Back to colour, and oh what colour there was in the light on this evening, or i suppose I should say afternoon taken at the edge of the pond at Hillside Park in Lamont just before 4PM.
EDIT: Here I thought that this was taken with my old manual focus 28mm prime...Duhh! Sorry for the confusion
"... forgiveness is like this: a room can be dank because you have closed the windows, you've closed the curtains. But the sun is shining outside, and the air is fresh outside. In order to get that fresh air, you have to get up and open the window and draw the curtains apart."

This is the Canadian side of Juan de Fuca Strait at Muir Beach, looking southwest toward the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. I used to live five minutes from here. The shoreline runs off toward those distant trees for a couple of kilometres and is accessible in all but the highest of high tides. Behind me, the estuary where Muir Creek empties into the strait.
The beach is ordinary and wonderful at the same time, and that's what I love about it. First sand, then boulders, then cobbles and gravel, then more sand, then flat sandstone: the terrain underfoot constantly changes, in part due to how far up the waterline happens to be at any given time. At low tide the tide pools will offer up all sorts of intertidal life forms; turn over any flat rock and be amazed. Just replace it carefully! In the water you may see herons, ducks, seals, otters; eagles cruise overhead, sometimes chased by ravens. Little birds flit at the edge of the forest: wrens, kingbirds. Kingfishers cackle. Cormorants cluster together on offshore rocks to dry their wings.
It's one of those places where you'll likely use telephoto, macro, and wide angle lenses in a single outing. On this winter afternoon, after a long walk, I used a wide angle lens and collapsed my tripod down low for a view of the rapidly sinking sun. However, my subject is really the foreground, with its details of bird tracks in the sand, rivulets, and warm highlights against the deeper blue of water and wet rock.

Branches of left tree formed AL letters shape and I added my Ryuu (dragon) watermark sign on the right, lol.
AL could mean short form of a name, my name, lol ;-)
I like the glow on the sea as the sun sinks behind the horizon line.

Buildings assume characterstic appearance when lighted by lateral light of a setting or rising sun and it has fascinated me immensely.
Newton and I walked down to the lake the other day. There is a new Beaver Lodge this year. I even heard a beaver but have not seen one here, yet! But, Newton enjoyed the walk and apparently had a sense of the special place he was in...far from the city.

If You Go Away
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you go away
On a summer day
Then you might as well
Take the sun away
All the birds that flew
In the summer sky
When our love was new
And our hearts were high
When the day was young
And the nights were long
And the moon stood still
For the night bird's song.
If you go away
If you go away
If you go away
But if you stay
I’ll make you a day
Like no day has been
Or will be again
We'll sail the sun
We'll ride on the rain
We'll talk to the trees
We'll fly with the wind
But if you go away
When I love you so
There’ll be nothing left
In the world you know
Just an empty moon
Full of empty space
Like the empty look
I see on your face.
If you go away
If you go away
If you go away
But if you stay
I’ll make you a day
Like no day has been
Or will be again
We'll sail the sun
We'll ride on the rain
We'll talk to the trees
We'll fly with the wind.
If you go away
If you go away
If you go away

This is one of my old slides that I'm scanning. I have no idea where I took this, when I took this or with what. Hope I was having a good time.
This was the sunset on June 20th, one of the longest days of the year, in Western Michigan (well, Northern lower peninsula Michigan)... It was a beautiful end to a long day!

The sun had set on an amazing day in the savannah. The landscape was like a water colour painting, hues of orange and yellow bursting through the sky. The setting sun also brought with it a silence that is so unlike the usual action-packed wild! As we headed back to our lodge, the animals started dwindling in numbers and a cool breeze reminded us of how fortunate we were to have witnessed this sunset.
