Sydney Apple Store - 18 March 2008

You can see they are well on the way to putting the glass face up

Need to add some typical Canuck beer cans and bottles.

For those who care, it was a hazelnut capp.

twitter.com/chrispirillo - I don't think this section placement juxtaposition was coincidental. Of course, the law is much more researched after marriage... so, if anything, they should have flipped their order.

Seven Beech T-34B Mentor aircraft have been roaded into Pensacola Ferguson Airport from nearby NAS Pensacola where they were stored.

There may be another one under cover and not inspected.

I'm not a musician, but it looked to me that the music store that had this broken guitar on its door also had a large inventory of very nice musical instruments.

I wonder if there's a story behind the trashing of this guitar.

Goulburn has become the home of many EMD built Bulldog locomotives that have become excess to needs.

Most are available for sale as of the time the photos were taken.

I had two appointments at the Apple Store this afternoon, one at the Genius Bar and one for a One-to-One lesson. I was there for about 90 minutes and was awed by the constant crowd of people. I had a great hour with an Apple teacher, who helped me learn more about iCloud and straighten out the accounts on all four of my devices (iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPod Touch), so that they are all syncing properly to iCloud. Apple's customer service is the best! Although, I may not choose to appoints on a Sunday afternoon in the future, as it was a bit noisy and distracting with such a crowd.

My Great Grand Father's Souvenir store in Manitou Springs, Colorado. This photo is from a different year, there is a new addition to the the store. There is a bay window to the left. That is Charles Dickens house. This was on Ruxton Ave, for those who care.

This is about as close as I've gotten to them ever, I've been chasing the genealogy for years from Kentucky to here. However it was my nephew who found these photos and that there might be living relatives still in the Springs area.

Store manager Amanda Sundvor is pysched about her new job!

Meridith Clark occasionally operates the Poem Store at the Ballard Farmer's Market in Seattle. Meredith sets up with a wooden box to sit on with her "laptop", a vintage Royal Deluxe, 5 x7 parchment paper and puts out her "shingle". You tell her what you would like your poem to be about and she will have it done in 5 or 10 minutes. Cost: whatever you feel like giving.

Since I was wearing an oyster costume in the spirit of Halloween and it is the beginning of oyster eating season, I asked for an oyster poem. From the Poem Store:

Oysters:

Bedded in the shallows, tide

above, and below, leaning

into the waves, rising

where the waters go. Two

shells grey and going green,

one soft unseen. Sweet

with the sea, punctuated

with salt, with rock with all that happens with this ocean

and that moon. Knife, champagne and lemon, coming soon.

This house was built in 1898 in Flateyri, North-Western Iceland. It was a general store at first but soon it began selling books as well. The children of the village would flock to the store every time a new shipment of comics or toys arrived.

The store management stayed in the same family for nearly 100 years but in 2003 Minjasjóður Önundarfjarðar took over and runs it as an interactive museum of sorts during the summertime.

The store's interior is still original and it's primary merchandise today is used books. You buy your literature there by weight, 1.000 kr. per 1 kg (~2 pounds). They also sell vintage candy and have a large collection of vintage dolls on display.

A drug store sign in Azuchi... As the son of a pharmacist, I think this is hilarious. Just pop those pills! Never seen anyone do it quite like that, but whatever works.

This photo will be featured in a book about drug stores around the world... I don't know the title yet, but it will be published in 2009. It also appears in the January 2009 edition of the Dutch medical journal Nederlands Tijdschift voor Geneeskunde, page 108. The accompanying article is here.

Traveling downtown Portland in the pouring rain. Passing a store front with no time to retrieve my camera.

A slightly farther view of the Apple store at night. You can see the crowds inside more clearly here. The crowd was probably a tad unusual due to the large number of mainland tourists in HK due to the Chinese New Year holidays. There were times I feared the island would sink! (so to speak). Week 30 - Fill the Frame - at Compositionally Challenged

365 day 209

Toledo, Washington, has a population of 700. There is not enough business to support an auto parts store or a feed store or a hardware store. One enterprising couple is doing their best to make a go of this store. They also serve espresso, soft serve ice cream, and burgers. And they have gas pumps, a tow truck, and a small auto repair shop around back.

January 11, 1963 - Okay, I need help figuring out where this one was taken. What a neat old cluttered store!
