The Inmos Microprocessor factory in Newport, South Wales completed in 1982 and designed by Richard Rogers Partnership represented the last vestige of the High-Tech Movement. This building was actually designed after the Lloyds of London project by the same architects, but it was completed before Lloyds. Exposed lattice steelwork pin-jointed together with expressed tension rod support and externally positioned service pods were all an echo to the mantra of Archigram and the Architectural Association in the 1960’s and 1970’s for loose-fit, plug-in, industrialised, adaptable buildings.
Tony Hunt was left to resolve engineering designs for the Inmos project when the spirit of architectural adventure in which it had been conceived had been all but exhausted. Hunt’s friendship with Iann Barron, the Inmos CEO helped with the commission, and with Tony Hunt’s steadfast engineering input, the project was a success.
Hunt had at first become friendly with Iann Barron in the mid 1970’s at the time of the Willis Faber Dumas project. Barron was head of a computer firm Computer Technology for which Hunt worked on a project.
Artist Ben Johnson, a graduate of the Royal college of Art , was commissioned to work on a super-realist painting of the central spine of the Inmos building. He also produced a painting of the ground floor of the Willis Faber Dumas building in Ipswich. Both of these paintings celebrate Tony Hunt’s structures.
Possibly the best example of High Tech architecture as far as its marriage with a high tech client operation is concerned, the Inmos Microprocessor Plant was built for the emerging microprocessor “chip” manufacturing industry (known then in the 1980’s as a new-dawn industry). With the new building type came the architectural requirements of clean air, and
flexibility in layout, which required wide uninterrupted spaces that could be sub-divided and provided with very high levels of servicing.
Inmos Ltd was founded in 1978 by Iann Barron, a British computer consultant with Richard Petritz and Paul Schroeder, both American semiconductor industry experts. Funds of £50m were made available from the UK National Enterprise Board. In 1984 Thorn EMI made a bid of £124m for the state’s 76% interest in the company. In total, Inmos Ltd had received £211m from UK taxpayers, but never became profitable. In 1994 the Inmos brand name was discontinued.
The exacting brief called for rapid building methods and possibilities to extend and greatly increase its size. Hunt’s response was to design a bolt together structure in enormous sec- tions (that is as large as could be transported and lifted into position) which were connect- ed together using stainless-steel pins for the joint assembles.
In the tradition of Archigram and of Michael Webb’s Architectural Association design studies, Richard Rogers’s Inmos designs represent the ideals of dry construction, plug-in ex- ternally serviced systemised accommodation modules. The central spine, the main access corridor for the building, an internal street, has above it, supported by a series of lattice steel towers, double storey roof level service pods and plant rooms. Highly visible exposed ductwork and pipework feed into the ceilings of the production areas, supported from above by the lattice steel prismatic structure.
Unlike earlier and more experimental High Tech buildings such as Foster Associates’ Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich, Inmos relies upon traditional flat roof technology and upon proprietary glazing systems to construct modular walls of glass, solid infill or louvred panels. The design did not provide the opportunity for technological advances in structural panel construction.
The central spine is 7.2m wide and 106m long. A series of similarly sized, (six bays deep) accommodation bays are positioned each side of the spine at 13m centres, 36m deep. To the north side are the production areas and to the south side are canteen, office and ancillary areas. The design allowed for unlimited extension to the same pattern.
Anthony Hunt Associates devised some complex connections for the structure including pin joints, forked connectors and specially designed bracketry. The principle was to bring the largest possible fabrications to site and to erect them quickly and easily. Three legged CHS tower columns each side of the central spine provide the primary support structure. Stainless steel pins were used instead of bolted connections.
The prismatic roof trusses are supported by tension rods paired to match the twin outer members of the three legged tower columns. Twin tension rods support the prismatic trusses at the one third point of their span with a single rod at the two thirds point. External splayed tension struts, held to the ground by anchor piles, are expressive of the need to balance the bending moment at that point; they provide lateral bracing and support the roof trusses at their end away from from the central spine.
Steel castings were used where a large number of repeat components were required. The quantity justified the investment in casting patterns and foundry processes. Source Connexions: The unseen hand of Tony Hunt

Inigo Jones began work for Anne of Denmark in 1616 but the building was left uncompleted on her death in 1619 when it was one storey high, and work was not resumed until 1627 when Charles I decided to revive the project for Henrietta Maria. It was habitable in 1635 and completed by 1637. The two-storey Great Hall is the main room located at the centre of the north block. It is a 40 ft. single cube. The ceiling is geometrical with high raised ribs decorated with a double guilloche. The compartments were designed to hold nine canvases, eventually supplied between 1636 and 1638 by Orazio Gentileschi on the theme of an allegory of peace and the arts under the English crown (now Marlborough House, London). A narrow wooden gallery, supported by brackets (see here), runs round the Great Hall at first floor level with doors leading to the state rooms.
This is a photograph from the start of both races in the 7th annual Longwood Village 10KM and 5KM Road Races and Fun Runs which were held in Longwood Village, Longwood, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 23rd October 2016 at 11:00. The races are held annually to support the development of the local GAA club while also supporting local charities. The race has support from Trim AC which sees the race have full AAI premit status. These races have grown steadily over the years and this year almost 400 participants to part in the two races. This is an impressive statistic given that a very large number of local runners will be preparing for the Dublin City marathon 7 days from now. However both races provide marathon runners and all other runners, joggers and walkers with an ideal opportunity to race on a very fair course in a beautiful rural setting. Barry Clarke of Longwood GAA and Trim AC and his very large group of volunteers deserve the highest of praise for the very high standard of organisation immediately apparent to anyone taking part in the race. Overall the whole day was a great success with the hard work put in by the organising committee ensuring that participants enjoyed their race experience. Both routes were accurately measured, kilometer points clearly marked, junctions well stewarded, and electronic timing provided. The event provided many local runners, joggers, fun runners and walkers with a local event to support whilst at the same time providing runners preparing for events such as the Dublin marathon with an opportunity to race a short, fast, distance in the lead up to marathon day. The GAA club provided excellent stewarding and traffic management all around the course. The race had a professional feel to it and it is sure to grow next year given the very positive feedback from many of the participants today. The weather didn't exactly play ball with some heavy showers of rain for both races. However this didn't do anything to dampen the atmosphere of the race.

Longwood is a small village in South East Co. Meath and is close to the town of Enfield with access to the M4 Motorway. The weather was almost perfect for road running. A beautiful crisp autumn morning with dry cool conditions. 5KM Course: The 5KM started in Longwood village. Runners then took a left turn in the Village down St. Oliver's Road. This straight section of road brings runners to a left turn onto a very well maintained boreen road for less than one kilometer. The race then emerges and joins with the 10KM at Stoneyford where the runners take a left and then another left before arriving back at the finish line in Longwood GAA club. Overall this is a very fast and flat 5KM with no hills to speak of.
10KM Course: The 10KM event begins in Longwood Village outside Dargan's Pub and proceeds westward out of the village. There are some interesting points along this part of the course. At the 2KM point the runners will run under the double bridges - an aquaduct for the Royal Canal and a bridge carrying the Dublin Sligo Railway line. The race then enters county Kildare just before the 3km and after taking a right turn at the four-cross roads known locally as Lally's Cross it returns to County Meath on top of the River Boyne Bridge (Ashfield Bridge) which forms the county boundary. The race follows a straight road for the next 2KM until runners encounter Blackshade bridge which is the toughest climb on the route. As a point of interest Blackshade bridge brings runners back over the Royal Canal and the Railway line. The race then crosses the River Boyne again at Stoneyford before taking a right which will bring runners on a testing two kilometer stretch with some short hills. The 10KM course then joins with the 5Km course for the final 1.5KM back to Longwood GAA club for the finish.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Constructed for18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB) Soldiers to move through February 23, 2012 at the Joint Multinational Training Command's (JMTC) Camp Aachen located in Grafenwoehr Germany. The 18th CSSB received a combined Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC)/JMSC training support package. The exercise is the first Command Post Exercise (CPX) since 2010 that integrated Virtual Battlespace 2 (VBS2) computer simulations with other simulation models to create a realistic scenario for a non-deploying training unit. The Pakistan Strategy Support Program (PSSP) held the conference, “Increasing Productivity and Unleashing Growth” at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad on May 26-27th, 2012. This conference also marked the final round of the Competitive Grants Program that was launched by PSSP in January 2012 for Pakistani PhD and graduate students studying locally and abroad on economic development issues of Pakistan. The finalists presented in front of the Research Advisory Committee, donor heads, professors and students from local universities. The event also consisted of plenary sessions on Pakistan’s various economic growth issues by renowned academics from all over the world, such as Dr. Jock Anderson, Dr. Regina Birner and Dr. David Spielman.

The Support Races Featured During the Day were also Full of Different Makes and Models of Ford Racing Cars From The Focus RS to the Ford Escort and the Iconic Sierra Cosworth and even the Iconic Enduro KA series was Present and with Drivers and Spectators Ready the Racing was about to begin.

In First Place was (Tom Mills) in his Spectrum KMR with a Best Lap Time of 50.154 and a Top Speed of 86.70mph. Amazing work there Tom a truly Heroic and Brave Drive for Pole Position.
In Second Place was (Niall Murray) in his Van Diemen BD21 with a Best Lap Time of 50.397 and a Top Speed of 86.28mph. Fantastic Work Niall Very Fast and Quick Driving.
In Third Place was (Colin Queen) in his Ray GR18 with a Best Lap Time of 50.399 and a Top Speed of 86.28mph. Another Incredible Driver in Colin Pushing Hard and Almost Taking Second Place from Niall. I think we are in for some Really Intense Racing but who will be Fast Enough to on Track to Take Victory?

After a Thrilling Battle that saw Tom Mills take Pole Position its time to find out who Won the Race and out of The Top Three Could Anyone else on the Grid Challenge them for a Spot on the Podium. Lets Find Out.
In First Place and taking the Win was (Niall Murray) in his Van Diemen BD21 with a Lap Time of 50.518 and an Average Speed of 77.40mph. Incredible work there Niall Beating back Tom to take Victory in the First Race and a Well Determined Drive to Secure it.
In Second Place was (Tom Mills) in his Spectrum KMR with a Lap Time of 50.706 and an Average Speed of 77.38mph. Amazing Drive there Tom Keeping up with Niall and a Fantastic Battle thought the entire Race too.
In Third Place was (Colin Queen) in his RAY GR18 with a Lap Time of 50.820 and an Average Speed of 77.32mph. A Great Victory for Third Place on the Podium Colin showing a Determined Drive and a lot of Bravery thought the Race.

Race 2 Up Next and The Final Time for Anyone Racing in Champion of Brands to Score Points and Take Victory in either First Second or Third Place. After a Thrilling End to Race 1 which Saw Tom Mills getting Beaten by Niall Murray it was time to see who could Once Again bring the Roar and Thunder Home for a Final Time.
In First Place was (Niall Murray) in his Van Diemen BD21 with a Lap Time of 50.584 and an Average Speed of 84.84mph. Another Incredible Drive from Niall to once again take The Final Pole Position for Champion of Brands. Brilliant Drive there Niall.
In Second Place was (Tom Mills) in his Spectrum KMR with a Lap Time of 50.606 and an Average Speed of 84.47mph. Another Well Deserved Second Place for Tom Showing Incredible Car Control and Bravery Pushing the Limits on Every Corner to Keep up with Niall. Fantastic Drive Tom.
In Third Place was (Lucan Romenek) in his Van Diemen JL13 with a Lap Time of 50.927 and an Average Speed of 83.92mph. Very Well Done there Lucan Fantastic to see a New Driver take a Step onto the Podium and Celebrate the Victory.
What an Exciting Opening Day here at Brands Hatch for Ford Power Live with Champion of Brands Providing some Well Deserved Winners in Niall Tom Lucan and Colin. Well Done to all other Drivers taking Part and Continuing to Improve and do what it is that you Love. Keep Up the Momentum and Never Give Up Hope of One Day Making it to the Top Step of the Podium.

Clubman Sports Prototype Championship (Qualifying)
Clubman Sports Prototypes were up next and thease Mad Looking Machines are known for their Supreme Aerodynamics as well as Insane Straight Line Speed. each Driver will have to be on the ball and Keeping their Machine under Constant Control as they will be Powering round this 1,2 mile Indy Circuit at Speeds of at Least 90mph.

In First Place and taking Pole Position was (Steve Dickens) in his Mallock MK29 with a Best Lap Time of 47.146 and a Top Speed of 92.23mph. Amazing Drive there Steve Very Fast and Committed for Pole Position.
In Second Place was (Clive Wood) in his Mallock MK23 with a Best Lap Time of 47.784 and a Top Speed of 91.00mph. Well Deserved there Clive Pushing that Mallock for all its worth and taking Second Place.
In Third Place was (Alex Champkin) Mallock MK27 Synergy with a Best Lap Time of 48.129 and a Top Speed of 90.35mph. Very Well Done there Alex Taking Third Place and a Spirited Drive with it.

In Second Place was (Alex Champkin) in his Mallock MK27 Synergy with a Lap Time of 47.515 and an Average Speed of 76.84mph. Another Super Drive by Alex to move him up into Second Place on the Podium. Fantastic Work and Driving Ability.

In First Place was (Pete Richings) in his Mallock MK30PR with a Lap Time of 48.218 and a Top Speed of 88.27mph. Incredible Driving Pete taking the Top Step of the Podium and the Race Win. A Truly Excellent Drive.
In Second Place was (Steve Dickens) in his Mallock MK29 with a Lap Time of 47.986 and an Average Speed of 88.17mph. Very Well Done again Steve Putting in a lot of Hard work to Reach Second Place.

With Speeds once again Reaching Nearly 92mph thease cars are Monsters and Driving and Controlling One is going to be Very Challenging with all that Break Horse Power.

Next Up we take a Look to the Focus Cup Championship a Racing Series which Features the use of Ford Focus Road Cars Built to Racing Specifications. Thease Cars all Use The ZTEC 2.0 TDCI Engines and Have Proven to be Very Quick and also Very Twitchy when out Racing.
Lets Take a Look at Qualifying to see what Drivers Have made it to the Front of the Gird to start out the Days Racing.

Next Up is the MSR Elise Trophy
with the Focus of this Race being on the Lotus Elise S1 S2 and S3 with Just One Qualifying Session and Just 1 Race This will be A Test of Will Power and Determination on the Track to see who can Take Victory.
First Lets look to Qualifying and See who will be Starting on the Front Row.
In First Place taking the Pole and Fastest Lap was (Maurizio Sciglio) in his Lotus Elise S2 with a Best Lap Time of 53.544 and a Top Speed of 81.21mph. Fantastic work there Maurizio to take P1 and start o the Front Row of the Grid.
In Second Place was (Jason Mcinulty) in his Lotus Elise S3 with a Best Lap Time of 53.914 and a Top Speed of 80.65mph. Very Well Done there Jason Putting in one Hell of a Quick Time to Gain P2 on the Grid.
In Third Place was (Simon Walsh) in his Lotus Elise S2 111R with a Best Lap Time of 54.076 and a Top Speed of 80.41mph. Incredible Drive from Simon to put Himself in P3.
With Three Very Quick Drivers in Maurizio Jason and Simon it was Time to see if Anyone Could challenge them and Win the Only Race of the Day for the Lotus Elise Trophy.

In Second Place was (John Lamaster) in his Lotus Elise S2 135R with a Lap Time of 54.781 and an Average Speed of 66.75mph. Fantastic work John and So Great to see a New Face on the Podium Taking P2 what an Incredible Driver.
In Third Place was (David Alexander) in his Lotus Elise S1 with a Lap Time of 55.589 and an Average Speed of 66.62mph. Very Well Driven Dave Keeping an Eye out all over the Place and Bringing Home a Superb P3 Finish.
A Brilliant Race for the Elise Trophy and Victories for Jason John and David as well as Maurizio and Simon for their Heroic Efforts in Qualifying. Congratulations to Jason on the Race Win and Good Luck to all other Drivers in this Series.
Modified Ford Series (Qualifying Group A)
Now it was Time to head Back to the Blue Badged Ford Machines Once again as the Modified Ford Series Rolled out onto the Race Track with each car being Heavily Modified from their Road Counterparts. With Escort Cosworth's and RS200's Roaring and Ready to go it was Time to see what the First Group A set of Drivers could do in Qualifying.
Due to how large the Grids were and the Fact that both Group A and Group B Have Different Races I will only be putting up results from both Qualifying Sessions from Group A and Group B. I will Leave a Link Below each Qualifying Session so you can Get All the Race Result's and Action from the 4 Different Races.
Modified Ford Series (Qualifying Group A)
In First Place Taking Pole Position and the Fastest Lap was (David Cockell) in his Ford Escort Cosworth with a Best Lap Time of 49.872 and a Top Speed of 87.19mph. Very Well Done David Keeping that Escort on the Track Must Have Taken some Practice no Doubt Amazing work on Getting Pole.
In Second Place was (Wayne Crabtree) in his Ford RS200 with a Best Lap Time of 51.121 and a Top Speed of 85.06mph. Very Fast Drive from Wayne to take P2 and a Very Solid Drive Thought.
In Third Place was (Michael Saunders) in his Ford Escort MK1 Mexico with a Best Lap Time of 51.129 and an Average Speed of 85.05mph. Very Well Driven by Michael Being Able to Keep up with Both Wayne and David Must Have Ben a Real Pain but what a Fantastic Achievement.

Enduro KA (Qualifying)
The Final Qualifying Session of the Day Had Come and its the Enduro KA'S. with all of the Cars on the Grid being Models of the Popular Ford KA made Between 1998-2009 thease Cars were Fun City cars that could get you from A to B with Ease. They were Also Build on a tight budget meaning that Handling Performance and Comfort were a Big Selling point of thease Brilliant little cars.
The Racing Versions seen here in the pictures however are built for Racing. they use different tyres but still the same Legendary 1.3 Dura Tec Engine found in their Road Going Counterparts.
Lets Take a look at Qualifying and see which KA and Driver made it to the top step of the podium.
Enduro KA (Qualifying)

In Second Place was (Fat Boys Racing Matt Pinny) with a Lap Time of 1:03.584 and an Average Speed of 67.51mph. Well Done there Matt Improving up to P2 and Taking Home a Well Deserved Finish in the Standings for Race 3.
In Third Place was (Alex Reade Motorsport's Luke Reade and Chris Reade) with a Lap Time of 1:03.606 and an Average Speed of 67.44mph. Very Good Come Back Drive for Both Luke and Ale to Finish Third Great Driving.
Many Twists and Turns Have Benn brought into Race 3 with the Top Three Drivers now being Shuffled Around the Gird into different Positions. With One More Race to Go who will be The Last Driver of the Day on the Top Step of the Podium.

In First Place was (Octane Junkies Adam Smith and Martyn Smith) with a Lap Time of 1:03.442 and an Average Speed of 67.82mph. An Amazing Final Win for the Day to Octane Junkies Adam and Martyn Smith Congratulations and Very Well Driven.
In Second Place was (Piston Heads Peter Dignan) with a Lap Time of 1:03.781 and an Average Speed of 67.54mph. Incredible work there Peter Getting P2 and Standing on the Podium and Incredible Achievement.
In Third Place was (IP Racing Oliver Wilmot and Scott Parkin) with a Lap Time of 1:03.710 and an Average Speed of 67.47mph. Very Well Done to both Scott and Oliver on that Fantastic P3 Achievement. Something Very Special to Remember for both of you.

These custom instrument supports are fabricated from hot dipped galvanized carbon steel. The supports vary in heights up to 5' and widths from 18" to 24". A total of 126 stands will be used to support instruments at an oil refinery. PT&P offers a complete line of adjustable and welded instrument supports in various mounting styles.
All eight dancers from the dress rehearsal of 'Sibilo' by Scottish Ballet which is part of their Autumn 2016 touring programme.
Choreography is by Sophie Laplane
The dancers are: Nicholas Shoesmith, Claire Souet, Thomas Edwards, Constance Devernay, Barnaby Rook Bishop, Mia Thompson, Victor Zarallo and Sophie Martin.

The Rhode Parish Gathering Festival and Irish Autism Action 10km and 5KM road races and fun runs were held in Rhode, Co. Offaly, Ireland on Sunday February 17th 2013 at 12:00. These run events were held to support the Rhode Parish Gathering Festival and Irish Autism Action. The race start and registration were at the Rhode GAA Grounds and the finish was in the village at The Village Bar & Lounge following. The 10KM Loop took in Rathcobican, Ballybrian and Fahy back into the village. The run / walk shower facilities were available in Rhode GAA grounds and tea and sandwiches were available for all competitors in O’Toole’s Lounge and the showing of last years’ 100k DVD was shown while the tea and sandwiches were been enjoyed. There was a really big crowd of participants here and it was great to see so many families support this worthy cause!

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

A total of 295 cryogenic pipe supports ranging from 4" to 38" NPS were designed for a LNG regasification facility in India. The shoe and bearing plates were fabricated from carbon steel, the jacket was fabricated from aluminized steel and includes a vapor barrier. 20 PCF high density polyurethane foam was used for the insulation.

GRAFENWOEHR, Germany. (May 6, 2017) – A U.S. Army HH-60 Black Hawk from C Company, 2-12th Combat Aviation Brigade lands at the Grafenwoehr Health Clinic helipad on Tower Barracks, Saturday, May 6 to pick up mock casualties for the ten minute evacuation flight to the St. Marien Klinikum in Amberg, Germany, during a Multinational Trauma Life Support and Emergency Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) training exercise. The HH-60 is well known for its MEDEVAC role, as well as its combat search and rescue functions. The exercise was conducted in two phases, the first taking place in Grafenwoehr and built around a scenario wherein mock-injured Soldiers involved in a live-fire training accident in the adjacent Grafenwoehr Training Area (GTA) are rushed to the Grafenwoehr Health Clinic for immediate treatment and triage after an explosive device malfunctions. The mock casualties were then MEDEVAC’ed to the larger German partner medical facilities located 27 miles away in the city of Amberg.

KISSIMMEE, FLA. – Four Soldiers from Mission Support Element, 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), joined thousands of service members, veterans and their families who gathered at the Westgate Resort in Kissimmee for free food, live music and heartfelt fellowship during the second annual Military Appreciation Weekend Concert held May 5, 2018.
Westgate Resorts’ CEO David Siegel opened the property to more than 1,500 military families for a complimentary, three-night stay that culminated in a free concert that featured the Chris Weaver Band.
Alongside the complimentary concessions and children activities, the 143d ESC Soldiers set up and managed two static displays featuring one of the unit’s Humvees and Light Medium Tactical Vehicle. The vehicles attracted hundreds of children, dozens of young adults and even a few veterans who climbed aboard the driver’s seat, donned an Advanced Combat Helmet and put their hands on the steering wheel.
In addition to the dozens of pop, rock, country and R&B songs played by the Chris Weaver Band, the concert offered a military flair complete with the presentation of the colors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Command Post 4287, the singing of the national anthem by American Idol contestant Alyssa Raghu and a helicopter flyover conducted by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
Among the long list of VIPs was Florida Gov. Rick Scott who shook hands and took pictures with the 143d ESC Soldiers.
The concert concluded with fireworks that illuminated the night sky, its colorful patterns bouncing off thousands of fluttering flags and smiling faces.
