Monarch Butterfly Eclosing after 10-14 days in chrysalis
Eclose time: approx 30 sec
Monarch Butterflies raised in a controlled situation on an outside milkweed plant that was netted so caterpillars inside it would form a 'J' and then a chrysalis inside the plant area. 10 to 14 days later the butterfly would eclose (emerge) from the chrysalis to view. After one or more hours its wings would be dry and hard enough for flight.
This was a fascinating and fun adventure for me. I learned a lot along the way . . . . . . 21 Monarch Butterflies later.
I finally bought QuickTimePro so I could edit and upload videos without having to flood my photostream with pix for a slideshow.
Gal Costa is a Brazilian singer who I adore, she was famous when I moved to the beautiful Salvador, Brazil, where she is from and I was lucky enough to go to her concerts and even meet her in person. Her voice was spectacular with an outstanding range and she was an animated and lively artist, a pure joy to listen to and see, she will be missed!

Ice discs, ice circles, ice pans, or ice crepes are a very rare natural phenomenon that occurs in slow moving water in cold climates. They are thin circular slabs of ice that rotate slowly on a body of water's surface. (wikipedia) This disc formed in the South Thompson River in Kamloops BC during the week of January 20, 2020. The time-lapse video was taken at one frame per -second, or approximately (?) 30 times normal speed.
This is the second and final set of waterfalls at Gillis lake, directly across the road from the smaller set. This one can be pretty dangerous to reach as it is surrounded by cliffs on both sides that are nearly dead drops. If you visit this one make sure to bring some proper hiking boots that grip well and be prepared to hold on to tree roots as you make a 25 foot decline down the cliffs.
