I'm not a huge drinker of dark beers, so this beer was never going to be an instant favourite. Did I enjoy it? yes. As much as their IPA? no. Would I buy it again? yes, but might match it with curry or big roast.

Members of the Army Field Support Battalion- Kandahar formed a mobile redistribution property assistance team to assist members of Task Force Lone Star, a part of 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, with the turn in of their theater provided equipment. TF Lone Star is sending troops home as part of the surge recovery and the team went to Forward Operating Base Farah to assist them with turning in and transferring equipment ranging from generators, tactical vehicles, to mobile kitchen trailers.
About the 401st:
The 401st Army field Support Brigade provides Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, and Marines, the tools and resources necessary to complete the mission. If they shoot, drive it, fly it, wear it, eat it or communicate with it, the 401st helps provide it. The brigade assists coalition partners with many of their logistical and sustainment needs. The brigade also handles the responsible disposition of equipment in Afghanistan to support evolving missions. We are the single link between Warfighters in the field, and working through Army Sustainment Command, we leverage Army Materiel Command’s worldwide Materiel Enterprise to develop, deliver, and sustain materiel to ensure a dominant joint force for the U.S. and our Allies.

Kickoff rally on Boston Common in support of the Massachusetts Safe Communities Act which would protect all state residents by making sure tax dollars are not used to enforce federal immigration law. This new version of the Trust Act is sponsored by Massachusetts State Senator Jamie Eldridge (SD.1596) and State Representative Juana Matías (HD.3052). The bill would include:
No state support for Muslim registry. Prohibits access to information in state databases for use in any federal registry program based on national origin, religion or other protected characteristics.
Ensures Basic Due Process Rights for people detained in state and local facilities for civil immigration violations. Requires informing detainees that they have the right to decline an interview with ICE agents, and to have their own attorney present (at their own expense) if they so choose.
Use police resources to fight crime, not separate families. Ensures that state, local and campus police don’t participate in immigration enforcement activities, including inquiries, investigations, raids, arrests or detentions that are based solely on immigration status.
Prohibits agreements with DHS that deputize local officers as immigration agents, including county officers in Bristol and Plymouth sheriff's departments.

Troops from the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps Support Battalion dig mini trenches during rain showers that lasted several hours October 5 at RAF St. Mawgan. The rain created several challenges for the headquarters, including slippery walkways, leaking tents and pools of water near equipment. Regardless of the weather, members of the ARRC, 16 Air Assault Brigade, JFC-Naples and various other elements of NATO Forces came together for Exercise Noble Ledger to certify that the ARRC is capable and ready to assume command of the NATO Response Force mission throughout 2013. Taking command of NRF means that the ARRC will be rapidly deployable and could be called upon at any moment to deploy worldwide in support of combat or humanitarian relief efforts.

The School of Education and Human Performance held its first annual Beginning Teacher Support Program on June 15th, a program designed to connect with and provide support to recent graduates within their first three years of classroom teaching. Sessions that focused on Surviving the First Year of Teaching and Integrating Technology into the Common Core Curriculum were offered as professional development. Over 20 students attended the event. Future events are being planned for Homecoming and Spring 2013.
Of particular interest: The Beginning Teacher Survival Guide session offers new teachers a variety of helpful hints, resources, suggestions, and strategies to tackle the ever changing classroom environment. Topics include data driven decision making, Common Core Standards, infusing technology, problem based learning, writing grants to support instruction, classroom management, Professional Learning Communities, and parent/community relations. A Beginning Teacher Survival Guide wiki-space provides participants with an assortment of ready to use lesson ideas to begin the new school year with an interactive and energized approach. Additional review games ideas and resources are also included in the wiki-space to facilitate review sessions for beginning teachers while keeping students actively engaged and focused on learning targets regardless of the grade level or subject area.
This is a photograph from the 6th annual Longwood Village 10KM and 5KM Road Races and Fun Runs 2015 which were held in Longwood Village, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 18th October 2015 at 11:00. This is the sixth year which Longwood GAA/Village have hosted race events. This year's event was an outstanding success and builds on the fantastic success of last year's race. The overall number of participants, including walkers, was over 440 which is up on last year's final numbers. There was over 220 runners and joggers in the 10KM while there was almost 200 runners, joggers and walkers in the 5KM. The events were organised as fundraisers for both the adult and juvenille teams at Longwood GAA club. The event also provided a fundraising opportunity for the local St. Vincent de Paul charity. Overall the whole day was a great success with the hard work put in by the organising committee ensuring that participants enjoyed their race experience. Both routes were accurately measured, kilometer points clearly marked, junctions well stewarded, and electronic timing provided. The event provided many local runners, joggers, fun runners and walkers with a local event to support whilst at the same time providing runners preparing for events such as the Dublin marathon with an opportunity to race a short, fast, distance in the lead up to marathon day. The GAA club provided excellent stewarding and traffic management all around the course. The race had a professional feel to it and it is sure to grow next year given the very positive feedback from many of the participants today.
This photograph is part of a larger set of photographs taken at the event. There were photographs taken at the start of the races and the finishes of both races in Longwood GAA. The full set is available at this link www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157660017638535
Longwood is a small village in South East Co. Meath and is close to the town of Enfield with access to the M4 Motorway. The weather was almost perfect for road running. A beautiful crisp autumn morning with dry cool conditions. 5KM Course: The 5KM started in Longwood village. Runners then took a left turn in the Village down St. Oliver's Road. This straight section of road brings runners to a left turn onto a very well maintained boreen road for less than one kilometer. The race then emerges and joins with the 10KM at Stoneyford where the runners take a left and then another left before arriving back at the finish line in Longwood GAA club. Overall this is a very fast and flat 5KM with no hills to speak of.
10KM Course: The 10KM event begins in Longwood Village outside Dargan's Pub and proceeds westward out of the village. There are some interesting points along this part of the course. At the 2KM point the runners will run under the double bridges - an aquaduct for the Royal Canal and a bridge carrying the Dublin Sligo Railway line. The race then enters county Kildare just before the 3km and after taking a right turn at the four-cross roads known locally as Lally's Cross it returns to County Meath on top of the River Boyne Bridge (Ashfield Bridge) which forms the county boundary. The race follows a straight road for the next 2KM until runners encounter Blackshade bridge which is the toughest climb on the route. As a point of interest Blackshade bridge brings runners back over the Royal Canal and the Railway line. The race then crosses the River Boyne again at Stoneyford before taking a right which will bring runners on a testing two kilometer stretch with some short hills. The 10KM course then joins with the 5Km course for the final 1.5KM back to Longwood GAA club for the finish.

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

On National Wildland Firefighter Day, we express our deepest gratitude to the brave men and women who answer the call to fight wildfires and the dedicated support personnel that make it all possible.
Wildfires transcend boundaries, requiring a collaborative and coordinated response. Interagency partnerships, like those represented in this video, play a vital role in achieving this.
We would like to acknowledge the significance of our partnerships and express gratitude to those in wildland fire at all levels. This includes, federal, state, local, Tribal, military, and contract resources. The coordination and cooperation between these entities creates a more efficient and effective response to wildfire.
By pooling resources, sharing expertise, and fostering open communication, we can tackle wildfires with greater strength and unity. Let us recognize and appreciate the exceptional teamwork exhibited by our interagency partners in safeguarding our communities and environment.
National #WildlandFirefighterDay, established in 2022, now serves as a poignant reminder of the critical role firefighters and support personnel play in protecting our communities and natural treasures. By prioritizing safety, fostering interagency partnerships, and expressing gratitude for this community, we demonstrate our commitment to their wellbeing. #ItTakesAllOfUs #ThankAFirefighter #NWFFD #FirefightingResources
