First time of trying this place and with high expectations of getting some good shots, it was the perfect opportunity. However, only 1 freight train headed towards Italy in 4hrs (arrived here just before 8am).
Anyway here we see OBB loco's 1144 288 (front), 1116 164 (middle) and 1144 221 (rear) make the climb out of Bad Hofgastein towards Villach on the 15/2/19.
Disappointingly 7 freights passed this location between 8am and Noon, but they were all going the other way. Maybe Friday's are not good for Italian traffic?
OBB Taurus loco 1216014 (E190014) was photographed on the outskirts of Matrei Am Brenner on the afternoon of the 2/5/17 working EC89 from Munich to Verona in Italy.
Here we see DB Cargo locomotive 66134 passing through Barrow-Upon-Trent on the evening of the 10/6/22 with 4V66 from Immingham to Margam Tidal.

On the evening of the 16/8/17, ZSSK 162002 was captured arriving into Turany, Slovakia with Os3470 from Poprad-Tatry to Zilina local stopping service.

Sadly shots like these with loco-hauled stock are largely confined to the history books now since the introduction of units on this beautiful line.

RhB ABe4/4iii railcars 56 (front) and 54 (rear) pass through Bernina Lagalb on the morning of the 24/2/19 with the 09:00 service from Tirano to St Moritz (R 1636)
Here we see DB Cargo locomotives 90020 (front) with the former Grand Central livery and 90021 (rear) newly reinstated to traffic, sporting its new Malcom Logistics livery including nameplate "Donald Malcom".
The livery on 90021 marks 100 years of Malcom Logistics "1922-2022" and this was the 2nd full day of running for 90021 since coming back to traffic
The loco's were captured on the outskirts of Barby on the afternoon of the 26/4/22 working 4M25 from Mossend Euroterminal to Daventry DIRF.
A new spot for lineside photography located between Wien and Breclav. Here we see OBB Taurus locomotive 1116 051 working the 12:27 service from Breclav to Wiener Neustadt on the bitterly cold afternoon of the 25/2/23. The train was captured in Tallesbrunn during a brief sunny spell.
A brand new spot for lineside photography at the time of taking this picture. Here we see MAV H-Start heritage locomotive 432 171 with the 08:03 service from Zahony to Debrecen (RE 6227). The train was captured near Debrecen-Csapokert station on the very very hot morning of the 19/8/24. The heat even at this time of the day was relentless.

The love affair with the Swiss Railways was marked on the RhB.
With the sun only just clearing the mountain, Ge4/4ii loco 621 was photographed working the 09:44 service from Disentis to Scoul-Tarasp (RE1728) on the morning of the 14/2/19 in Ilanz.
After being tipped off about this working with the heritage liveried locomotive, there was little time to get anywhere scenic or even an vantage point, so this was the best shot that could be mustered up given the time constraints
Anyway, here we see OBB locomotive 1144 117 working the 13:08 service from Salzburg to Worgl (REX1516) just as the sun was setting. A few moments later, the sun was lost to the mountains.
Running a bit late and passed just as nice cloud partially covered the sun. Here we see DRS locomotive 66427 working the 13:54 ballast working from Mountsorrel to Crewe Basford Hall on the afternoon of the 17/2/21. The train ran as 6U77 and was captured passing Barrow-Upon-Trent.
A brand new spot for lineside photography at the time of taking this image. Running about 15 minutes late, here we see Siemens Vectron locomotive 193 965 working the overnight Snälltåget Ski Train D305 from Malmo (Sweden) to Innsbruck (Austria) on the morning of the 8/2/25.
As you can see from this image, snow coverage was very poor on the day in question, which is rare at this location for February, which can be attributed to climate change and a warming world :-(
**For information, this was the not first time that this Vectron had appeared on this ski train during the 2024-2025 winter season**

Another Sunday only HST working by East Midlands Railway. Here we see the recently painted EMR power car 43274 lead 1C61 from Leeds to London St Pancras International with 43102 trailing at the rear of the consist. The train was captured passing through Duffield on the partial sunny afternoon of the 18/4/21.
An unusual quadruple convoy of Lokomotion engines pass through Langkampfen on the afternoon of the 9/2/20 which were returning to Kufstein. This working consisted of 3 different traction types and 4 different liveries. You will also notice that the front 3 locomotives all have their zebra lines all pointing the same way i.e. left to right.
The loco's were 186440 (front), 189901 (1st middle), 193651 (2nd middle) and 186443 (rear). Finally, It was great to see the pans up on the first and rear. All in all a rare and unusual working? You decide.
082 roars under the M9 at Knockmoylan bound for Portlaoise with the Laden steel from Belview , Waterford.
RhB ABe4/4 motor vehicles 55 and 51 work there way through the snow covered region of Ospizio Bernina on the afternoon of the 28/1/18 with the late running 10:48 service from St Moritz to Tirano.
Here we see DB Cargo Vectron locomotives 193320 (front) and 19335x (rear) pass through Wolf, Austria on the morning of the 9/11/21 with a loaded intermodal heading towards Brenner and beyond.
Almost out of time with the winter sun, here we see OBB Taurus locomotive 1216 012 (E190 012) passing through Matrei Am Brenner on the afternoon of the 7/2/20 with EC89 from Munich to Bologna.
DB Bahn Traxx locomotive 101 110 was photographed passing through Pfarrwerfen on the afternoon of the 7/2/19 with EC217 from Saarbrucken to Graz
From the archives - in a perfect winter wonderland, here we see OBB locomotive 1144 234 propelling the 07:51 service (with the Driver Van Trailer) leading from Worgl to Salzburg on the morning of the 12/2/22 just after sunrise. The train was captured on the outskirts of Gerling im Pinzgau, Austria.
This spot was accessed after walking 30 minutes from the local train station of Gerling im Pinzgau following a very early start, which at the time had a very irregular train service.

SBB ETR Class 470 no.470052 rounds the middle section of Wassen on the Gotthard in snowy conditions with a service from Milano to Arth-Goldau and beyond on the afternoon of the 2/2/15
073 crosses the river Barrow at Portarlington while working the 08:15 Ballina North Wall IWT liner. 073 was returning from Ballina after working the 15:10 North Wall-Ballina IWT the previous day. This had been 073s first day in service since its overhaul and repaint into the 1987 IR livery to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Company.

Journey Beyond Rail's 1AM8 Overland service from Adelaide to Melbourne exits the Eden Hills tunnel on the morning of the 29th of October 2023. The service is headed by Pacific National's NR38.
The service with 7 vehicles departed the Adelaide Parklands terminal slighty late, just before 0800 hours. It is due to arrive at Southern Cross Station in Melbourne in the late afternoon.
