In Scotland farmers call them "dreels." I used to tip toe and trip myself up between them until the farmer laughed and told me I could roll on them if I felt so inclined. (I'm paraphrasing for this family channel.) It didn't matter a hill of beans what anyone did after the wheat had been cut.

We took Jasper to Boyce Thompson Arboretum recently. It's about 45 minutes from our home and starting in May, they open at 6AM so we can get there when it's still cool. Lots looming right now. Good birding as well. As usual, Jasper tried to pull us back into the park as we exited. But a promise of play when we got home got him to reluctantly go to the car. A family selfie in the first comment.

At last a lovely morning for a walk in Dunham Park with a low sun sending rays through the trees.
