Marienplatz U-Bahn Station, Munich, Germany
Slightly different photo editing on this one. Had this in my minds eye before I took the image however proved very difficult once I got it imported into Lightroom. I had messed up the lining up of all the lines which messed with my eyes slightly. You would have guessed how many times straighten it out in Lightroom to make it look like what I wanted. I think in the end I realised that the floor did slope slightly to the left of the picture and the ends of the arches did finish in slightly different places which basically meant I took the image from the wrong centre point. Ah well, that will teach me to take the image too quick but I am quite happy with this outcome. I hope you like it too.
I am hoping to get out with the camera a little bit over the Christmas period and also got a little time off work in the new year so looking forward to maybe visiting Manchester, Liverpool or Birmingham with my camera. Any recommendations where I should visit in these cities?

Location Information
München Marienplatz is an important stop on the Munich S-Bahn and U-Bahn network, located under the square of the same name in Munich's city centre. The S-Bahn lines S1, S2, S3, S4, S6, S7 and S8 intersect with the U-Bahn lines U3 and U6. The station is one of the most frequently used stations in the network, with up to 24,400 people transferring and 8,000 passengers entering or exiting each hour. In 2007, 175,400 used the station daily on weekdays, including entries, exits and transfers.
In October 1966 construction was started, finishing in October 1971 as part of the new S-Bahn network for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Until early 2003 there were almost no further refurbishments done at the station. From 2003 to 2006, the platforms of the U-Bahn were widened to expand passenger capacity and were lifted by 4 cm to secure same-level boarding.
Under the Zweite Stammstrecke ("Second main line") tunnel project, Marienplatz station is to be connected to a second station further north, Marienhof, via the enlarged subway access tunnels on the fourth level.

Westminster Underground Station, London, England
Another photo from a photowalk in March. This is one of my favourite underground stations, its very photogenic and also like the modern twist on the station when the Jubilee line got extended. Wanted to go for more of a gritty, dark urban feel with a bit of selective colour. You may notice a bit of noise in the photo but this was intentional as it was the feel I was looking for.
On a separate note, I got some really good news yesterday. I was told that my railway photo that I entered into Landscape Photographer of the Year 2011 (Network Rail category) and got commended will be in Amateur Photographer Magazine this week. I am so chuffed as this is my first ever published photo in a magazine and I am going to go out and buy it today. I do hope if you get to have a read of the magazine it also has all the other photos from the competition. The photo that I entered was this one

Information
Westminster is a London Underground station in the City of Westminster. It is served by the Circle, District and Jubilee lines. On the Circle and District lines, the station is between St. James's Park and Embankment and, on the Jubilee line it is between Green Park and Waterloo. It is in Travelcard Zone 1. The station is located at the corner of Bridge Street and Victoria Embankment and is close to the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, Whitehall, Westminster Bridge and the London Eye. Also close by are Downing Street, the Cenotaph, Westminster Millennium Pier, the Treasury, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Supreme Court.
The station is in two parts: sub-surface platforms opened in 1868 by the Metropolitan District Railway (MDR) as part of the company's first section of the Inner Circle route and deep level platforms opened in 1999 as part of the Jubilee line extension from Green Park to Stratford. A variety of underground and mainline services have operated over the sub-surface tracks, but the original station was completely rebuilt in conjunction with the construction of the deep level platforms and Portcullis House which sits above the station.

London Bridge Underground Station, London, England
I don't know how I missed this part of London Bridge Underground station with the amount of times I have visited this place. This is what I really like about photography, no matter how many times you look around a place there is always something new to take an image off, especially when you find a hidden gem like this.
You'll probably ask how I managed to get it so quiet, well I had to time it between trains as the Northern Line platforms are just down these tunnels and they seem to have quite a regular pattern so didn't have to wait too long to get a couple of empty tunnels :-).
The image was quite hard to take handheld with a shutter speed of 0.5 seconds, maybe I should have bumped up the ISO to 400 but I didn't want too much noise in this. The post processing involved a B&W conversion in Silver Efex Pro 2 and then bit of selective colouring with the yellow barriers. Then back into LR4 for sharpening etc and then into PTLens for distortion correction.
With regard to the little project of taking an image at each station for one London Underground line, I did get quite alot of positive response from you all with regard to it so I might do it very soon. I'm not sure how long it would take me but I think to start with I'll pick the shortest line.
Also I have had some good news with regard to one of my images but can't divulge the information yet, I'll keep you posted so watch this space! :-)

Information
The Underground station is between Borough and Bank on the Northern Line, and between Southwark and Bermondsey on the Jubilee Line. The station is the sixth busiest on the Underground network and is the only station on the London Underground network with 'London' in its name (while the NR termini are named, for instance 'London Waterloo' the Underground station is simply named 'Waterloo').
Originally Northern Line trains ran to a terminus at King William Street bypassing London Bridge, but the construction of a new station at Bank to provide greater capacity and allow northward extension required a new tunnel alignment, and provided the opportunity for a station at London Bridge. The station entrance was originally at Three Castles House on the corner of London Bridge Street and Railway Approach, but has since been moved to Borough High Street and Tooley Street. The Northern Line platforms were rebuilt during the late 1990s to increase the platform and circulation areas in preparation for the opening of the Jubilee Line.
The Northern Line station opened on 25 February 1900 as part of the City & South London Railway's (C&SLR's) revised route from Borough to Bank and Moorgate. The Jubilee Line station opened on 7 October 1999 as part of the Jubilee Line Extension, although trains had been running through non-stop from the previous month. To enable the Jubilee Line to be constructed, months of major engineering works to relocate buried services in the surrounding streets had to be undertaken. A new ticket hall was created in the arches under the main-line station, providing improved interchange. During excavations a variety of Roman remains were found, including pottery and fragments of mosaics; some of these are now on display in the station. The Jubilee Line platforms have been fitted with platform edge doors in common with all other stations on the extension.
There are two platforms on each line and two main sets of escalators to and from the Tooley Street ticket hall. All four platforms are directly accessible from the Borough High Street entrance/exit.

London City Airport DLR Station, London, England
This is a first visit for me to this station. Not the biggest station in the world but very symmetrical and its what I like :-). Had to wait a little while to get this shot as there were quite a few people slighting from the trains as they come into the station to go to the airport, I was quite surprised considering the size of City Airport.
I always really enjoy taking images of something new and fresh for myself so was well chuffed when I come across this station. I slightly desaturated the whole image in post production and added a little bit of green toning and then boosted the blues and yellows for the blue arches and yellow handrails. I think this would also look quite good in B&W conversion.
The only thing that has really annoyed me is in the white part of the glass canopy there seems to be quite a bit of noise. After closer inspection in LR4, its not on the original image that I have uploaded and seems to have appeared on Flickr so I put it down to the Flickr compression algorithms.
When I was at this station and waiting to go back into London I had a random thought on what percentage of the stations on the underground network I have visited. I feel although that I have taken many photos at them I bet the percentage is still quite small. I should do a project and pick one line and take an image at each station along the length of that line, that would be quite interesting.
Anyway, that was my random Monday thought. :-)

Information
London City Airport DLR station is a station on the Docklands Light Railway which serves the London City Airport. It opened on 2 December 2005. It is located on the King George V branch. Until the extension to Woolwich Arsenal, this station was the reason for this branch. It continues to be an important station on the DLR. Trains run westbound to Bank in the City of London and eastbound to Woolwich Arsenal. The station is in the London Borough of Newham and is located in Travelcard Zone 3.
The station (like many Docklands Light Railway stations) is elevated. It is also fully enclosed. There are two entrances to the station and the platforms are connected by escalators and lifts to an intermediate level with a direct link into the airport concourse. Main access to the station for local passengers and mobility impaired customers is by a lower level subway.
It has a direct covered connection with the adjacent airport terminal building. Although the station maintains the DLR philosophy of design, it makes concessions to cater for airport passengers, including a fully enclosed waiting room on the central island platform and, unusually for the DLR, a manned ticket office. There is a crossover west of the station which allows trains from Poplar and Woolwich Arsenal to reverse here during periods of disruption.
