BJDs go for a walk in the woods

Random shot of mother & son in woods

My son was the one to spot this bit of fungus, extending like a small shelf on a fallen tree.

The walk-in shower has his & hers shower heads and jets, and fish fossils (dug by myself in Wyoming several years ago) tiled into the dark blue band around the shower.

She walks in beauty like the night

of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that's best of dark and bright

meets in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellow'd to that tender light

which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

had half impair'd the nameless grace

which waves in every raven tress,

or softly lightens o'er her face -

where thoughts serenely sweet express

how pure, how dear their dwelling - place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,

so soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

the smiles that win, the tints that glow,

but tells in days of goodness spent,

a mind at peace with all below,

a heart whose love is innocent.

Walk in Frogner Park

One of the advantages of the tube shutting down is that we get to walk through Regents Park on the way home

Painting 6: “A Walk in the Park” Back in the day, Dad did a lot of hiking in the Sierra Nevada’s and Yosemite. Now his mobility is limited, but with enough encouragement he can be motivated to use his walker. Ruth has been very good at keeping him on his feet, and at one time she was able to get him out for daily walks. His physical health is good except for the lack of strength and frequent falls. There are still remnants of his true character and even a bit of humor from time to time. Sometimes his face lights up when he sees us, and on a good day we are able to pull up good memories from the murky green pond in the park.

Oxford has many gargoyles and grotesques. Gargoyles were originally created to throw water away from buildings (and still do). The word comes from the old French ‘gargouille’ – meaning throat. Grotesques are carved heads, usually having no function, but often they are images of notable people. Grotesques can be mistaken for gargoyles, especially since they are at times placed where they might be thought to be performing a gargoyle’s function
