The scales of the red spotted purple are able to interfere with white light and produce color. The blues and reds are generated from this process of wave interference called TFI short for thin film interference.

This year I was privileged to have a pair of Red-Whiskered Bulbuls choose my garden to build their nest. Initially both the parents were very shy and would run away the moment they saw me, but gradually they got used to me.. and on the day I took this shot.. the bird had come within 2 feet from me.. I was thrilled to see the bird come so close and pose for me... lol.. my first bird model ;-)

I couldn't find an angle to get the red spot to show but almost every other color in the rainbow showed up on this one. The berries are Lantana and Red Spotted Purples love to lick the berries after the bees open them up.

Per come sono andate le cose ieri sera posso ritenermi anche fortunato.

10 minuti dopo l'arrivo al punto di osservazione il cielo ha iniziato a coprirsi completamente e dell'eclissi non si è visto più niente. Avevo con me anche il telescopio ma ho fatto solo la fatica di montarlo e non ho potuto usarlo.

Questo è uno scatto fatto al volo appena arrivato e prima di montare il telescopio.

Avevo solo il 24-105 e quindi si tratta di un bel crop.

Vabè mi accontento visto che leggendo in giro c'è anche a chi è andata peggio. :P
