This is a composite of 5 images. The vase was placed in front of a light pad that was set up vertically.
These are a couple of juveniles ("red efts") of the Eastern Newt (Notophthalmus viridescens) that were on a hiking trail on our property in Mars Hill, NC. Efts often emerge after rains and can be seen roaming the forest floor during the day. They are loaded with skin toxins and the bright colors serve as warning coloration to potential predators.
Probably my favourite contemporary bus, the Volvo B9 is certainly a lovely drive. They ride well, far better than their B7 brethren despite the same suspension set-up, probably due to the extra weight of the upper deck. They also feel much more solid than the B7s too, although maybe not having quite the character of the early B7s in the 66xxx series rev higher and have kickdowns. a few red squirrels from yesterdays great day out with 'Chris Macloughlin' and 'black cat photos'..this one is bouncing a ball..haha..we had two of these wet squirrels chasing each other around for a few hours in the rain, this pale coloured one and a much darker brown little fellow, great fun watching them but hard to get a good action shot as the light was very bad. this at 1/80 sec iso 500

The red squirrel is so much cuter than his big ole city cousins. I've only seen them in rural areas and camping trips. They can be very entertaining, and they're so cute, they're practically chipmunks. Scan of on old print, limited Photoshop.
On Saturday I decided to photograph to something other birds! Here are some tulips growing near my apartment complex.
This seems strange that on a holiday, you would go to a cemetery... twice. But this was to photograph the Red Squirrels that are resident there and wild. They are apparently becoming more and more tame... these came to within a few metres.

More backlit stuff again. Decided to try some red wine. Shot this one at a bit too high of an angle so I had to crop the foot of the glass.. Already took apart the setup so I didn't really feel like washing the glass and taking a new shot =/

Two red admirals playing around in my garden. Sitting down now and then and I took my chances to get them on my camera. Very happy about it. :)
