This was a drawing I did for a class I had in college. It is a perspective drawing. I used art markers to color it.
Abanindranath Tagore once remarked, ‘Is an artist obliged only to paint?’ The surge of creativity may often hurtle an artist into different media of expression. In his youth, Rabindranath Tagore also light-heartedly wrote that he did not intend to disappoint any of the ‘muses’, that he longed to try his hand at everything, even painting. This is how a poet wants to step outside poetry and an artist wishes to explore beyond painting. In the history of art and literature there are numerous such instances of border-crossing.
Visual Rhapsody is a fascinating tale of this cross-over. A collection of poems, drawings and paintings by twenty three trail-blazing Bengali artists, it captures the essence of the Art of Bengal in poetic and visual format as it has never been depicted before. Wanting to then develop the sketches further still I did some research into colour charts and contrasting colours to add more atmosphere.
I had seen a graphic artist using paint-splats before so trialled incorporating them into the design. I felt the splat added much more emphasis and dramatics to the piece so it became a fixed development.

Here I have continued to look at the work of Kurt Jackson. I have also created a design idea inspired by his work.
Every week we do a day of visual studies, as a class we all hung our garments up on to a washing line to draw from, these are 1 minute drawings of two different shirts using white and black ink.
