With sunny conditions forecasted, it was time to cross the border from Austria to Italy. Unfortunately, the town and surrounding area of Mezzocorona and Trento was filled with human induced air pollution, which blocked the sun's rays and with little wind, the air pollution could not disperse.

Anyway, a slight breeze did pick-up from 13:00, which lifted some of the air pollution enabling some photography to be done. Here we see Rail Traction Group / Lokomotion engine EU43-001 rounding the curve in Mezzocorona on the afternoon of the 20/2/23 with a mixed freight enroute towards Trento and beyond.

Shepherds Bush Underground Station, London, England

UPDATE APRIL 2012 - #68 on Explore for 19.04.2012 - Had a nice surprise when I logged on so thank you very much everybody! :-)

I was in two minds to go into London yesterday as the weather here in the UK was rubbish, raining all yesterday morning but I thought I might as well.

Now this is a photo a place that is a revisit for me but was never happy with the photos that I got few years back so took along my fisheye.

It wasn't too busy and I didn't have to wait long for the two trains to come into the platforms as this was the image I wanted to capture. Shepherds Bush Underground station is quite unusual in that sometimes you look at it it looks symmetrical and other times it doesn't. I'm glad I got the photo that I wanted and went into London in the end.

Information

Shepherd's Bush is a London Underground station in the district of Shepherd's Bush, which is located in west London, England, United Kingdom. The station is on the Central Line, between White City and Holland Park stations, and it lies in Travelcard Zone 2.

The station originally opened in 1900, but was closed for eight months in 2008 while the surface station building was replaced with a completely new structure and the underground station refurbished.

A number of stations in the area both past and present have borne the name Shepherd's Bush; today the Central Line station shares its name with the adjacent London Overground Shepherd's Bush station, with which it shares a surface-level interchange.

An entirely separate London Underground station, Shepherd's Bush Market on the Circle Line and Hammersmith & City Lines is located approximately 1⁄3-mile (500 m) away. Until 2008, it too was called Shepherd's Bush until it was renamed to avoid confusion.

From the archives - here we see Freightliner locomotive 90047 on hire to Virgin Trains about to depart with the 18:30 service from Euston to Rugby (1T25) with WB64 on the evening of the 18/7/13.

Unfortunately, the driver arrived late to prep loco, which meant no headlights in the shot due to travelling on the train and couldn't wait any longer otherwise the train would have been missed. Oh well.

Here we see CD locomotive 380005 working the diverted 07:12 service from Praha h.nl to Budapest-Nyugati (EC275) on the morning of the 24/2/22.

The train was captured passing through Hradcany on the diverted route - the routing of this train via Hradcany was a planned diversion.

This spot was accessed following a long cycle ride from Oxenholme station (mostly uphill too).

Station photography shots are rare nowadays, but whilst waiting for an onward connection with a class 242 engine, this arrived at the station, and it seemed rude not to capture it. The Flexity Outlook is the latest model in the rolling stock of the Toronto streetcar system owned by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Based on the Flexity Outlook vehicles used in several European cities, the new streetcars were first ordered in 2009 and are built by Bombardier Transportation in Thunder Bay and Kingston, Ontario, Canada, with specific modifications for Toronto, such as unidirectional operation and the ability to operate on the unique broad Toronto gauge (4 ft 10 7⁄8 in / 1,495 mm).

Tried this spot in the winter and thought it was worth visiting again. Unfortunately it was slightly overgrown and there are no means of getting height other than stepladders.

Anyway, here we see OBB Taurus loco 1016 009 working a domestic freight heading towards Bischofshofen and beyond on the afternoon of the 12/7/18.
