The company I work for, Thinkmap, threw their annual party last friday. (YAY!) This year, we projected a reverse Visual Thesaurus animation onto our meeting room 'glass garage door', which made it look like a giant plasma screen. Pretty cool, check it out here.

From the monastery church of San Millan de la Cogolla, near Logrono
This plaque is an exceptionally rare example of a precisely documented medieval work of art. It is part of an extensive narrative cycle depicting the life of St. Aemilianus from his shrine at San Millan dela Cogolla, which was patronized by the king and queen of Navarra. Aemilianus, a 6th century shepherd who became a hermit on Mount Disterii, was believed to have worked several miracles. Illustrated here are the saint attending his flocks and God calling him to the mountain. The scenes are taken directly from the written life of the saint, and are a rare instance of a literary account being translated in visual narrative without any reliance on pictorial models. The rich treatment of the forms, most evident in the carved, engraved, and drilling surface details, resulting in a style that is both decorative - probably influenced by Islamic art - and sculptural.
