On top of Maple Mountain, the third highest peak in Ontario, stands an old fire tower from a bygone era. Legend has it that on a clear night foot steps can be heard ascending the ladder.
I didn't stick around to find out.
I was in my blind videoing a bird bathing when I heard the loud complaint of a Great Egret as a second bird chased him from his hunting spot. We have exactly one Egret that stays here each winter, but occasionally a second bird will arrive, and there is always a territorial dispute. I only caught his landing, but thought it was so graceful in slow-motion that it was worth sharing.
Video from High Rock. It's 1800 ft above sea level. I believe that it's the highest section of the Appalachian Trail in Maryland.

I haven't quite got the hang of music to videos and unfortunately the last second was cut off because it was too long. But here's my boy and his strange handjive - this time to music.

"Sie bezeichnen die Lobpreisungen des Glücks zumindest teilweise als asozial. Wie meinen Sie das genau?
Schmid: Wie das vorhin schon angeklungen ist: wenn Menschen sich in ihrem Leben nach subjektiver Sicht sehr glücklich und zufrieden fühlen, dann wollen sie nicht gerne, dass sich da etwas ändert, sie wehren sich, wenn man ihr Glück infrage stellt. Das sind dann oftmals Menschen, die gar nicht mehr die Nachrichten im Fernsehen einschalten, weil sie so viel Unglück auf der Welt gar nicht an sich rankommen lassen wollen. Deswegen nenne ich das asozial. Das heißt, es geht um die gefährliche Tendenz, dass man sich abwendet von den Seiten des Lebens und der Gesellschaft, die einem nicht passen. Davon werden die gesellschaftlichen Verhältnisse allerdings nicht besser.

Aber wenn einer so beschäftigt ist damit Teppiche zu weben unter die man viel kehren kann und mit denen man verdecken kann, behübschen kann, hat er für sowas natürlich keine Zeit - außerdem schreibt er weben ist leben und leben ist weben - also kümmert ihn das natürlich nicht....

Hello folks, today I present to you Explore exposed. It took 5 stock images for one of them to be featured. That's right, you read that correctly. The reason I used stock photos for this investigation was because I didn't have any throw-away photographs to use. This, in turn, exposes how broken the system really is. It's not an actual admin selecting your photograph. If it was, they would run a reverse image search to be sure the photo they are selecting doesn't belong to anyone else. I can see the text in the bot catcher as clear as day. How it evaded the 55 commenters is beyond me. Unless, of course, if they are bot users.
First thing you might of noticed was a fantastic maze that was hand drawn on the beach using a stick and a water bottle as a
measuring tool.
The rest is the "Strand" beach in Morro Bay, ca. on a September evening.

A rhinoceros, from Greek rhinokerōs, meaning 'nose-horned', from rhis, meaning 'nose', and keras, meaning 'horn'), commonly abbreviated to rhino, is one of any five extant species of odd-toed ungulates in the family Rhinocerotidae, as well as any of the numerous extinct species therein. Two of the extant species are native to Africa, and three to Southern Asia. The term rhinoceros is often more broadly applied to now extinct species of the superfamily Rhinocerotoidea. Members of the rhinoceros family are some of the largest remaining megafauna, with all species able to reach or exceed one tonne in weight. They have a herbivorous diet, small brains (400–600 g) for mammals of their size, one or two horns, and a thick (1.5–5 cm) protective skin formed from layers of collagen positioned in a lattice structure. The Australian wood duck, maned duck or maned goose (Chenonetta jubata) is a dabbling duck found throughout much of Australia. It is the only living species in the genus Chenonetta. This 45–51 cm duck looks like a small goose, and feeds mostly by grazing in flocks. The male is grey with a dark brown head and mottled breast. The female has white stripes above and below the eye and mottled underparts. Both sexes have grey wings with black primaries and a white speculum. Juveniles are similar to adult females, but lighter and with a more streaky breast. The Australian wood duck is widespread in Australia, including Tasmania. The Australian wood duck is found in grasslands, open woodlands, wetlands, flooded pastures and along the coast in inlets and bays. It is also common on farmland with dams, as well as around rice fields, sewage ponds and in urban parks.
