Over the last several days, there has been what they call a "parade" of storm systems rolling through - and today was the biggest one. I actually had to turn down the volume on the first clip because the rain hit the window SOOO loud!! Beach walks are on hold for the moment. As you can see, there is very dangerous high surf as well - and this was filmed close to low tide. An exciting day! And I really had fun capturing it with the Nikon D750 this time.

Rainbow lorikeets are true parrots, within the Psittacoidea superfamily in the order Psittaciformes. The rainbow lorikeet or lorikeet (common name) is a species of parrot found in Australia. It is common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. They are true parrots of medium-size, with the length ranging from 25 to 30 cm, including the tail. The weight varies from 75 to 157 g. The plumage of the nominate race, as with all subspecies, is very bright. The head is deep blue with a greenish-yellow nuchal collar, and the rest of the upper parts (wings, back and tail) are green. The chest is orange/yellow. The belly is deep blue, and the thighs and rump are green. In flight a yellow wing-bar contrasts clearly with the red underwing coverts.
Gordonia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Theaceae, related to Franklinia, Camellia and Stewartia. Of the roughly 40 species, all but two are native to southeast Asia in southern China, Taiwan and Indochina. They are evergreen trees, growing to 10–20 m tall. The bark is thick and deeply fissured. The leaves are alternately arranged, simple, serrated, thick, leathery, glossy, and 6–18 cm long. The flowers are large and conspicuous, 4–15 cm diameter, with 5 (occasionally 6-8) white petals; flowering is in late winter or early spring. The species are adapted to acidic soils, and do not grow well on chalk or other calcium-rich soils. They also have a high rainfall requirement and will not tolerate drought. S20N_838

Tengah est né le 17 novembre 2014 au zoo de Beauval. Comme tous les tapirs, il adore qu'on lui gratouille le ventre ce qui le met dans un état de transe.. qui facilite les examens et les soins éventuels.
Le tapir malais est un animal solitaire. Il vit toujours près d’un point d’eau, qui est essentiel à sa survie : il y passe de longues heures à se rafraîchir et les accouplements ont lieu dans l’eau. Plutôt nocturne, il va passer la plupart de la journée à dormir ou se reposer, jusqu’à plus de 12h/jour. La population sauvage de tapirs malais est aujourd’hui estimée à moins de 2500 individus. Cet effectif inquiétant est en grande partie lié à la déforestation galopante. S’ajoute à ce désastre la chasse illégale.

A group of male blue-banded bees, Amegilla cingulata about to roost for the night. New arrivals are trying to find roosting spots. It surprises me that they can spare the energy to squabble over roosting sites quite so actively.
About three quarters of the bees have found a roosting spot. Most of the others will end up nesting on this twig but one or two may end up roosting on their own on a nearby twig. For more information about blue-banded bees see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amegilla_cingulata
This video was taken a day later and at a later time of day than the previous video. I used a higher ISO setting for this video because the light levels were quite low. This is why it is grainier than the previous video. It was quite windy when I was taking the video.

It's funny because after seeing a picture of a Monarch recently,I was hoping I'd see one this year.It's been about five years since I've encountered some.Lucky for me,I saw this one fluttering about.Where?At a city garden in my own neck of the woods in Brooklyn!There were four of them in the garden.

Le sentier du littoral à Saint-Raphaël
Le départ se fait depuis le Port Santa Lucia, à la sortie du centre-ville de Saint-Raphaël en direction d'Agay. Suivre le sentier balisé et laissez vous émerveiller par des vues spectaculaires sur le Lion de Mer, l'Île d'Or et le piton du Dramont. A chaque détour révèle la beauté naturelle de la région méditerranéenne. J'ai adoré et à chaque fois je renouvelle une expérience inoubliable.
Au fait, une randonnée cela se prépare et nécessite un équipement adapté ainsi que de la vigilance, certains rochers côtiers sont parfois glissants et ont des arêtes qui peuvent blesser.

Follow the marked trail and be amazed by the spectacular views of the Lion de Mer, the Île d’Or and the Piton du Dramont. Every turn reveals the natural beauty of the Mediterranean region. I loved it and each time I have an unforgettable experience.
By the way, a hike requires preparation and requires suitable equipment as well as vigilance; certain coastal rocks are sometimes slippery and have edges that can cause injury.
