There is nothing more lovely than a walk in early spring when the world is shaking off the cobwebs of winter, and it feels good just to be alive!

In beauty I walk
With beauty before me I walk 5 With beauty behind me I walk
With beauty above me I walk With beauty around me I walk It has become beauty again. Part of this favorite poem.

in our local BIG park. We were expecting heavy grey skies this year, but we were blessed with this wonderful light ! I have still to cook our Christmas meal - so I'm rushing to get this on before starting the real cooking !
Hope you've had a lovely Christmas Day so far (it's not over yet) - a lovely time whatever you are celebrating, and that you are suffused with good feelings.
My heart goes out to those who find Christmas and the New Year a lonely and difficult time. We are so lucky to be visiting family tomorrow - I am a lucky woman!
Thanks so much for all your support, as always... you know how I value each and every one of you. I am sorry if I can't always keep up with you !

Skywalk, Phönix West in Dortmund

Poor weather prevented me from getting any shots last weekend, despite a three hour walk in 45mph winds. So this is one from my archive. I took this early on in my photography journey. Not a shot I'm super proud of but I do like a gnarly old tree and a bit of moss :))
Ain't it Grand! :-) Really tough light and no clouds, but I don't care, what an amazing hike. When you clear the trees the mountain just appears and it looks so unusually HUGE from there.
If you look closely you can see Fremont Fire Lookout sitting atop the tall peak on the left, brought another big grin to my face.
I hiked this last year and was completely engulfed in fog, never saw ANYTHING, this is about where I gave up and not long after I turned back lightning lit up the fog and thunder rolled long and deep.....then came the hail..... :-)
Fremont Peak Fire Lookout in comments with it's view of Grand Park, so cool! :-)
Today's walk was sunny if breezy and the butterflies and bumblebees were out in force

This young masked lapwing was one of two lapwing chicks that I posted two months ago and I am pleased to report, they are both doing extra well. Life in our retirement village is just a walk in the park for them!
From a local walk where I take the dogs frequently. The shade was heaven during a very hot day.
I am now travelling for the next few days so will catch up with everyone as working form Arizona for the next month
View to Brooklyn Bridge, East River, Carousel Jane and Manhattan.
DAMBO is decoded as Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass though the name now incorporates the whole area next to Brooklyn Bridge too. In the past, it was a busy port neighborhood in Brooklyn. Since then, many warehouses have been converted to offices or residential buildings.
