins to mature and transform into the seed while the ovary wall develops to form the fruit. Depending on the type of avocado, it can take from 6 to 18 months for the fruit to mature.
I believe that the developing fruit has two primary functions. The first is to house and protect the seed and the other is to assist in the process of seed dispersal. In my opinion, the flesh (mesocarp) of the fruit has evolved to become as delicious as it is today because it is such a successful method for seed dispersal. Avocados are cultivated all around the world today because of their creamy center, and in a way insures the survival of the avocado.

I'm gonna try to upload atleast one picture from each week from now on. I really miss shooting digital.
Last night was asian night in our apartment.
We went to Walmart to get jugs for our photo chemicals, &we somehow ended up in the 'asian food' aisle.
We (mostly he) made cream cheese rangoon, egg fried rice, &sushi.
So yummy. :]
All the other pictures I took in film. :[
Sourced from Whiteladies road farmers market, mostly. Been missing out on my Saturday morning special bagel for a while. I don't deserve the reward yet, but it boosts my spirits, on with the work now.
this is a burger made w/ mostly nuts & tomato on top of some lettuce, tomato, sprouts, avacado & marinated mushrooms...topped w/ guacamole & a few olives on the side. i topped it w/ another couple pieces of lettuce & made a sandwich of sorts. the burger isn't the greatest, i'm following recipe's exactly to see what they taste like. i'll experiment more later. :)
everything but the olives are raw...i think i found raw olives at whole foods though, so will pick those up the next time i'm there.
spicy avacado salad inside (basic recipe below) / veggie furikake on top
- mayo
- sriracha to taste
- mirin for sweetness
- small amounts of chopped grape tomatoes, red pepper or any veggie to add texture and color
- bit of salt
- yummy green onion
i added some tuna to the leftovers for my own eating purposes. this stuff is tasty but i still don't see what all the fuss about mayo is. lots of added fat with no added taste .. what?
