I tried to get a photo of the butterfly with the wings open, but I failed miserably and had 66 deletes! The wings would only open briefly, and I missed it every time! If I see the butterfly again, I will keep trying as they are really quite colorful!

According to Wikipedia:

"The color and textured appearance of the underside of its wings combine to provide camouflage that resembles a dead leaf. The silver mark on the underside of the hindwing is broken into two parts, a curved line and a dot, creating a ?-shaped mark that gives the species its common name.

As an adult butterfly, the question mark seeks out rotting fruit, tree sap, dung, or carrion as food sources. Only when these are unavailable do question marks visit flowers for nectar."

Hmmm... so does this mean I should leave the dog poop in the garden? No! Definitely not! I would rather photograph the butterfly on a flower rather than dog poop!

I have briefed Secretary Clinton on the recent development of the relations across the Taiwan Strait, and stated China's principled position on the Taiwan question. Operating the inaugural Qatar Airways Doha to Dublin service, Airbus A350 A7--ALE heads towards the terminal.

The daily service operates using their dreamliner 787's, but for the first day, this A350 was used, this type of aircraft still very rare in Dublin.

Qatar had been rumored to be coming to Dublin for years, following in the footsteps of Emirates & Etihad, so today, questions were answered.

... if these heels were real, which ones would you choose?

The questions were called to an end, but Matt called a young boy, Oliver, up on to the stage - he'd been sat on the floor at the front waiting patiently to ask a question. Up on stage, he asked, "Why do you like fezzes so much?"

Matt replied that they were cool and asked Oliver what his favourite hat was. He didn't have one. He didn't think hats were cool.

When it comes to dental implants, many of our patients have questions. We want you to feel comfortable with the process and here we answer some of the most common questions we receive.

Q: So what exactly what are dental implants?

A: A dental implant is an artificial root system that replaces the damaged and removed roots and thus allows for a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth to then be replaced.

Q: Are they going to be gaudy and obvious?

A: While some people like having the image of the "gold teeth" or "silver teeth," the truth is most people prefer natural looking implants and that's what we strive to provide. When done properly, it'll be nearly impossible for a casual viewer to tell your implants from your real teeth.

Q: How commonly do I need to get these replace?

A: The permanent dental implants should be just that: permanent. You still need to take care of them as you would regular teeth. Flossing and keeping your gums healthy is important, but as long as you do this these implants should last you the rest of your life.

Q: Are they expensive?

A: This depends on your definition of expensive. They are pricier than a root canal or your normal dental work, but for your long term health they are a far better investment than doing nothing. Prices will also very greatly based on the number of teeth being replaced. Contact us for more information as each individual situation will be a little different.

Q: Will insurance cover a dental implant?

A: Sometimes. Coverage on implants varies greatly with some covering none of the expense, some covering most of it, and many other policies falling somewhere in the middle.

We understand you have many questions when it comes to dental implants. If you don't see your question answered here please feel cost-free to contact us and we'll be happy to discuss your situation more.

Question for all local photographers? I have seen some beautiful images taken from this viewpoint - do not remember noticing huge amounts of duck poo before yet that is nearly all I see when I look at this image - taken after being allowed out of the car for a five minute break in a working day today - managed about 10 - 15 shots but mostly featuring said duck poo - have all others photoshopped out the poo or did you arrive with mop/broom?

Answers much appreciated.

I finally have to cave in. I took this shot in Bandon, Oregon in July - the most beautiful song was coming from this guy. I have been reluctant to put this shot on as it was beyond the capabilities of my lens and about as bad as it gets but I just have to know what bird this is?

PS: Not that this shot is going to get a lot of attention but, from now on, any group with huge icons will be ignored. This group thing is getting out of hand and starting to take up too much time, as well. I appreciate the appreciation, so to speak - but have decided to stay with the old trusted groups. I, on the other hand, will respond with faves and, occasionally, with one of the "old" awards.

Adi Gil, Gabi Asfour and Angela Donhauser, the members of multicultural U.S. based fashion designers collective known as Three ASFOUR visited three NGOs in the Bedouin village of Laqyia, located in the Negev desert in southern Israel: “Sidreh Laqyia Weaving”, “Desert Embroidery” and “Accessoir”. These NGOs empower local women though traditional crafts. The U.S. designers were amazed by the creativity and professionalism of the women, their strong commitment to the goal of promoting women’s rights in Bedouin society, and by their traditional warm hospitality. The designers also gave a presentation about their work, answered questions and explored ways of possible cooperation with Laqyia women. ThreeASFOUR’s latest collection “InSalaam InShallom”, which is based on the harmonious combination of Jewish and Arab visual sources, is currently on display in the Beit Ha’Ir Museum in Tel Aviv. The project is supported and facilitated by the U.S. Embassy Tel Aviv.

This time, the BIENNALIST is looking into the notion of uncertainty which is the main theme for Bienal de São Paulo this year titled INCERTEZA VIVA (Live Uncertainty).

The program of Bienal de São Paulo is focusing "on notions of “uncertainty” to reflect on the current conditions of life and the strategies offered by contemporary art to harbor or inhabit uncertainties"

BIENNALIST is an art format that responds and questions the themes of biennials with artworks. Thierry Geoffroy/COLONEL have since 1988 been on location testing the pertinence of the biennales. Instead of questioning the canvas, the pigment or the museum, the artist questions the staged art events and their motivations. The theme of each biennial is taken seriously and studied in order to contribute to the debate the biennales want to generate.

-----------------the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo concept and artists ---

Titled Incerteza viva (Live uncertainty), the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo means to reflect on the current conditions of life and the strategies offered by contemporary art to harbor or inhabit uncertainty. The exhibition, curated by Jochen Volz and the co-curators Gabi Ngcobo (South Africa), Júlia Rebouças (Brazil), Lars Bang Larsen (Denmark) and Sofía Olascoaga (Mexico), will be held from September 10 to December 11, 2016 at the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion, featuring approximately 90 artists and collectives, 54 of which are announced below:

Alia Farid; Anawana Haloba; Bárbara Wagner; Bené Fonteles; Carla Filipe; Carolina Caycedo; Cecilia Bengolea; Charlotte Johannesson; Cristiano Lenhardt; Dineo Seshee Bopape; Ebony G. Patterson; Eduardo Navarro; Em’kal Eyongakpa; Erika Verzutti; Felipe Mujica; Francis Alÿs; Gabriel Abrantes; Gilvan Samico; Güneş Terkol; Heather Phillipson; Helen Sebidi; Henrik Olesen; Hito Steyerl; Iza Tarasewicz; Jorge Menna Barreto; José Antonio Suárez Londoño; José Bento; Kathy Barry; Koo Jeong A; Lais Myrrha; Lourdes Castro; Luke Willis Thompson; Mariana Castillo Deball; Michal Helfman; Misheck Masamvu; Nomeda & Gediminas Urbonas; OPAVIVARÁ!; Öyvind Fahlström; Park McArthur; Pia Lindman; Pierre Huyghe; Pilar Quinteros; Priscila Fernandes; Rachel Rose; Rikke Luther; Rita Ponce de León; Ruth Ewan; Sandra Kranich; Ursula Biemann; Víctor Grippo; Vídeo nas Aldeias; Vivian Caccuri; Wilma Martins; William Pope.L

The exhibition sets out to trace cosmological thinking, ambient and collective intelligence, and systemic and natural ecologies. “Art feeds off uncertainty, chance, improvisation, speculation and, at the same time, it attempts to count the uncountable and measure the immeasurable. It makes room for error, for doubt and risk—even for ghosts and the most profound misgivings, without evading or manipulating them,” says curator Jochen Volz. “In order for us to objectively confront the big questions of our time, such as global warming and its impact on our habitat, the extinction of species and the loss of biological and cultural diversity, economic and political instability, injustice in the distribution of the earth’s natural resources and global migration, perhaps it’s necessary to detach uncertainty from fear.”

As part of the research for the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo and inaugurating its public activities, four Study Days will be held between March and May of 2016, combining visits to cultural institutions and initiatives, local communities, ecological reserves, artists’ studios, and research centers with four conferences, open to the public and conducted by invited lecturers and professionals at the different locales where they are to take place:

Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazi, one of the richest and most fragile biomes in the world, a land of depleted soil, of monoculture, of species vanished and knowledge forgotten, selected for a conference discussing extinction and preservation, abundance and drought; Santiago, Chile, for a conference focusing on cosmologies and the enmeshed relationships between art and science, myth and history from a present-day perspective; Accra, Ghana, a point of return for many slaves from Brazil, a locale of bonds and renewals, projections and collective dreams; and the Peruvian Amazon, where the objective is to work with education, connections between the human race and nature, and to address questions about what is natural and original.

To mark the cycle, a seminar will be held at the Bienal building in São Paulo in June, interlacing the themes and proposals developed during these collaborative investigations. Registers of the Study Days and the seminar in São Paulo will be published on the Bienal website and in a specific publication.

Seeking to actively participate in the continuous and collective construction of the Ibirapuera Park as a public space, the exhibition sees itself as an extension of the garden inside the pavilion. Conversely, numerous artistic projects will be commissioned for the park. The firm Álvaro Razuk Arquitetura has been invited to develop the exhibit’s architectural project and exhibition displays.

Bruyant ou silencieux ? / Laut oder leise ?

Cette question et la façon de la présenter sont l'œuvre d'Anja : voir sa galerie : zeilensprung68.

www.flickr.com/photos/80031727@N07/19375272181/in/contacts/

Relations between police and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities were debated at a special event as part of the Manchester Pride Fringe.

The free event, held at Manchester Town Hall, was organised by Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd, brought together police, activists, council representatives and members of the public to examine how relations have changed – and whether the transformation is real or just window-dressing.

The event was called “Police with Pride?” and members of the public who attended were given the opportunity to share their experiences and insights and question the panel.

The event was also be recorded by Gaydio, the country’s leading LGBT radio station, for broadcast at a future date.

The debate covered a wide range of topics including the relationship between GMP and the LGBT community over the last 30 years and the growth of LGBT representation within the Force.

Joining Tony on the panel were:

•Paul Martin OBE, chief executive, The Lesbian and Gay Foundation

•Councillor Sue Murphy, deputy leader, Manchester City Council

•Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan, Greater Manchester Police

•Inspector Emma Taylor, Greater Manchester Police

Another very familiar church, just over Fye Bridge and so past the Ribs of Beef and Mischief pubs, the church stands on the corner of the junction of Colgate and Magdalene Street.

The church sticks its tower over the trees which have taken over the churchyard, but as ever, I had no idea what to expect once I walked into the porch.

The church has been transformed into the home of the Stonemasons of the Guild of St Stephen and St George, and the church now comprising ramshackle offices, a library and workshop.

It is also full of colour, with banners hanging down over the nave, and in the chancel and papier mache dragon's head dominates.

The guild were very welcoming, and we on hand to answer questions, and I think upon reflection, a real highlight of the day.

------------------------------------------------

The Church of St Clement the Martyr is a powerful element of the townscape of ‘Norwich Over the Water’. Its chancel stands hard by Fye Bridge Street and its elegant tower dominates the eastern end of Colegate.

Since becoming redundant in the 1960’s the church has been used for counselling and pastoral work, and is open every day for anyone wanting to pray, to have peace and quiet or to appreciate the interior. This use has enabled St Clements’s to retain all of its furnishings.

St Clements’s was built close to Fye Bridge, the river crossing of the major historic north-south axis of the City (King St / Magdalen St). The church is thought to be Saxon in origin and to have been one of the first in the City erected on the north side of the river. It probably dated from around 1040, although no evidence from this period is visible.

The present Nave replaces an earlier, narrower one, the corner stones of which are visible embedded in the west wall on either side of the tower. The church has no porch, though it is possible that the rougher flint-work round the south door may be the remains of one now incorporated into the widened Nave.

The Chancel, Nave and Tower are all in the Perpendicular style and probably date from the early C15th. However, the Decorated style of the east window of the Chancel suggest an earlier date for that part of the building. The Nave is wide but without aisles, relatively short and has a low pitched roof, making it look rather ‘heavy’: the former narrower Nave with a steeper roof would have been better proportioned. The tower, on the other hand, with corner buttresses at the four stages and a battlemented parapet decorated with flushwork, is most elegant. The tower clock has a fine classical frame, but is somewhat mismatched with the Medieval belfry window which it covers - but only partly.

The wall arches on both sides of the Chancel, enclose deeply recessed windows, or sections of blank wall. Do these represent an attempt to refine earlier thick and irregular walls? Also of this date is the Chancel roof, with its arched bracing and its wall posts supported on corbels carved with angels bearing shields – two with trumpets. The posts rest, rather uncomfortably, on the springings and apexes of the wall arches. The font is in the Perpendicular style and carved with flowers and leaves.

In the floor of the Nave can still be seen a brass memorial to Margaret Petwoode dated 1514.

The Wood Family: a large floor slab just inside the main door, from which the brass has been removed, is very possibly the remains of the memorial referred to by Francis Bloomfield the 18th century historian as being that of the wife of Edmund Wood. Edmund Wood became Mayor in the mid 16th century and is recorded as having been buried ‘before the aulter of Our Lady’. He almost certainly built and lived in the magnificent house on the corner of Fye Bridge Street and Fishergate, ‘rediscovered’ in 1990 and now the King of Hearts. His son Robert, who also became Mayor, was buried in the chancel. He welcomed Queen Elizabeth on her visit to the City, but we are told that the festivities went on so long that he had to ‘forbear the utterance of…his Oration because it was about seven of the clock and Her Majesty had then five miles to ride.’ He had to content himself with presenting it to her in writing, whereupon she ’made him a Knight [and departed] with the Water standing in her eyes.’

In the South Churchyard is a box-tomb inscribed to the memory of the parents of Mathew Parker, Archbishop of Canterbury under Queen Elizabeth, though it is clearly of a much later date. In 1549 he preached here against the ‘hurliburlies’ of Kett’s Rebellion. He left money for an annual sermon in the church, which continues to this day.

The 19th century saw wealthy families moving out of the parish and poor people and industry taking over. The established church came to see its task as one of mission to the poor, partly – it must be said – in competition with the Nonconformists. In 1889 a musicians’ gallery, double decker pulpit and box pews were removed and the present furnishings were installed. They include pews with attractively varied carved panels on the ends.

Stained glass is limited to the borders of the windows at either end on the church. The green tinted glass of the west window combines with the vibrant orange boarder to give a surprisingly pleasant light. All other windows are clear glass making the Nave an airy light space.

www.norwich-churches.org/St Clements/home.shtm

---------------------------------------------

St Clement stands at the point where medieval and modern Norwich meet; to the south are Pye Bridge, Tombland and the cathedral precincts, while to the north is busy Magdalene street. Westwards stretches Colegate, leading into Coslany, the medieval Norwich- over-the-Water, the industrial heart of the city in the 18th and 19th centuries. Recent planning policies have brought residents back into Coslany, but that was too late for St Clement, which, along with half a dozen other Colegate and Coslany churches, was declared redundant as a result of the Brooke report in the late 1960s.

The clock has been recently restored as a War Memorial, and looks very fine; its placing over the bell window is a bit awkward, but at least it provides a landmark, and there isn't another quite like it.

St Clement was probably the first of the city churches on the north side of the river, and has lived through the changes that a thousand years have brought. The present church is almost entirely the work of the 15th century, although the chancel is slightly earlier.

The font is an early 16th century one, with that proto-renaissance styling that makes us wonder how artistic endeavour might have flowered if the Reformation had not intervened. There is also a 1516 figure brass to Margaret Petwood in the middle of the nave, and these two features may indicate the date at which the church was finished.Apart from that, the interior is largely Victorian in character. There are 18th and 19th century memorials around the walls to the Ives and Harvey families, who supplied a number of mayors of Norwich.

At the west end are modern devotional statues, a holy water stoup and a place to light a candle, which might lead you to think that St Clement is still a working parish church. In fact, St Clement's future was secured after redundancy in curious circumstances. The lease was taken on by a local Methodist minister on behalf of the Norwich transport workers trade union, partly with the intention of its use as a chapel.

Because of this, all the internal furnishings have been retained. These, dating from the 19th century, are from a time when St Clement's congregation was almost wholly drawn from the local tenements and slums that housed industrial workers, so this is entirely appropriate.

As it turns out, one man's obsession has been a lifeline, and despite an arson attack about ten years ago, this remains the only one of Norwich's redundant churches that is freely open to the public for private prayer every day.

Todays lesson...

Hello and welcome to class. Todays lesson is How to Make a Popular and Successful MOC. It has been a question that I have frequently heard and have been asked. BUT how exactly do you make a popular and successful MOC? Get blogged on the hit lego web-sites? Or get on MOCpages' home page? I've been here for almost a year how and I'm quite experienced with these things (I think?). For those who have ever asked that question, here is your answer...

A. Introduction

This is just to introduce you viewers to the structure of this lesson. I've separated the information by categories in numbers. Each category has info about a different topic. Once again, this is from my opinion and experiences, answers to this question will vary. I would also like to say that there is to be no talking, gum chewing, or doodling in this class. (Yes that means you too Kelso.) Anyway here we go...

1. Cheats or just an easy step?

The easiest way to make a popular MOC is to show us something that we've never seen before. This can be extremely hard to do, but the results are phenomenal.

Using a technique no one has ever seen before will make people click on you page out of curiosity.

2. Do not use other peoples techniques.

Although it might seen tempting, do not do it! If you think that just because one MOC was so popular because it used a technique no one has ever seen before, yours will be just as popular too, your wrong! After a couple uses of a similar technique, the technique will seem worn out and no one will care anymore. I will advise you to use others peoples techniques and combine those techniques with other elements in building to create a unique result. This sometimes adds to a MOC, and other times not.

3. Timing.

Often we see MOCs related to a certain holiday or event get a lot of attention. These types of MOCs are really cool and get a lot of attention by lego bloggers.

This type of MOC also works for Holidays, Birthdays, or real world events.

4. Presentation

This subject is a big one, so pay attention. It doesn't matter how big or good your MOC is, if the pictures aren't good, blurry or out of focus, your MOC is likely not to get as much attention. Keith Goldman gave some advice in his newest group about this. He stated that you should set your cameras to macro mode (flower icon) and anti-blur mode. Then you can use advanced lights or simply wait for a overcast day outside to take your pics. It is always nice if you clean up the background of your MOC by photoshop. For those who do not have an image editing software, I'd suggest using a white blanket or poster board to cover up the background. Also Nannan gave me some advice on how to use the sharpen tool on Photoshop, which is usually found under the effects tab. This allow the details of your work to come out clearer. Photoshop also helps when your making a story, add some facial expressions or weather techniques.

5. Getting yourself known.

You are not going to be MOCpages's latest and greatest MOCier overnight. It takes months and even years to get to this point. Getting your self known with certain people and group will help you get more attention. Putting your MOC in a contest usually results in all the contest members having a look. Joining other sites rather than MOCpages also helps too in a way. Meeting new friends and people who like your things also help. Some people only have a few people who added them as a favorite builder, while others are well over a hundred. It can take very long to get to that standpoint. Don't worry just keep trying and people will find your stuff and you'll make friends quick.

6. Don't give up and keep building.

Some people seem that they just have an itch for building. I guarantee that you will make mistakes in your builds along the way, but learning from those and not quitting is the key to being a successful builder. Some builders take months and years into making their MOCs and have made and corrected many of their mistakes on their MOCs. Sometimes mistakes can lead to the discovering of a new technique. DO NOT GIVE UP!

7. Use what you have and make the best of it.

Most of us normal builders do not have a million bricks. This is used as an excuse a lot of times either in contests or for some mistake. If you make the best of what you have and not always want new stuff then your more likely to make something awesome!

8. Combine and get creative.

The biggest thing here on MOCpages is creativity. The more creative you are, the better your creations will be. Combine some techniques, use colors, and do some wacky and weird building. This can lead to an awesome new technique and a lot of fun! Get creative with your pieces and make something that stands out from the crowd.

9. Don't write blah blah blah.

If you plan to write a description of your MOC, make it sound exciting and bold. Have some confidence toward your build. Try and be humorous with that you have. Stories always work well, but should be well written most of all...PLEASE, please try and use correct grammar and spelling. This might be hard for some but they're sights to help you out with this. No one wants to read something that go's like... Thiz is mi besst creatioon, it'z callled.... and so on.

10. Don't be the Big Mad Meanie

Try and be serious here people. The main point of this section is to tell you to take constructive criticism seriously. Don't be mean and everyone will have their own opinions about your MOC. The truth is that there is something good and bad about every MOC. Use criticism to help you fix your mistakes. Do not try and argue, everyone has a right to their own opinion.

11. Summary

Lets review what we learned about making a successful MOC.

*Creating something new and exciting is the easiest way to get your head on the mantle, urrr, I mean the hall of fame.

*Be creative with your builds.

*Enter contests and meet new people. Your not going to be a great MOCier overnight!

*Present your creation in the best way you can.

*Try not to use old and worn out techniques.

*Make the best of what you have.

*Make a MOC related to worldly events or holidays.

I'm looking for someone willing to do my ads for me, or at least the photos for me. They wouldn't be over edited (just fixing of the face and hairs) I just want them to be nice, with shadows and such. Of course nothing over the top that would falsely advertise the item or anything. And being able to obviously tell what item is for sale is a must.

I won't be paying in Ls for the photos but rather you get everything made in my store and all future releases for FREE. I will pay for the upload of the ads so you don't lose any money.

Interested in doing this for me?

Send me a FLICKR MAIL.

Please include a example or link me to an example of how you would show off an item or edit an ad. If you are willing, try and edit one wearing one of my items! If not, you can always do it with an item from another store. Just make sure this is included somewhere in the ad;

-Name of item

-Permissions

-if appliers are included, add that as well.

Again, I'm only taking applications through FLICKR MAIL. Name the message "Ataxia Ad Editor Application"

And btw Im aiming to release an item a week, plus any events I participate in. And my goal release date is Friday AROUND 4-6pm SLT

I learned a lot this afternoon from simply asking library staff if I could take some photos in the library. First of all, that no one whom I initially asked knew the answer to my question suggests that not many people take photos in the library, for whatever reason, for which reason the staff did not know whether or not I could take photos. Second, that the more I asked around, the more my question crept quietly up the chain of command, until at length the director of the library was asked, when she walked onto the premises after lunch, suggests that there is a centralized command in the library; in that regard, this institution is not organized in a similar manner to the way by which HKU is organized. Finally, that nobody knew the answer but rather than assume authority deferred to the director's discretion suggests that there are very few change agents, if any at all, in this institution. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, however, because this organization likely doesn't have to deal with major change at the moment: the best course of action is plodding straight ahead.

Likewise, no one whom I asked knew about the library's renovation cost and the cost of being a donor; but these staff members did point me to someone else who could possibly answer my question!

The lights were off in the men's washroom. It seems as if the washroom isn't used much. Inside the washroom, I noticed the automated sinks, urinals and paper towel dispenser -- that reminded me much of Hong Kong and South Korea; automation has arrived in America! In addition, I enjoyed the hot water flowing from the sinks. That was a pleasant surprise.

What impresses me the most about this library is the seating variety. There are not only many different types of seating furniture, but also many different environments in which these seats are placed: by windows; inside rooms; in seating areas; in corners. In addition, just as there were many different types of furniture looks, so there were, in fact, more broadly, many different, conspicuous areas in the library. They were clearly labeled to boot. In this way, this library shares its best feature with the City University of Hong Kong library: such a variety of learning spaces that surely one would find at least one type conducive toward studying. In this instance, I liked to study at the rectangular table in the cafe area. Many libraries, including the HKU library, could certainly improve its learning space by following the diversity model adopted by both the CityU library and the Livingston library.

What also makes this library conducive toward studying is its underuse. One could find a seat anywhere in the library: no squatting, thankfully. The shelves also seem underutilized. While on an individual basis, this surplus in seating is a boon, this surplus is lamentable for the community since it obviously isn't taking full advantage of this invaluable learning space!

I gushed about the effectiveness of the library's learning space to the staff. Perhaps they were amused that such a mundane environment to them could be so special to me.
