The night of the perseid meteor shower peak. I camped at Fort Wilkins State Park. A short walk and a few clicks in yielded this nice fireball. Seconds before I hit the shutter button for this session, twin fireballs brighter than this streaked across the sky. I'll take what I can get.

The Southern Cross (at top) and Pointer Stars (below) rising over the Tasman Sea from the Green Cape Lighthouse, in New South Wales Australia. This is a stack of 4 x 45 second exposures for the ground and clouds (to smooth noise) and a single 45-second exposure for the stars. With the 14mm f/2.5 Rokinon lens, and Canon 6D at ISO 6400.
Picture I took at a star party at the McDonald Observatory in west Texas. The observatory is part of the University of Texas and several times a month they have a star party that the public can attend to see the stars and look through telescopes. I took my daughter out to this.
After the event was over, I grabbed my camera and set up to take a few quick shots with the telescopes as a foreground. Not a great time of year for the Milky Way, but I caught a bit of it. It was a nice clear evening.
The lens is a Rokinon 14mm, f/2.4 prime. It works well enough for astrophotography.
The red lights were overpowering in this picture. In Lightroom I put a mask over the red lit areas and brought the exposure down by a stop.
I stayed up late and drove 50 miles to the west. I wanted to get away from light pollution the best I could, and catch a show.
While setting up, I saw two great streaks zoom across the whole sky while setting up, so I thought I would really be in luck.
Then I let my camera shoot. And shoot. And shoot. And...I got this. Yup, 45 minutes of shooting during "60-100 meteors per hour" and I get one on camera. Lame.
At least I got some other cool shots.

With the days here in Orlando feeling more like fall (75-80 degrees), I figured a Hogwarts shot would be appropriate. Thanks for looking!

Wanted to post something so went through some images from a recent visit. Decided to do a little black and white with some additional tweaks. This location is slowly being renovated, no work has been done in it for quite a while. It still retains that abandoned flavor despite having been cleared of most of the debris.
