Puerto Deportivo de Alicante / Alicante Marina: a group of twelve rowers plus coxswain (=13!) clad in eye-catchingly bright t-shirts exemplifies teamwork, rowing their boat. As they glide through the calm water, the Saturday morning sun is shining brightly over the nautical scene, highlighting nearby moored yachts and the palm trees on the quayside.

We adopted my dog Molly 5 years ago. We are not 100% sure of her age but believe she is about 10 years old now. While she isn't officially labeled an "Emotional Support Dog" there is no doubt in my mind that she has gotten me through some tough times. She is so loving and loyal and truly is a best friend. I would be lost without her. ❤

In einer doppelten Symbolik schlagen Regierungsbauten und die Gebäude für die demokratisch gewählten Abgeordneten eine Verbindung und symbolische Brücke zwischen Ost und West. Die Demokratie ist Bauherr. Dem 1995 begonnenen Bau geht die größte bis dahin dagewesene weltweite Projektausschreibung für öffentliche Bauten voran: 835 Architekten bewerben sich um die Aufträge. Es geht darum Deutschlands neue Regierungszentrale wie auch die Büros für die Abgeordneten des Parlaments zu entwerfen.
Den Zuschlag für die Neugestaltung des Spreebogens erhalten die Architekten Axel Schultes und Charlotte Frank. Paul-Löbe-Haus und Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus konzipiert der Architekt Stefan Braunfels. Verworfen werden die ursprünglich geplante Platzanlage Bürgerforum mit Cafés und Geschäften und zunächst die Verlängerung in Richtung Bahnhof Friedrichstraße. (...) Das Paul-Löbe-Haus ist benannt nach dem Reichstagspräsidenten und Alterspräsidenten des ersten Deutschen Bundestags. Es beherbergt die Büros von Abgeordneten, Sitzungssäle und die zentrale Besucherbetreuung. Besonders prägnant ist die Glasfassade an der Westseite. The journey into homelessness is rarely a singular event, but rather a complex accumulation of personal and systemic fractures. The path likely began with the quiet erosion of stability—perhaps the loss of a long-held career followed by the gradual disintegration of social support. As the fabric of his everyday life unravelled, economic pressures and perhaps health struggles may have removed a safety net to cushion the descent. A story of resilience in the face of immense adversity, illustrating how a person can become unmoored from society's structures, forced to navigate a stark, solitary existence while remaining an often invisible observer of the world.

While barns used to dominate farm sites throughout the countryside, they had a whole supporting cast of other buildings. Sometimes they were small while other times there were quite large buildings that sheltered hogs, sheep or cattle. Hard to tell what this intriguing building was but I suspect at least at one time it held chickens. On our farm, you could put chickens almost anywhere and they would be happy.

A wooden fence as a climbing support for a red climbing rose. For me, fences are often barriers that lock me out, but here the fence serves a good purpose.

While supporting a film production in Bodie this month, I shot a time-lapse sequence of morning sunlight descending the Dechambeau Hotel and the IOOF Hall.

Amazing crowd and supporters came to have fun and support favorites in regional drifting competition.
Access to the Supreme Court building is free to the public. We visited when the Court was not in session so we were able to hear a 30 minute courtroom lecture given by a very nice docent. The lecture was extremely informative as it includes the history and function of the highest court in the land. The lecture takes place in the room where the Supreme Court hears cases. You are not allowed to take photos in this room. You will have to take in the grandeur of the beautiful columns, ceiling, and sculpted marble panels and commit these to memory.
There are so many architectural treasures inside and outside the building. One of the most awe inspiring are the two identical self-supporting elliptical spiral staircases. Visitors should make a point to stop and check them out.

From bud to bloom.
From my garden, a few days of lesser weather, the Roses suffered, I watched till I could no more and then brought them in... and here it is, one of them, the showy Just Joey, for our pleasure.
Few roses are as perfumed as 'Just Joey' a classic variety, with a fabulous scent and stunning depth of colour.
The salmon, coppery-orange flowers have pronounced red veining, with the whole bloom fading to a satisfying copper-buff with age.
It is also very disease-proof and undemanding.
Hybrid Tea Rose and has a fruity fragrance (to me it smells like ripe raspberries mmmmmm) which wafts from large ruffled salmon blooms, once opened.
This superstar rose is from England. Just Joey roses were inducted into the Hall of Fame by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 1994.
The flowers are well-formed with large, high-centred buds, supported by long, straight and upright stems.
The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit.

Sarmizegetusa Regia (also known as Sarmisegetusa, Sarmisegethusa, Sarmisegethuza; Ancient Greek: Ζαρμιζεγεθούσα, romanized: Zarmizegethoúsa) was the capital and the most important military, religious and political centre of the Dacians before the wars with the Roman Empire. Built on top of a 1200 m high mountain, the fortress, consisting of six citadels, was the core of a strategic and defensive system in the Orăștie Mountains (in present-day Romania).
The sacred zone — among the most important and largest circular and rectangular Dacian sanctuaries – includes a number of rectangular temples, the bases of their supporting columns still visible in regular arrays. Perhaps the most enigmatic construction at the site is the large circular sanctuary. It consisted of a setting of timber posts in the shape of a D, surrounded by a timber circle which in turn was surrounded by a low stone kerb. The layout of the timber settings bears some resemblance to the stone monument at Stonehenge in England.

El convento de San Juan de los Reyes es un cenobio de la ciudad española de Toledo perteneciente a la Orden Franciscana, que fue construido bajo el patrocinio de la reina Isabel I de Castilla con la intención de convertirlo en mausoleo real, en conmemoración de la batalla de Toro y del nacimiento del príncipe Juan. Se trata de una de las más valiosas muestras del estilo gótico isabelino y el edificio más importante erigido por los Reyes Católicos. El convento es, además, un monumento conmemorativo de los logros de los Reyes Católicos y de su programa político.
El templo, que se terminó en 1495, corresponde plenamente al tipo isabelino, de una sola nave con capillas-hornacinas entre los contrafuertes y con coro elevado a los pies. Se construyó en varias etapas por los que el proyecto inicial fue modificado en varias ocasiones. En un primer momento la nave central estaba coronada por una austera bóveda cuyo último pilar, que corresponde al crucero, fortalecía el punto de apoyo del cimborrio formando un grueso contrafuerte. Pero en 1484 el proyecto primitivo fue remodelado por la mano de Guas que trasformó la cabecera en una capilla funeraria revestida por un cimborrio, pensada para los enterramientos de los Reyes Católicos. Esto no se llegó a realizar y es por lo que el espacio de la cabecera da una sensación de vacío. La solución llegó en una segunda fase, ya muerto Juan Guas, en la que el proyecto se simplificó. La profusa ornamentación del templo muestra los símbolos de los Reyes Católicos, así como el águila de San Juan y decoración heráldica. El perímetro interior de la iglesia está recorrido por una franja con un texto conmemorativo, lo que puede considerarse una adaptación de la epigrafía árabe a la arquitectura cristiana. El escultor Egas Cueman colaboró decisivamente en la decoración del conjunto.
El claustro, construido tras la muerte de Guas, está formado por bóvedas de crucería sin clave central y un arco conopial mixtilíneo en la galería del segundo piso. En los arcos de entibo aparecen como decoración figuras en los ángulos, y en los tímpanos de las puertas está representada la Verónica. Pero lo más destacado desde el punto de vista iconográfico es el muro, decorado con cenefas vegetales a modo de alfiz, dejando espacio para pinturas y esculturas. Otra de las puertas del claustro muestra un arco tribulado más abierto relacionado ya con modelos de Enrique Egas de época posterior.
The convent of San Juan de los Reyes is a monastery in the Spanish city of Toledo belonging to the Franciscan Order, which was built under the patronage of Queen Isabel I of Castile with the intention of converting it into a royal mausoleum, in commemoration of the battle of Toro and the birth of Prince Juan. It is one of the most valuable examples of the Isabelline Gothic style and the most important building erected by the Catholic Monarchs. The convent is also a commemorative monument of the achievements of the Catholic Monarchs and their political programme.
The temple, which was completed in 1495, fully corresponds to the Isabelline type, with a single nave with chapels-niche between the buttresses and with a raised choir at the foot. It was built in several stages, due to which the initial project was modified on several occasions. At first, the central nave was crowned by an austere vault, the last pillar of which, corresponding to the transept, strengthened the support point of the dome, forming a thick buttress. But in 1484, the original project was remodelled by Guas, who transformed the apse into a funerary chapel covered by a dome, designed for the burial of the Catholic Monarchs. This was never carried out, and that is why the space of the apse gives a feeling of emptiness. The solution came in a second phase, after Juan Guas' death, in which the project was simplified. The profuse ornamentation of the temple shows the symbols of the Catholic Monarchs, as well as the eagle of Saint John and heraldic decoration. The interior perimeter of the church is traversed by a strip with a commemorative text, which can be considered an adaptation of Arabic epigraphy to Christian architecture. The sculptor Egas Cueman collaborated decisively in the decoration of the complex.
The cloister, built after Guas' death, is made up of ribbed vaults without a central keystone and a mixed-linear ogee arch in the second-floor gallery. The arches are decorated with figures in the corners, and Veronica is depicted on the tympanums of the doors. But the most notable thing from an iconographic point of view is the wall, decorated with plant borders like an alfiz, leaving space for paintings and sculptures. Another of the cloister doors has a more open tribulated arch related to models by Enrique Egas from a later period.

Whitby is a seaside town in North Yorkshire, England. It has an established maritime, mineral and tourist heritage. Its East Cliff is home to the ruins of Whitby Abbey, where Cædmon, the earliest recognised English poet, lived. The fishing port developed during the Middle Ages, supporting important herring and whaling fleets and was (along with the nearby fishing village of Staithes) where Captain Cook learned seamanship. It is also, of course, where Dracula famously landed in Bram Stoker's novel. The gulls are huge and it is an offence to feed them due to the number of attacks in recent years. This one is asking for chips.

Avram Iancu (1824 – September 10, 1872) was a Transylvanian Romanian lawyer who played an important role in the local chapter of the Austrian Empire Revolutions of 1848–1849. At that time Transylvania was part of the empire. Hungarian revolutionaries in Romania (many of whom were landowners) refused to debate the abolition of serfdom (which at the time was the state of the larger part of the Romanian population in Transylvania). He started rallying peasants in the Apuseni (Western Carpathian) Mts. to protest. As the Austrians granted the abolition of serfdom, they also forbade all representative institutions in Transylvania. Avram Iancu was censored throughout his life, had his library confiscated, and was placed under surveillance. The Austrian authorities knew that his presence alone served to inflame local sentiments. Avram Iancu was officially declared a Hero of the Romanian Nation in November 2016 by the Romanian Parliament and the president Klaus Iohannis.
Built in a Romanian Brâncovenesc style, a synthesis of Renaissance and Byzantine architecture, the cathedral is located in the Avram Iancu Square, across from the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre. The cathedral was built between 1923 and 1933, after the Union of Transylvania with the Romanian Old Kingdom. The main dome of the Cathedral, inspired by the dome of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, is surrounded by four Romanian Brâncovenesc style towers. The 18 large columns supporting the dome are sculpted in stone. The main material used for the construction of the Cathedral was stone extracted from Baciu and Bompotoc. (Wikipedia)
