The Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta) is a well-known colourful butterfly, found in temperate Europe, Asia and North America. The Red Admiral has a 45–50 mm (1.8–2.0 in) wing span.[ The species is resident only in warmer areas, but migrates north in spring, and sometimes again in autumn.

Have an excellent Weekend!
Tenham um excelente Fim de Semana!!
It has been a nice slow day. I decided to try cooking a Moroccan Tagine, a fancy name for an interesting chicken stew.
Part of the ingredients are red onion. When I sliced off the ends, the white/red pattern looked nice.
So I saved them.
My wife, bless her, threw them away, not realizing the sinister plan I had in mind for them.
The second shot is this.
I like how the density variation between the red and white bands caused a corresponding pattern in the spray.
It is also nice to make a shot using something I would have thrown away. For once, I am not wasting stuff.
Cheers.

I came across this hawk who was perched on top of this snag very near the trail. It was feeding on something stashed inside the top of the snag; possibly a squirrel. It was puzzling as rarely do Red-tailed Hawks let anyone approach this near them even when they have food. At first I thought it might be another type of hawk like a Rough-legged.
Red "rings" inwardly with a determined and powerful intensity. It glows in itself, maturely, and does not distribute its vigor aimlessly. ...
