On the hunt for prey.

Scientific name: Myiagra inquieta

Sex: Unknown

Location: Capertee Valley, NSW, Australia.

Thank you to everyone who visits, faves, and comments.

There are few more aptly named birds than the Restless Flycatcher. This bird is an exercise in perpetual motion, constantly moving from perch to perch and hawking insects. However, even that is not the bird's most distinctive feature. It could easily be called the Concrete Mixer Flycatcher, because its call sounds for all the world like a concrete mixer spinning a load of aggregate. I got this male on a cloudy day at the Peechelba Hall, a tin shed in the middle of the bush in rural Victoria.

Species #207.

The most disposable element of the disposable pop market (that is being recovered here) is the paper sleeve protecting the fragile grooves from inevitable degradation. Even these items, virtually ignored until now, have reached the Ebay resale market. Perhaps these will act as the only clue in your search for the regional (rather than the multi-national), let alone as a tenuous homage to the anonymous corporate designer.

The sleeves pictured above aren’t the rarest of examples (and I do love those regional small label paper sleeves), but I thought it interesting to show the changes in the designs of two corporate giants.

For the more obscure 45rpm paper sleeves, let me point you in the direction of a dedicated blog:

Just goes to show . . . the tactile quality of any recovered object can engender such a fondness in the collector's heart that a niche (defined in this case as the space reserved for an iconic object) is created so we can all let our minds wander and speculate about who, when and where . . .

I shot this in one shot. The only digital manipulation is curves & coloring. This shoot was my first experimentation with long exposure, and shooting it with my mkii involved lots of creativity, blankets, towels, my remote and a flashlight.

This is the third video of surgery on Tim's legs for Restless legs Syndrome. In this video you'll see the decompression of his superficial peroneal nerve tunnel. This nerve tunnel in your leg is often the cause of the symptoms you experience in the lower part of your leg extending down towards your foot and ankle. I commonly refer to Restless Legs by a new term, Restless Legs Compression Syndrome as for many patients compression on nerves in the legs from tight tunnels can be the cause. Tim is back home in Pennsylvania enjoying uninterrupted sleep. If you'd like to learn more about how you can eliminate your misery and get your life back go to our website. The Manic Mommies are joined by Abigail Jones, co-author of the new book "Restless Virgins", the riveting real-life story of a group of seniors at Milton Academy, a prestigious New England prep school, which was rocked by a sex scandal in 2005.

Abigail and the Mommies discuss popularity, pressure, and the changing landscape of teenage sexuality today. This is an important conversation, but may not be something you want to listen to with small children around.

I need to find a place to hide. you never know what could be waiting outside, the accidents that you could find...it's like some kind of suicide. so, what ails you is what impales you. I feel like I've been crucified to be satisfied. I'm a victim of my symptom. I am my own worst enemy. you're a victim of your symptom. you are your own worst enemy. know your enemy.

The Restless was built in 1965 by "Hook Brothers" Teignmouth, She is the last of three boats built by Stanley Hook, Syd Hook and Jim Belton. She has been operating out of Teignmouth as a pleasure boat since then. The Restless was used as the Teignmouth Auxiliary Lifeboat for many years until the RNLI provided a boat for the town, The Coxwain was the current owner William Hook (Bill)

I liked the idea of having these flowers in the foreground with the misty creek in the background. The flowers were a bit spread out and so I grabbed hold of some of the stalks to move them in position and held them there. As the light was low, and even with iso800, the exposure was 0.8 seconds and my hand was not steady enough to keep the flowers still. Subsequently I open the aperture to increase the shutter speed and got unblurred flowers, but I found I liked the original blurred ones better. This is a composite of two exposures, the blurry exposure for the flowers and a second faster one to stop the sky from saturating

This breath is not smooth, this mind not still.

The dust is heavy beneath the bed.

Even in the storm, I sit and breathe.

New life is near. I bow my head.

Doesn't this look a scene where a cowboy has just paid a saloon girl and he would be sitting on the corner of the bed, just out of frame, bent over putting on his boots, as she leans against the doorway, with messed up hair and ...oh wait...did I just say that out loud....? ;-)
