In the Whitby Museum,
Whitby Museum is owned and operated by Whitby Literary and Philosophical Society, a charitable body established in January 1823, a period when such societies operated in many British towns.
It was founded by a group of leading Whitby citizens led by the Rev. George Young, a local Presbyterian Church minister, and author of A History of Whitby (1817).
The chief object of the Society was to setup and maintain a museum, specialising in fossils, since “Whitby is a chief town of a district abounding with petrifications and containing not a few Antiquities.”
The museum opened in September 1823 and the collections soon filled the original two rooms over shops on Baxtergate. In 1827 it moved to the top floor of the riverside building now known as Fusco’s Quayside Fish Restaurant. On the ground floor were the public baths, and a subscription library occupied the middle floor with the largest windows.
This strategic site on the fashionable promenade was a prime attraction in the Victorian resort. Lewis Carroll, George Eliot, Elizabeth Gaskell and Wilkie Collins were among the visitors. Bram Stoker’s signature appears in the Visitors’ Book for 1890, when he is known to have consulted books in the subscription library, including An Account of the Principalities of Wallachia and Moldovia by William Wilkinson (1820); along with Transylvania this is modern Romania.
The museum’s collections grew to include local plants, shells and butterflies, beetles and fishes, as well as many exhibits illustrating the history of Whitby, including some sizeable models of buildings and ships.
As the 19th century became the 20th the main anxiety of the Society was providing more space. After various proposals, in 1924 the decision was made to build a new museum in Pannett Park. Built at a cost to the Society of £6577, it was opened in August 1931. Since then the collections have grown apace, and has been extended several times.
In 1950 a new library, the Kendall Room, was added to house the Society’s collection of books, manuscripts and ephemera relating to Whitby and district. The Chapman Wing houses the museum’s large collection of ship models, and objects relating to Captain James Cook, and the local whaling industry of the 18th and 19th century.

Privately-owned Pannier tank 4696 at Tyseley MPD (ex 84E), Birmingham, 18th February 1967. Next to it is a snow plough, and a diesel shunter. Tyseley had officially closed to steam four months earlier, but the local railway authorities were sympathetic to preservation, and even allowed some of the engines to be kept in trim by using them on night-time freight trains.

Made my own studio at our garage. And by that I mean taping a sintra board (my thesis poster) on our wall. Used another sintra board (Kay's thesis poster. Hehe.) as reflector, which I had guia hold during the entire shoot (Sorry Guia). I used natural lighting- it was gloomy though, but I think it worked out for my concept!
I'd love to do more beauty shots soon!:)
I own this Minolta lens MD 1:4 f=17mm since January 2020 but I did not used it too much beside some digital series (as this one : flic.kr/s/aHsmL8WMnJ ) when adapted to one of my Sony A7. The extreme wide-angle rectilinear lens needs some training to adapt during the photographic session. The angle is so wide (104° in the image diagonal) that it requires to turn the head around the scene to imagine the picture possible before framing.
On December 19, 2022, I decided to mount the lens on one of my two Minolta X-700, the "China" version (assembled in China 1993-1999). The camera was also equipped with its motor drive MD1 and the Minolta multi-function back. I loaded the X-700 with a B&W super-panchromatic Rollei Retro 400S (Agfa Aviphot 400) 36-exposure film.
The Agfa Aviphot film used for aerial photography is specially sensitized in the red, up to 780nm in the near IR instead of the regular 650-680 nm limit of a normal panchromatic film. The film provides usually high-definition and high-contrast negative views. What is more the Agfa Aviphot is coated on a thin and flat polyester base without any base color increasing the contrast as well. However to prevent the halation possible the Agfa Aviphot is coated on the backside with a black and blue anti-halation pigment to inhibit the light back diffusion (halation). The printing of data from a data back could be then a problem. I tested here the date print on the first initialization frame setting the intensity to the maximum available on the Minolta multi-function back (there are 6 levels of intensity available). The anti-halation is quite penetrated by the red light of the electro-luminescent diodes and a half intensity may be just enough.
On the almost same photo walk done on December 14, 2022 with my range-finder FOCA PF2B and its normal lens, the film was exposed for 400 ISO in the manual mode following either the Minolta X-700 indications or determining the exposure using my Minolta Autometer III and a 10° finder for selective measurements.

After exposures the film was processed using Adox Adonal (strictly equivalent to Agfa Rodinal) developer at dilution 1+25, 20°C for 10min 30s. The film was then digitalized using a Sony A7 body fitted to a Minolta Slide Duplicator installed on a Minolta Auto Bellows III with a lens Minolta Bellow Macro Rokkor 50mm f/3.5. The RAW files obtained were then processed in LR and finally edited to the final jpeg pictures.
All views of the film are presented in the dedicated album either in the printed framed versions and unframed full-size jpeg.

“Certainly World War II airplanes have a big interest to me,” Deckert said. “The reason I got involved with this one was the opportunity and price. It was a war bird I could afford to get into.” Ever since Deckert’s Avenger appeared in 2008 at Illinois Valley Regional Airport, Peru, airplane enthusiasts and veterans have flocked to see it. “It’s great to see it running,” said Tom Hartman of Peru, who is helping Deckert restore the plane.
“That’s what brings people out, those big old round radial engines.” Deckert keeps the plane in a Peru hangar while he repairs and restores it.

My daughter saves the universe with her beloved light saber (she still calls it a "life saver") in the yard. Apparently wearing every jacket you own is also helpful.
I know it's not a good picture technically. It just made me laugh.
On Friday, Oct. 22, Intersections hosted, “In Our Own Voice: Women Veterans Tell Their Stories.” The theatrical performance featured six women who through monologues shared the experiences of female veterans and active duty servicewomen. The project was created by the Psychotherapy and Spirituality Institute (PSI) of New York, and is based on a series of interviews with female veterans.

This 1972 Pontiac Lemans has been owned by the same family scene '78 and was a daily driver up until the late 1980's. The owner brought it to us to be restored as a birthday present for his daughter.
This was a complete frame off restoration, we replaced the floors, trunk floors inner and outer quarters, along with a lot of rust repair to the doors, fenders, hood & trunk lid. The body & chassis was completely dissembled and media blasted down to bare metal. Then covered in epoxy primer for rust prevention and then body work, rust repair and panel fitment. The car was refinished in Transtar No Mix paint, the color matches the original metallic green.
The interior was dissembled & the seats were recovered in a Legendary upholstery kit, new carpet, door panels & all interior panels were installed. The dash & center consul were refinished
The motor was sent out to Morley Performance to be rebuilt . The factory brakes were upgraded from drum to disc brakes.
We had to replace the convertible top structure with one form another similar car. It was media blasted and refinished then sent out to Sebastian Interiors to be recovered.

Max studies Pure Mathematics and Computer Science, with particular interest in information security, civil liberties, and counterterrorism. He was a Dickey Center Nepal Quake Summit Student Panelist on the role of social media and technology in disaster relief, and is an active member of the Institute for Security, Technology, and Society (ISTS). Max is also a United World College Costa Rica '15 and a Davis Scholar. On the side, Max enjoys analog photography and the literature of Cormac McCarthy.
