HDR photo of Beaver Pond at the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary - 10/09/2020. A peaceful day and peaceful view. Looking out toward the marshes.
Somewhere between Copper Harbor and Eagle Harbor in Michigan, the Aurora Borealis dances faintly over Lake Superior.
Last night was amazing for night sky photography. New moon, clear, and warm. Before I even got to my destination, I pulled off to grab a quick picture of Venus setting at twilight (you can make out Saturn above and to the left). I was amazed at how visible the Milky Way was already, as astronomical twilight didn't end for another hour and fifteen minutes. Lots more pics to come from this outing!
This shot was with my 6D, 14mm Rokinon at f/2.8, 30 second exposure.
This is the next image in my abc's of photography project. L is for light; preferably that magical, golden light that occurs twice a day.
odc - seen from above. That is the Belle Aire neighbourhood and golf course seen from the second story of my home on the edge of the escarpment.

It was this man's images that spurred my curiosity in rooftopping a few years ago. Looking back on it, spending hours on this crane with Tom and Erik was probably one of the most memorable days up high.

Summer storms rumble through the Mount Shasta area at sunset. Their collision with the mountains brought lightning (seen crashing over Black Butte in the distance) and heavy rains, but also some epic skies if you were out of their direct path. This is the northern-looking view from the ridge above Castle Lake, at the edge of Heart Lake, in the Klamath Mountains. [Canon 6d / Rokinon 14mm f/2.8]

This storm knocked out power for 24hrs. Hull, Massachusetts. Only the second time I've captured lightning. Plugged in a trigger and took multiple exposures till finally I hit the trigger and this display lit up the sky.
Milky way images from Valley of the Gods Utah.
Valley of the Gods is a scenic sandstone valley that features stunning geologic formations. The statuesque formations are sculpted from Cedar Mesa sandstone dating to the Permian period, around 250 million years ago. Eroded by water, wind and ice over millions of years, the rock was carved into the unique buttes, monoliths (single massive stone or rock), pinnacles and other geological features seen today.

So on Saturday night I decided to head on out to Alvord Desert since it's not that far as the crow flies.
Hoping to get some decent footage of the Aurora. I did get a short show but it died out fairly quickly. I did manage to shoot footage of that short show (Coming soon) and also this 37 minute star trail shot. I know there are more spectacular shots of this incredible event and I applaud you all!
Mother Nature doing all the light painting for me!

Wanted to post something so went through some images from a recent visit. Decided to do a little black and white with some additional tweaks. This location is slowly being renovated, no work has been done in it for quite a while. It still retains that abandoned flavor despite having been cleared of most of the debris.
