I like the glow on the sea as the sun sinks behind the horizon line.

Buildings assume characterstic appearance when lighted by lateral light of a setting or rising sun and it has fascinated me immensely.
Newton and I walked down to the lake the other day. There is a new Beaver Lodge this year. I even heard a beaver but have not seen one here, yet! But, Newton enjoyed the walk and apparently had a sense of the special place he was in...far from the city.

If You Go Away
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you go away
On a summer day
Then you might as well
Take the sun away
All the birds that flew
In the summer sky
When our love was new
And our hearts were high
When the day was young
And the nights were long
And the moon stood still
For the night bird's song.
If you go away
If you go away
If you go away
But if you stay
I’ll make you a day
Like no day has been
Or will be again
We'll sail the sun
We'll ride on the rain
We'll talk to the trees
We'll fly with the wind
But if you go away
When I love you so
There’ll be nothing left
In the world you know
Just an empty moon
Full of empty space
Like the empty look
I see on your face.
If you go away
If you go away
If you go away
But if you stay
I’ll make you a day
Like no day has been
Or will be again
We'll sail the sun
We'll ride on the rain
We'll talk to the trees
We'll fly with the wind.
If you go away
If you go away
If you go away

This is one of my old slides that I'm scanning. I have no idea where I took this, when I took this or with what. Hope I was having a good time.
This was the sunset on June 20th, one of the longest days of the year, in Western Michigan (well, Northern lower peninsula Michigan)... It was a beautiful end to a long day!
The sun had set on an amazing day in the savannah. The landscape was like a water colour painting, hues of orange and yellow bursting through the sky. The setting sun also brought with it a silence that is so unlike the usual action-packed wild! As we headed back to our lodge, the animals started dwindling in numbers and a cool breeze reminded us of how fortunate we were to have witnessed this sunset.

Iv'e got to say i didn't expect this tonight, left my house at 6-30 was all set up thinking the sky was a bit grey, then the sun appeared and disappeared just as quick, 10mins later this happened, iv'e never witnessed colours like it, with a 3 stop ND grad and a 3 stop ND pro glass filter and a 10 second exposure this is the result, no saturation or any other setting have been used, this is straight out of the camera
..and also the time that we'll be moving to Ankara is approaching...(in May)..Yet,there's so much stuff to do ! I have to visit my flickr friends only when I feel too tired to do anything else... I'm no different from a turtle,I know..Apologies:)
Wish you all a wonderful day :)

This is the sunset at Des Moines. Washington, right at golden hour! I had been wanting to get some sunset pictures for the longest time. I hadn't really gotten but one or two on my road trip, so my husband was endeavoring to get us there by sunset. We got there just in time! haha! It's about a 45-minute drive up to there, so I knew we were cutting it a little close, but he managed to pull it off! What a glorious sunset too! Hope you enjoy!

@ Newcastle upon Tyne
Taken on the Newcastle quayside, at the point at which the Tyne and Millennium bridges align.
It turned out that the processing needed to be darker than I originally intended, due to the adverse effects of flare. As a consequence, the sun looks less like a celestial ball of fire and more like a large torchlight battling with the clouds.
This is among my favourite images from this experience. It filled me with… all sorts of good. The breathless, heart-stopping kind. Here's the song the title is drawn from. Not 100% relevant lyrics, but the song is rockin' anyway. If you like bluesy rock'n'roll.
This is in the "sunken city" region of the Salton Sea, to the north. This entire area used to be underwater. Well, it used to not be underwater. Then it was, for years… around four feet deep. And now, it's not again. The entire area is filled with these giant bird's nests in the dead trees… pelicans, I suspect, but I'm not much of a bird watcher. You can see some more of the nests in the background. It has very little to do with urbanity, as there's not much city to it, it's mostly referring to the trees. But I do have more images of some of the structures and urban materials that were indeed submerged and then left to dry, and those will be posted soon!
Sigh. This was really, really special. If you want to see a shot of Tasha and I in our full on mud-wading desert-exploring regalia, I've blogged it.
Image #2 of the series. I'm glad I went back at different times of the day to shoot. I really like the differences the light created for the scene.

Grey wolf on ridge basking in the last rays of the winter setting sun.
Taken on a Minolta camera on manual exposure setting and the lens was a big clunky Sigma 600mm Mirror lens that only had two focus options...manual focus and manual focus. Having said that I miss using these old film cameras and counting every frame of the 36 exposure film.
