HELL-o witches and b*tches! For those of us that still use Flickr, this is a tribute, a homage, a farewell - not just to our favorite famous teenage witch: Sabrina Spelman, whom of this look and cosplay (I'll admittedly say) is of because Netflix has released the final part and final season of the show. But this is also the last set of pictures I'm uploading on Flickr... ever.

Granted, I'm nearing my free 1000 uploads so here's that, but this is also the final photoshoot and set I've done in 2020.

Shoutout to Flickr for being a portfolio for me to showcase and show the progress of the work throughout the years from my first experience of picking up a camera and editing stunning visuals.

Was one of those nice days, where I just wanted to go for a car ride. So I got out and headed North, taking pictures where ever I wanted to stop, and photograph something. With the sun shining, and the temperature not overbearing. I was on my way. Photographing friends, and people enjoying the summer. From eating Ice Cream, to tubers floating down the lazy river.From Vine covered barns, to scenery of some northern woods. This is one of those rare found photos with complete information on the back. This is Donald and Charlotte Wimp Butler (in front) of Sullivan, Illinois, with their children Betty, Donald Jr., Charlotte Jr., and Ruth. The photo was taken in 1959. My sister Jooly bought it for me this year at a garage sale here in Louisville. In doing some online searching for the family, I discovered that Mrs. Butler was a native of Louisville, and both she and her husband attended the University of Louisville. The library there has a collection of their letters, photos, publications and memorabilia, a description of which is viewable online.

"Charlotte Wimp, a native of Louisville, attended U of L from 1912 to 1917. She was an avid outdoors woman who loved hiking, camping and basketball. She organized a girls group of the Boy Scouts of America in 1911-1912. While at U of L she played on the women's basketball team, serving as captain in her sophomore year.

"Charlotte was a prolific letter writer. During WWI she corresponded with several young male friends in the armed forces. Their letters reflect the hurry-up-and-wait life in camp and the boredom of being in a tent in France. Charlotte helped relieve their homesickness and boredom with her newsy letters and cartoons.

"Donald Butler, a native of Sullivan, Illinois, graduated from college in Illinois, and taught for one year before entering the U of L Dental School, graduating in 1921. He was active in basketball and track in high school and college. While in Dental School he played on the men's basketball team, serving as captain one year. He was named to the All-State team his senior year. He retained his interest in track, and ran and won a race on New Years Day 1921. He helped organize and raise money for an indoor track meet held at the Armory that same year.

Pillar of Shame in Hong Kong

The Pillar of Shame (Chinese: 國殤之柱; Jyutping: gwok3 soeng1 zi1 cyu5; pinyin: Guóshāng zhī Zhù; lit. 'martyrs' pillar') in Hong Kong was a copper sculpture, first erected in Victoria Park in 1997 to mark the eighth anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. The statue depicts 50 torn and twisted bodies to symbolize those who died in the government crackdown. On the base of the statue, the history and pictures of the massacre are carved in and engraved into the base, in both English and Chinese, are the words "The Tiananmen Massacre", "June 4th 1989" and "The old cannot kill the young forever."

The Pillar was first exhibited at the Candlelight Vigil in commemoration of the eighth anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests on 3 June 1997. Following the vigil on the night of 4 June 1997, local university students fought for a place to permanently home the statue. After scuffles with the police and controversy with the university leadership, at 3 a.m. students succeeded in moving the 2-tonne statue onto the podium of the Haking Wong Building at the University of Hong Kong, however the pieces were not assembled due to concerns that the floor was not strong enough. The Pillar was re-erected at the same place on 16 June 1997.

During the following months, the Pillar was exhibited at the following universities:

•Chinese University of Hong Kong from 28 September 1997

•Lingnan College from 2 November 1997

•Hong Kong Baptist University from 29 November 1997

•Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 23 January 1998

•Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 1 March 1998

•City University of Hong Kong from 29 March 1998.

On 31 May 1998, the ninth anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests, the sculpture was returned to Victoria Park where a candlelit vigil was held. On the morning before the vigil, a self-professed artist splashed two buckets of red paint onto the Pillar, claiming that "the blood of people is also my blood."

On 24 and 25 September 1998, The Hong Kong University Students' Union (HKUSU) held a general polling on a motion to home the Pillar of Shame at the University of Hong Kong on a long-term basis. The students' motion was carried, when 1,629 out of 2,190 voted to support, and the Pillar was moved onto the Haking Wong Podium again on 3 December 1998. It was again exhibited at the 10th anniversary candlelit vigil of the Massacre in 1999 at Victoria Park. Without the university authorities' endorsement, the Pillar was moved back to the Haking Wong podium after the anniversary,[6][7] where it has remained on display; a silent tribute is held by HKUSU and the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China in May every year.

On 30 April 2008, the Pillar of Shame was painted orange as part of the project The Color Orange, to raise awareness about human rights in China. As the sculptor Galschiøt was denied access to Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China painted the Pillar without his participation.

Dispute over potential removal in October 2021

In October 2021 the University of Hong Kong, represented by law firm Mayer Brown, formally requested that the statue be removed, although they did not cite any specific reason for the request. The university released a statement claiming that the statue belonged to "an external organization" which had publicly announced its disbandment – referring to the Hong Kong Alliance – and that it had written to the Alliance based on the "latest risk assessment and legal advice" to request the removal. Galschiøt said that he was "shocked" when hearing the news about the potential removal and that he, who considered himself as remaining the owner of the statue, had never been contacted by the university in the matter. He urged HKU to allow the statue to remain, saying that it would help the world to remember the peaceful demonstrators who "were killed for expressing their wishes for political participation". He said that he hoped to "be able to transport the sculpture out of Hong Kong under orderly conditions", and that any damage to the statue would be the university's responsibility. On 15 October, Mayer Brown announced that it would no longer be representing the university in the matter of the statue, while retaining it as a client. The move came days after intense pressure, including by an open letter penned by 28 civil society groups, as well as by overseas intellectuals.

Demolition of the statue in December 2021

According to media accounts in Hong Kong, the University of Hong Kong blockaded the Pillar of Shame and the surrounding area on 22 December 2021. Near midnight, the university sent security guards and workers to the site, prepared trucks with cranes for its demolition, and the security guards blocked journalists from approaching and attempted to stop media outlets filming. By daylight on 23 December 2021, the statue had disappeared. The university stated that the statue would be put into storage, reportedly in Kadoorie Centre. Galschiøt expressed his shock in a public message the same day, referring to Hong Kong as a lawless place and announcing that he would claim compensation if it wasn't returned to him. By 24 December 2021, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Lingnan University had followed suit regarding the 4th June memorials on their campus.

Following the removal, Galschiøt received over 40 inquiries about making copies of the statue. He decided to relinquish his right to commercial exclusivity, so that anyone can make a copy, provided that all profits are given to the Hong Kong pro-democracy movement. In May 2022, a replica was installed at the University of Oslo, scheduled to be on display about a month.

St Michael, Great Moulton, Norfolk

Great Moulton, or Moulton St Michael as it is sometimes known to distinguish it from Norfolk's two other Moultons, neither of which is particularly near, is one of those parishes that straggles around lanes, clustering into groups of houses, with a pub, a shop, a hall and a couple of churches. You get the feeling you could live here without having to leave it very often. The village was once home to one of the last surviving tin churches in East Anglia, Great Moulton Congregational. The building is now on display at the museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket. Its former near-neighbour, St Michael, sits fairly close to the Norwich to London railway line, which cuts through the middle of the village, which is itself only just off of the main A140 Ipswich to Norwich road.

And yet, the church is secretive. You approach it up a narrow lane, and as the small graveyard opens up the little church presents itself to you, tower end first. Everything is small and to scale, and there is a crispness to the bright flint and red brick of the tower that is reminiscent of 19th century village churches on the south coast of England, or in the north of Ireland. This is because the tower was completely rebuilt in the late 1880s, along with the north aisle.

As you walk up to the church, there is an ancient tombchest in the churchyard beside the path. The panels cannot be any later than the early 16th century, which would make this one of the earliest graveyard memorials in East Anglia. However, the top does not match, and the panels almost certainly came from elsewhere, probably inside a church, and it is unlikely to have been this one. Most likely, they were reused for their current purpose in the 18th century. Continuing eastwards, you can look back at the church and see that the chancel is earlier than the nave, and is nearly as big. This is a juxtaposition that is repeated at several larger churches around here, including nearby Carleton Rode.

Great Moulton is one of the Pilgrim Group of parishes, which are all very welcoming, and a pleasure to visit. However, one thing you'll notice immediately as you step through the door is quite how dark it is inside. I have been here on a bright day in late winter, the white light slanting across the graveyard, and on a day in high summer when the sky was cloudless, a fierce warm light filling the churchyard, but very little of it seems to get inside the church. This is largely because of the lack of windows in the western part of the nave. There is just one window in the south wall, at the east end. It is a truncated three-light 14th century one, which creates a pool of light before the chancel arch, but not much else. The small triple lancet east window of the chancel seems to punch a hole in the darkness rather than relieve it, but as we will see, the gloom is a special part of the atmosphere at Great Moulton. For as your eyes become accustomed to the light, you see that St Michael underwent a dramatic redecoration in the early years of the 20th century.

The walls are painted in pastel shades, and those in the chancel are stencilled with flowers, fleurs de lys and portraits of the four Evangelists. The window splays are full of intricate vinework, and scrolls containing Biblical quotations run along the walls. The scheme was topped off by a gorgeous large scale St Michael killing a dragon over the chancel arch, completed in 1909. Pevsner thought it was terrible, and you wouldn't want to find it in every church, but I am glad it has survived here.

Once, many churches had late 19th and early 20th century stencilling - you can see something on a much larger scale nearby at North Tuddenham - but virtually all of them had their walls whitewashed in the 1950s and 1960s when this kind of decoration fell from favour. Their survival here gives St Michael a most pleasing atmosphere that cries out for the flickering of oil lamps and smoky candles. The walls are matched by floor tiling in the nave, which is less successful, or perhaps it is only more familiar.

A window on the south side of the chancel depicts St Michael and St George, in the typical martial poses of Clayton & Bell glass. A curiosity nearby is a Norman pillar, perhaps part of an old doorway. When Pevsner came this way he found it outside the church, but it has been rescued and brought into the sanctuary.

Just as the darkness acts as a counterpoint to the decoration, so it must have suited the seriousness of the 17th and 18th century English Church. There are some fascinating survivals of those centuries at the west end of the church, high up in the darkness so that you probably won't even notice them unless you know they are there. Firstly, either side of the tower arch are the two decalogue boards moved from the chancel by the Victorians. As is often the case with earlier sets, they include depictions of the two law-bringers, Moses and Aaron, one at the top of each board.

Secondly, there are two sets of royal arms, one above the north door and one above the south. Neither has endured the passage of time without damage, but both are interesting. Those above the south door, on canvas, are to George III, and carry the names of churchwardens Edward Wiseman and George Borrett, and the date 1762. The set above the north door, painted on board, is not clear at all, but appears to be a rarer set to Charles I. I say appears, because although they have Charles's initials, they carry the motto Exurgat Deus Dissipentur Inimici, which was that of Charles's predecessor James I.

There is an 18th century charity board in the north aisle, and it must be said that this aisle feels thoroughly rustic, without the urban patina so much Victorian work has. It could almost be medieval, if you didn't know. The font is a grand 15th century one with lions and fleurons on the bowl. The stem has been vandalised, and when Mortlock came this way the lions around the base had been replaced with plaster ones. But these are now gone. The oldest thing inside the church is actually the original 14th century chancel arch, which was not rebuilt. It has little heads at 30cm intervals. I wonder how many are portraits of parishioners of the time?

This is a lovely church, quite unlike any other in this part of Norfolk, with a special character and atmosphere all of its own.

Despite inclement weather, a large crowd gathered at the site of the Arno Bay War Memorial Hall when Mr. E. M. Mitchell laid the foundation stone of the building. Mr. Mitchell was introduced by the vice-president (Mr. K. Siviour) in the absence of the president (Mr.C.A.Burgess).

He has been a member of the Cleve District Council and an ardent worker for local activities. Mr. Mitchell congratulated the enthusiastic committee and public of the Arno Bay district on their enterprise in fostering this fine memorial to those who made the supreme sacrifice for freedom.

That's Shawn's mom and dad in the photo. They were with us for the 2nd week of our vacation. Its their timeshare at Waiohai Beach Club in Poipu that we were taking advantage of. They bought another week at the timeshare, so now we will get to join them in Hawaii for 2 weeks every odd year. YAY!

A Graduation Ceremony for those who studied for their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in Mauritius with the University of London International Programmes took place on Sunday 1 September in Flic-en-Flac with over 300 graduates and guests in attendance. This was the first time the University of London had hosted a graduation ceremony in Mauritius, and commemorated 140 years since Mauritius produced the first ever University of London graduates to take their exams outside Great Britain. UoLIP staff were joined by guests which included His Lordship The Hon. Yeung Kam John Yeung Sik Yuen, Chief Justice of the Republic of Mauritius , Dr the Hon. Description :

The Little Owl is a small owl, 23-27.5 cm in length. It takes prey such as insects, earthworms, amphibians, but also small birds and mammals. It is partly diurnal and often perches prominently during the day.

This is a sedentary species which is found in open country such as mixed farmland and parkland. It usually nests in holes in trees or rocks, laying 3-5 eggs which are incubated by the female for 28–29 days, with a further 26 days to fledging. Little Owls will also nest in buildings, both abandoned and those fitted with custom owl nest boxes. If living in an area with a large amount of human activity, Little Owls may grow used to man and will remain on their perch, often in full view, while humans are around.

Those bothersome panties we sometimes have to wear are a GOOD thing. A couple months ago, I was feeling pretty good that I didn't have to. Why, I even got a vacation in Minnesota to visit Heather's Auntie Katie and some cool flatties. There was this guy there, and I liked him a LOT for a couple of days, then I didn't really like him at all.

And then I came home. All was OK, I thought. But then recently my tummy feels funny, like there's something moving around. I'd gotten pretty fat, too. I'm tired a lot. I don't know what's wrong, but mom says I'll find out soon. I don't don't like the sound of THAT!

On the other hand, I get THREE meals a day now, so that's pretty cool.

The historically famous Koti Chennayya Kambala race is held annually at Moodabidri. At that time Kambala was the event when farmers paid tribute to their gods for protecting their crops.
