For those who don't know (I only recently discovered this) this species of gull, Heerman's Gull, has evolved to follow Brown Pelicans throughout their migration - harassing them and constantly trying to steal food from their beaks. To me, it looks like this pelican has reached its breaking point and is staring down this gull, saying "don't mess with me, little fella..."
Those that happened to be having dinner at Ruby’s last night on the Huntington Beach Pier were entertained by Mother Nature with an unbelievable low tide, allowing for some outstanding reflections, and in the sky with a remarkable sunset.

It took me a bunch of trips to this spot to finally see this beauty. It was well worth it. Got there before sunrise and listen and waited for light.

With my extra time off I decided to have a little fun.
I'm I picked up some water when I was at the store. A water line broke and we're on a boil water notice until further notice. Such fun..:)

I dont golf, and those who have tried golfing with me will attest to that. However, I do find golf courses a location of early morning beauty. This is the Peterborough Golf and Country Club in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, that caught my morning attention. I was in Peterborough celebrating my sons college graduation.

this spring we could watch two families bringing up their kids on one on the trees .-)

She can look so different with different poses and hats - but this is our Carley again we go this morning to get her hair cut - hope everyone has a great Thursday - i'm doing another photo shoot for a friend today - her granddaughter goes to preschool with Carley.
Sometimes those that lurk in the background... are the biggest support one can find.... or are they... bloody gnomes broke my shoe and there ~~Matthew~~ is standing in the background... LURKING... not helping...

I found this little scene hidden away in the vault and yet to be processed. A reminder of autumn goodness taken on a wonderfully misty and sunny day at Whiteleaf, Buckinghamshire.
Bluff Cove

Photographed on one of those really clear days back when it seemed to be raining all the time.
And in between storms were the clearest most photogenic panoramas of the Southland, like here, photographed from the top of Bluff Cove with a 240mm setting on my telephoto lens.
For those who are interested, an extract from this afternoon's Journal entry.
"At 5 o'clock we were back on the road to Sousousvlei for the afternoon drive, along the way we saw Oryx and Ostriches. We stopped at dune number 45, I gave Ruby my Panasonic camera and she went off to take photos of wild flowers. I took close up shots of the sand dune and its environment.
Next we drove to dune number 47; this was a stunning landscape, especially in the afternoon light. We watched the sun set at dune 47, Ruby took photos of the sunset with one of my cameras, while I used another. Neither of us was interested in sharing drinks and nibbles, we were civil but an impossible gulf had opened between us.
I asked about taking a hot air balloon or a sightseeing flight the next morning. Ruby said I'd never get into the balloon basket and besides the next morning would be windy and unsuitable for ballooning. She was no longer interested in anything I wanted if I wasn’t interested in what she wanted me to do. She had also lost sight of the fact I was the client and she the guide. Her message was loud and clear.
Back at the camp we had Orix kebabs for dinner, tough as old leather and not at all tasty."
