From the archives...

It was very breezy, I didn't have a macro lens and shooting these skittish guys is anything but easy - I don't have the MrClean charm. But funnily enough, although they didn't stay still very long, they always seemed to come back to the same place... at least once in a while. So you just had to wait and hope that the blade of grass they were holding on to didn't move too much. And then, of course, there was the issue that the dragonfly might be right in front of your nose, I mean lens, but you only got the butt of it to see...

View the dragon large on black.

Red Tape, awesome trail in Kapiti close to Paraparamu. A few narrow bits near the start with a decent drop to the side.

These impossibly elegant high heeled red shoes belonged to my mum, and I think illustrate this week's challenge theme.

The Red Shoes is one of many wonderful stories written by Hans Christian Anderson - with almost as gruesome an ending of some of the tales collected by the brothers Grimm.

"Shrinath Veer Mhaskoba" is one of the forms of Lord Shiva. It is a worshiped by the Shepard community in the West Maharashtra region. The villagers of "Veer' Village near Saswad town of Pune Dist., people from the region gather at the Temple for the God's Marriage & thecelebration goes on for 10 days. On the Marriage day, The Lord enters the Temple in a PALANQUIN & theCerebration of God's arrival starts with throwing the Red Colour & Flowers from all around. It is a unique experience.

A bright red anthurium seen at the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers, Golden Gate Park. Aside from the flower, I was drawn by the repetition in the shape of the leaf and flower.

The battery in my camera had just died, so my husband was kind to lend me his for a few shots. Have to get a second battery for that camera!

Named for the large red band and thread-like tails on the hind wing. Smaller than the diameter of my pinky finger, it landed on a leaf and was rubbing its wings together, like I rub my hands together.

Another early morning trip to Woburn. I finally caught some sun and had some nice light for a few minutes.

I have not seen many Red-tailed Hawks this fall compared to other years. I came across this one at Willband Creek Park.
