ROSEHIP SYRUP:
Collect ripe rosehips, wash and take their tails off (black bits at the end where the flower used to be). Chopp roughly and weigh them. Put them into a pan and add two parts of water per part of rosehips (if you got 500g rosehips you'll need 1liter of water). Put the lid on your pan and bring to the boil. Turn the heat off and leave to sit for 20 minutes. Strain the liquid through a jelly bag or some muslin, sit the liquid to the side and return the rosehip mass back into the pan. Add another part of water (500mls if you had 500g rosehips), put the lid on and bring to the boil. Turn the heat off and leave to sit for another 20 minutes. Strain and discard your rosehip mass (makes great compost). Rinse your pan and combine the two lots of liquid you got. Turn the heat on and reduce the liquid to half its volume. Stirr in the same weight of sugar as you had weight of rosehips (e.g 500g) and boil hard for 5 minutes whilst stirring. Pour into sterilsed bottles or jars.
Rosehip syrup is rich in vitamin C and goes well with pancakes or in tea.

Maple Syrup is poured out onto fresh snow and allowed to cool. The thick and sticky substance is then rolled around a stick and eaten as candy.
It's a good thing I like it because my idea of a test batch was a triple batch. It made 10- 8 oz. jars and 2- 4oz jars. I'll keep these for myself and I made a quadruple batch at the kitchen to sell.

well I was back over at the neighbors checking out the maple syrup production ..wow it was nice and warm in there ..i guess all is going well for them ..
Gusto Catering did an awesome job with our event, providing a local (100 km) menu. These cookies were made with local syrup, local oats, and even local flour. YUM.

It was both refreshing and amusing to see the fried chicken arriving showing the claws!
The plate certainly arrived with the most moreish of tantalising scents....we can smell hints of citrus, thyme and fried chicken!
The skin of the chicken was crispy but rather than exploding oil, each bite of the chicken was met with exploding juices, such was the tenderness of the flesh!
The pancakes were surprisingly as well - they arrived with crunchy edges, as if they were seared or grilled but with the interior fluffy and light.
Both were a good combo and made better by the 2 condiments:
Tangy banana ketchup which really packs a fruity but very savoury tuned punch and an even punchier maple syrup flavoured with cracked pink peppercorns!
Very delicious take on the traditional chicken & pancakes/waffles combo.
John's new batch of honey bee's are being fed sugar syrup after their long journey to him, hopefully this wis also encourage them to get used to their new geography. You can see how the colour differs and the comb is white as it hasn't been made from true flower nectar.
Playing around with pieces of track and templates, to get a feel for space on two 3ft by 18" boards , for my new module board/switching layout based around a corn syrup facility.
