I stayed up late and drove 50 miles to the west. I wanted to get away from light pollution the best I could, and catch a show.
While setting up, I saw two great streaks zoom across the whole sky while setting up, so I thought I would really be in luck.
Then I let my camera shoot. And shoot. And shoot. And...I got this. Yup, 45 minutes of shooting during "60-100 meteors per hour" and I get one on camera. Lame.
At least I got some other cool shots.

Wanted to post something so went through some images from a recent visit. Decided to do a little black and white with some additional tweaks. This location is slowly being renovated, no work has been done in it for quite a while. It still retains that abandoned flavor despite having been cleared of most of the debris.
There's a shooting star in the photo also.

Thinking about putting that one up on a wall at home.
As stars fade into daylight I feel like the endless possibilities solidify into the most probable. Although this is titled waking up, this is the last shot before returning to camp and sleeping until noon.

Bristol Wells Nevada. Composite of about 100 each 20 sec exposures at ISO 4000 using a manual focus 14mm Rokinon lens. With the moon being about 1/2 full, no light painting was needed to light the foreground.
It's nice to have a big backlog of photos to edit and post when I don't have time to go out and shoot... however, I feel a bit like I'm going through shooting withdrawal. I haven't picked up my camera to take an photos in what feels like more than a week. Maybe this weekend. Right now I'm trying to fight off a cold;)

I have been exploring the landscape of this glacial terrain, I call it an Esker: a river under the ice but it is probably more complex than that. The hummocky landscape is full of lakes and trees and wildlife. this view is looking East toward Airdrie 26km away and the Milky way in vertical position. The faint Aurora is on the left horizon.
