This beauty is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found in Syria, the Palestinian Territories, Israel, Armenia, Iran and Turkey.

This video opens with two young of Common Loon in their all-brown plumage, making some tentative head-dipping moves toward fending on their own by diving to find food. Then their two parents appear on the scene, diving repeatedly and bringing a steady supply of food to their growing offspring. This evocative sequence happened not far from the major city of Calgary, in southern Alberta, Canada.
Gal Costa is a Brazilian singer who I adore, she was famous when I moved to the beautiful Salvador, Brazil, where she is from and I was lucky enough to go to her concerts and even meet her in person. Her voice was spectacular with an outstanding range and she was an animated and lively artist, a pure joy to listen to and see, she will be missed!

A brilliant aurora from a coronal hole on the sun lead to a week of aurora this was the first night. 1700 still images, over 5 hours of shooting, clouds ruined the crecendo but I persevered and moved to a better pond after. Watch in HD
Cette année, mes petites Bernaches nonnettes ont eu 6 petits et 4 ont survécus !
Comme d'habitude, je les retrouves sur les berges de La Thièle et elles viennent brouter à mes pieds ! C'est que du bonheur :-)

Acronicta americana
Grosse chenille poilue blanche ou jaune pâle. Elle a la tête noire, quatre pinceaux noirs fins à l'avant du corps et un à l'arrière. Lorsqu'on la dérange, elle s'enroule en boule. Elle est présente de la mi-juillet à septembre et dévore les feuilles en solitaire.

Intermède au Parc des Félins
Le "Chat forestier", "chat sylvestre" ou "chat sauvage d’Europe" (Felis silvestris silvestris) : On le trouve dans toute l'Europe. Tigré, d'apparence il ressemble au chat domestique dit "de gouttière", un gros chat : 5 kg pour le mâle et 3,5 kg pour la femelle en moyenne. Très difficile à observer, des chats harets (chats domestiques vivant à l'état sauvage) sont fréquemment pris pour des chats sylvestres. L'hybridation avec le chat domestique est un autre problème pour la conservation de l'espèce, outre les menaces qui pèsent sur son milieu naturel.
En France, sa présence est avérée dans toute la chaîne des Pyrénées ainsi que dans un large quart Nord-Est suivant un axe Nord-Sud du département Nord à la Corrèze, et un axe Ouest-Est de la Corrèze à la Savoie. Sa présence est probable mais non certaine dans trois départements limitrophes de son implantation : Indre-et-Loire, Vienne et Haute Vienne.
Le chat forestier est considéré comme menacé au niveau européen et, depuis les années 1970, c'est une espèce protégée sur l'ensemble de son aire de répartition.
Le chat sauvage ou chat sylvestre n'est pas apprivoisable.

Comme on peut le voir ici, si la crue affecte les activités liées au fleuve, son niveau, un peu plus élevé cette année, reste dans la norme des crues de printemps. En regard des images terribles qu'on voit à la TV, je ne veux pas donner l'impression fausse d'une situation critique à Paris. Seule une partie des berges et des quais bas est touchée. Toutes les installations techniques qui pourraient souffrir de la crue sont soit amovibles et mises à l'abri soit situées à un niveau plus élevé et protégées. Des infiltrations dans des caves et sous-sols faisant toutefois partie des aléas récurrents.

This is my chipmunk friend who would come over and take peanuts from my hand. The six originals were taken at different times during the summer months (years ago). I held one hand open with the peanuts and my Elph camera with the other.
