More backlit stuff again. Decided to try some red wine. Shot this one at a bit too high of an angle so I had to crop the foot of the glass.. Already took apart the setup so I didn't really feel like washing the glass and taking a new shot =/
Backlit with a 430EX 1/2 power through a diffuser disc 42" wide.
One of the typical motives from Tuscany with it's beautiful combination of old buildings and Mediterranean flair.
Two red admirals playing around in my garden. Sitting down now and then and I took my chances to get them on my camera. Very happy about it. :)
I'm stuck in the house at the moment with a bad chest infection so thought I'd try an indoor flower shoot.
Getting the light right is the hardest part, I was either washing out the colours and textures or getting some very harsh shadows. In the end I went with a natural side light from moving closer to the window, but its still pretty harsh.
Now I know why people use/make full on light boxes and have 3000 flashes!

The exterior of a Church, which was perched up on top of a hill next to the beach where we spent many hours relaxing.
Despite being a very small cross, it added quite a bit of atmospheric light to the interior church.
Busy day today with the family, but will catch up tomorrow.

My backyard Maple Tree has become the caching spot for a pair of backyard Red-headed Woodpeckers. The birds are stashing seeds in a crevice on a tree branch. The birds fly over to the feeder, grab a seed or two and then fly back to the branch to eat the seeds and keep a few in there for later. What a treat to watch this nature show going on right before my eyes in my backyard.
"Artists can color the sky red because they know it's blue. Those of us who aren't artists must color things the way they really are or people might think we're stupid."
~ Jules Feiffer ~
Do you suppose barns would be painted blue if the sky really were red???

This is a non-HDR project. I did take different exposures for HDR shots, but in the end I decided to go with a regular version. I did make some edits in Lightroom and Photoshop to bring out the colors in the scene.
I was there with my cousin and friend who is the 350z owner. The place was really dirty with dust and there were some janitors with hoses and wipers but they weren't really doing anything. So we gave them some encouragement and they ended up cleaning that part of the parking lot level. During the whole shoot the janitors and security guards were watching us as we set up our gear and the car. Surprisingly enough the guards were quite helpful and didn't bother us at all. Unlike some other experiences I've had in similar lots before.
