I am restless.
I am athirst for far-away things.
My soul goes out in a longing
to touch the skirt of the dim distance.
O Great Beyond,
O the keen call of thy flute!

that I have no wings to fly,
that I am bound in this spot evermore.
I am eager and wakeful,
I am a stranger in a strange land.
Thy breath comes to me whispering
an impossible hope.
Thy tongue is known to my heart

This breath is not smooth, this mind not still.
The dust is heavy beneath the bed.
Even in the storm, I sit and breathe.
New life is near. I bow my head.
My wife Linda and I went camping up in north west of NSW on the weekend. Had a great time photographing birds and enjoying camping in the bush and relaxing by the camp fire. This bird and it's mate decided that the tree next to our tent was a great spot to spend time in and allowed full frame shots like this one. Restless Flycatchers make a most unusual grinding sound and in fact one of it's common names is "Scissors grinder". It was making that noise when I took this shot.

It is so quiet and peaceful, and I sit here, and ponder, and am restless. It is the quiet that makes me restless. It seems unreal. All the world is quiet, but it is the quiet before the storm. In one of the quietest areas we visited, some of the younger wildebeest seemed to be pretty restless and kept chasing each other.

Taken at Hunstanton the day before the government locked us all down. This was achieved with the required social distancing and was one of several where I practicing to see what effects different exposures gave me. I liked this one the best.
I took this shoot many month ago.
Never pass my standand at the point in time. So, I didn't post to share.
This pictures with the man and his restless look added something to this pictures. As you can see focus is out. I trying to learn to like blurred pictures more and more.

Hillston - Lake Woorabinda River Reserve. I love these birds, and tried very hard to video this pair as they did their "scissor grinder" call while hovering hoping to dislodge insects below. (I did get the call but not much of the vision :) and might post later).
February 1, 2011-- I have this problem with Restless Leg Syndrome. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, it basically means your legs have this itching to move. For me, it feels like something is crawling up my legs and I have to move them in order for it to stop. Or, in a severe case, my legs will just hurt if I don't move them. It doesn't happen terribly often, but last night I wasn't able to sleep at all because my legs were freaking out. So any free time I had today was spent in bed, trying to catch up on my Zzzzzs.
