Beautiful to watch and to photograph...a red squirrel in its natural woodland setting.

The red squirrel is the UK's only native squirrel species, and was once a common sight across all of mainland Britain. Today, red squirrels are sadly absent from most of England and Scotland’s central belt, affected by the spread of the grey squirrel, introduced in the 19th century.

Only 120,000 red squirrels remain in Scotland, around 75% of the total UK population. Scotland is one of the only havens left for red squirrels, with areas in the north still remaining grey-free.

The weekend wasn't a total waste of time, I did manage to see some lovely Red Kites and take one or two pictures before I got ill!

Loving my 'Reds' at the moment......Just happy to see them at last! I toyed with the idea of putting up the 'feeder' shots but decided against it for the time being. I hope you all like this shot? It was taken when I first got to the site and was still rather dark and the little blighter wouldn't stay still. My next ones to be posted are portraits. Taken with my Nikon D70.

Floribunda rose called Chihuly. Not a very robust rose just yet. Still in a small planter.

A young Red-necked Pademelon, in the grounds of O'Reilley's Retreat, at Green Mountain, Qld. Some of them are quite used to people, still remaining cautious but not afraid. Only small, coming just up to the knee.

I will be having to redo Nerilka's faceup soon so I wanted to get in some more photos before I had to do that. She is wearing her usual unique fashion style, mixing stripes, dots and her fave color schemes of black, white and red.

A rose and some baby's breath, given to me by a wonderful girl who just finished Kindergarten. Another year over and time to recharge the batteries for the next one!

I seriously need some cupcake decorating lessons :) Otherwise delicious :)
