Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death." This was made for a trade with another artist. I was given free rein, with the requirements being only that it should be a standing piece using red, grey, and/or black, and that it should have a dark feeling to it.
Gear: Canon 7D, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, 70mm

I love when everyday scenes present themselves so perfectly...and scream out to be photographed. This photos was one example of this magical moment. I had just parked my car and was about to get out when I noticed this tableaux directly in front of me. It was as if an art director showed up minutes before and staged it for me: the red cart; the red stripe on the stark, white wall; ​the black of the asphalt accentuated by the shock of yellow from the line; the hint of depth provided by the corner of the wall on the left. It all came together so perfectly and looked so beautiful to me. Naturally, I had my camera with me, so I took it out, made a few shots, and went on with my errands smiling.
Hawk in flight over the marina in Everglades National Park. My guess is a juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk.
Red Fox in the last light of a summer day image was shot at after 8pm. The golden light framed him well although he does lack a touch of detail due to shooting at 3.5. Image was shot in Cavendish Prince Edward Island.
A strong red tide along the San Diego County coastline is causing brilliant neon blue bioluminescence that's visible at night as tiny light-producing organisms get stirred up as the waves break.
