My first attempt of shooting a video and uploading it to Flickr. As long as it took, I doubt if I do this very often! It is a little shaky, but I hope you still enjoy viewing it. It's fun to watch the hummers take turns at taking their morning baths in our small waterfall in our back yard.

When we drove to Warrenton on Wednesday, I looked for the white pelicans on the old pilings in Young's Bay along West Marine Drive. They were empty.
To my delight, when I went by today, a mere four days later, there they were!
Afternoon is their nap time, as is evident from this video. It is remarkable how in almost all cases the fidgety pelicans are on the bay side of the racks while the ones who want 40 winks are on the other end.
Do you suppose the same pelicans go back to the same piling every time?

Our sweet little man comes to us often for snuggles, but he tends to get overstimulated after a while. Having kickers around are a good outlet for him to vent his frustration, plus he’s adorable when he uses them!

Le "Chat forestier", "chat sylvestre" ou "chat sauvage d’Europe" (Felis silvestris silvestris) : On le trouve dans toute l'Europe. Tigré, d'apparence il ressemble au chat domestique dit "de gouttière", un gros chat : 5 kg pour le mâle et 3,5 kg pour la femelle en moyenne. Très difficile à observer, des chats harets (chats domestiques vivant à l'état sauvage) sont fréquemment pris pour des chats sylvestres. L'hybridation avec le chat domestique est un autre problème pour la conservation de l'espèce, outre les menaces qui pèsent sur son milieu naturel.
En France, sa présence est avérée dans toute la chaîne des Pyrénées ainsi que dans un large quart Nord-Est suivant un axe Nord-Sud du département Nord à la Corrèze, et un axe Ouest-Est de la Corrèze à la Savoie. Sa présence est probable mais non certaine dans trois départements limitrophes de son implantation : Indre-et-Loire, Vienne et Haute Vienne.
Le chat forestier est considéré comme menacé au niveau européen et, depuis les années 1970, c'est une espèce protégée sur l'ensemble de son aire de répartition.
Le chat sauvage ou chat sylvestre n'est pas apprivoisable.

Eastern Screech Owl
The Eastern Screech Owl or Eastern screech-owl (Megascops asio) is a small owl that is relatively common in Eastern North America, from Mexico to Canada. This species is native to most wooded environments of its distribution and, more so than any other owl in its range, has adapted well to manmade development, although it frequently avoids detection due to its strictly nocturnal habits.

I bought a point and shoot (Nikon P7000, but that's enough of tech-talk). With me all the time I am using for grabshots/snapshots, call them what you will.
Hopefully as I shoot each day with it I will see something worth exploring with my DSLR. Plus as I get more used to the spontenous shot, versus the more considered DSLR shot, I will hopefully see an improvement overall in my images. Who knows. Anyone even still reading? I bet you are surprised to know I consider my other shots considered :)
The process
1) Shoot everyday
2) Delete the truly awful on a Sunday
3) Take the rest and make into a Flickr-video
4) Add a great backing track so your visit was not a complete waste.
A brain/image dump! Much, to be honest, is just shapes and colours that piqued my interest in the week.

Boulders Beach – Pinguine Kolonie
Von Muizenberg aus führt nun die M4 weiter nach Süden in Richtung Simons Town.
Kurz nach Simons Town verweist ein Schild auf den Boulders Beach. Hier liegt in einer geschützten Bucht eine der bekanntesten Kolonien Afrikanischer Pinguine. Die Kolonie ist seit 1982 mit anfangs zwei brütenden Paaren inzwischen auf etwa 2.500 Tiere angewachsen.
