At the water's edge on Lake Chapman I got some shots of plants as the sun set through them. At this time, the lake sounds different with the frogs and bugs getting louder for the night
A few years ago, a friend gave me an aloe plant. Since then, that plant has grown quite big and continues to produce babies. I’ve transplanted at least 20 so far and she doesn’t seem to show any signs of stopping. I keep giving them away to family and friends. :-) This was taken while the plant was sitting in the setting sun in the living room window.
I’ve been shooting mainly with my iPhone lately, but I pulled out my Nikon for this shot. I’m gonna have to do that more often when I’m home. I just don’t like carrying all those lenses anymore when I go out.
I like the subject theme and clouds. :-)
I decided that a cropped version was better.

Buddy (my Yellow Lab), and I went for a walk behind the house this afternoon and enjoyed the late afternoon sun.
This was the last shot I took of the sun setting behind the mountains on Vancouver Island before the start of the eclipse. Darkness was already falling as can be seen by the outlines of the mountains, the transport ship and the dark water of Burrard Inlet.
Setting sun over some islands off the coastline of Hong Kong. taken from the back of a boat following a visit to one of the islands.

Colourful sky above the abandoned Rachid Karami International Fair in Tripoli, Lebanon. Shot using a high ISO and a wide aperture to allow for the low light.
Written in late spring, 2020: The river is just below flood stage now; this is the dam at the center of Fargo-Moorhead, on the Red River of the North, where normally there is a drop of at least three feet.
Written months later: We didn't know what was going to be worse here, a flood or COVID, though everyone knew that fighting a flood under COVID restrictions would be impossible. This photo was taken just as the threat of widespread flooding was clearly diminishing.
At that point the virus hadn't reached our region in great enough numbers to clearly demonstrate to everyone that the precautions and restrictions were necessary, either, leading to widespread resistance. The virus came, of course, and with a vengeance, exacerbated by the stubborn, ignorant resistance formed earlier, which was itself exacerbated as Donald Trump politicized the issue and encouraged outright rebellion. Though North Dakota is a small state, with (previously) just 700,000 population, over 1 person in a thousand has died as a result.
Our last day in the Netherlands was a whirlwind of trains and hoofing it around the Amsterdam region. First to Zaanse Schan to see the windmills and then to Zandvoort Beach which was a perfect ending to a our 10 day trip.
Unaltered RAW image turned jpg in my phone. I couldn't even get it into my computer without losing its color beyond repair. The one time an image should be shot Jpg. Saw great things today though

View of a bright summer sunset, across the river from Manhattan. The setting sun is about to disappear behind the Hoboken skyline.
Claire wanted an edgy session for her senior portraits. She chose the location. Which happens to be one of the oldest cemetery in Texas.

I will be away almost all of Wednesday...and may not have any time for commenting at all....I'll see you on Thursday!
Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder... I love these Marabou Storks, with their hairy heads and throat sacs.. Once again, I managed to catch this guy as the sun was going down behind him...

it is a new harbour - must have cost a fortune to build it.

Heading away from the evening setting sun and Roby station in the background, GB Railfreight loco 60056 leads a rake of loaded hoppers eastbound. It approaches Huyton station, as it hauls the 6E24 loaded train from Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station.
Thank you Susanne and Nicolai for a wonderful dinner (((:

As several people have commented on the crispness of the new camera's lens, I thought I'd post three deliberately-out-of-focus shots I took last week :-)
This is a shot of late-afternoon sun catching a row of glasses in the kitchen at work. Some nice greens.
