Happy Easter!
Made from various scraps and strings 2" and less from my scrap hoard. 59" by 71". I used the method described in a tutorial at Film in the Fridge (found here: filminthefridge.com/2009/04/27/a-string-quilt-block-tutor...). Binding is Itty Bitty RicRac by LakeHouse Designs and backing is a sheet from Ikea. I pieced it with Aurifil 50 wt and machine quilted it as well with 50 wt, using a variegated rainbow thread for the bobbin and light gray for the top thread. Completed August 15, 2014.

Each of our souls is the vibrating string of the violin;resonating from the most profound sub-atomic level to the celestial reaches beyond. Music is the portal that allows us to connect our spirit to the sublime, and to grasp our place in it. (from the program guide)

A couple of years ago my aunt gave me a bunch of fabric from her attic. In it was a box of ruffles made from 70's and 80's Pierre Deux fabrics. This quilt top is made from those ruffles (now de-ruffled) ... foundation pieced in 9" squares.
This is the cuff that I made, using a guitar string for decorative coiling. Wow, is that guitar string hard to maneuver! Anyway, I'm not totally happy with the cuff, it's a little clunky.
But, what I wanted to show you all was the heavy wire that I made the frame out of. It's stainless steel, but could be easily made from silver.
Anyway, I started with three really long strands of thin (probably 16-18g) round wire, clamped it, and used a drill to twist them together in a clockwise direction. I did this three times, to make three different strands of twisted wire, all the same length. Then I clamped all three strands of twisted wire together, and using the reverse on my husband's drill, I twisted them together in a counterclockwise direction, and got this lovely, ropelike wire to work with.
So, this is how I have brought my knowledge of fiber arts and spinning to jewelry making, lol. This is exactly how to make a triple plied yarn. :-)

Some of the bulkhead rebates needed a little reshaping to accommodate the sweep of the the stringer, and some just needed a thin handsaw blade worked in, flat against the stringer to get a nice fit, but very little adjustment seemed necessary to get a fair curve on the stringers...this may of course be because they aren't as good as they seem from the views available in my shed, but whatever, I'm stuck with them now.
Since posting this pic and writing the above, a few minor adjustments have been made. If you look at B3 intersecting the top stringer, you will notice that the stringer is a fraction too high in it's run down to the lowest point of the curve. I've adjusted it downwards about 3mm on B3 and about 2mm on B2.
