The owner of fishing boat UL594 seemed to have this part of the loch to himself as we visited on June 4th 2019. This boat carries the unusual name Madadh Cuain.
Interesting style of bike rack and always ominous-sounding sign in front of this 1960s-era branch library on far west Belmont. I've had no problems here with my bike, just with crossing the high-traffic street.

Not much to say...I had no sleep...driving hundreds of miles to thanksgiving...and way too much coffee. But I like how it came out. :)
William Bloor owned over 12 acres of land at what was to become Hawthorn in 1875. When the railway from Adelaide was about to reach Mitcham he sold some land presumably at a good profit in 1882 to Simone Bosisto. The land was sold on to his son who built a grand six roomed Italianate villa house at that time. he called it Saint Georges after his mothers family. The nearby street is still George Street. A coach house stables and hay loft was built at the rear of the house. Bosisto stayed there until he died in 1908. The house had several owners after that time until it was purchased by the City of Mitcham after 1945. It was proposed as a new Civic Centre but this did not eventuate. In 1956 it opened as a Community Centre which it still is. It is used by a kindergarten and several other community groups.
Spiky spiky spiky, my own design
Designed this today and decided to try a few blocks... It's not quite as dramatic as I was hoping, but it's pretty cool. We'll see how I feel in the morning.
The blocks are 8" square since that's what my printer can do. This was the most interesting rotation of them. The secondary pattern didn't come through as well as I had hoped that it would.
I may make more blocks and see if I get anything more interesting by mirroring two (instead of having all four the same), or if reversing the black/color arrangement on two blocks makes it more interesting.
In any case, it's a cool pillowtop for a 16" pillow.
(This may or may not end up being my plan for the quilting bee... I'm also leaning hard towards free-pieced blocks using batik scraps.)
Hawker Hurricane XII G-HURR BD707 AE-C (cn 52024) . Owned by Tom Blair. Tragically less than a week later this aircraft was destroyed and the pilot, Brian Brown killed at Shoreham on 15th September 2007.
Brian Brown 1957 -2007. Born and bred in Doncaster, Brian (49) was a pilot of many years experience on a number of different types of aircraft and Manager of Breighton airfield, near Selby in North Yorkshire. Alongside colleague and friend Tony Smith, he regularly flew the RACo aircraft at airshows, including some 350 hours on Hawker Hurricane XII G-HURR alone, which he displayed several times at Shoreham in the past. As well as flying displays both in the UK and Europe, Brian flew as a stunt pilot in the films 'Fly Boys' and 'Tomorrow never Dies'. Fellow pilot David 'Rats' Ratcliffe, who took part in the dogfight prior to the crash said: "Brian was a good pilot, a great friend and he will be dearly missed. Like any job you have to be pragmatic about these things - it does happen from time to time but then statistically the biggest danger to me is driving to the airfield. A crash can happen anywhere. It will not put us off flying, that is what we do. I fly on my days off. I fly in the wind and rain - it doesn't matter." Our thoughts and condolences go to Brian's partner Eileen, family, friends and the team at the Real Aeroplane Company, Breighton.

My own design for a premature baby wrap over with tie fronts. Worked in 3 pieces and joined at shoulders, underarms and sides. It is crocheted in UK 4ply on 3.50mm hook using a 5 treble fan or shell stitch alternating with a double crochet (UK terms - alternating on each row)
I own Nikon 1 J1 and J5 mirrorless cameras. These cameras get limited use - such as when I capture images ‘on-the-fly’ at family gatherings or traveling. Never used them for photography services provided to clients, principally because of the tiny 2.7x crop sensor - and VERY limited lens availability. I recently shot my first video using the 1.5x (APS-c) crop sensor on my Nikon D3200 and D5100 - was quite pleased with the results.
That being said, I have only purchased Nikon equipment like - forever. However, after due diligence research, I did a decades long equipment purchase outlier the other day - acquiring a Sony Alpha a7 full frame mirrorless camera (The Sony a7 mirrorless camera is rated as one of the best pro mirrorless cameras out there).
Perhaps - someday - Nikon will produce a full frame mirrorless camera, and when it does I will be one of the first to order. But since I am expanding photography services for clients to provide video as an option, I expect this Sony a7 will meet my need for both high quality still and video capability. Will share more than these first captures of images (and video) from the Sony Alpha a7 full frame mirrorless when I produce them.
These photos were taken by me David Cameron on my own time at my own expense to which I alone pay to host these images here on flickr and to which I wasn’t paid like all the volunteers who help around the scheme, where each and everyone with their own life experiences, miseries, health problems, likes and dislikes. I could write a book on Nicola sturgeon and the hatred I have for this woman who attacks mine and “your free speech”, like her SNP zealots that when they hear another life point of view, run off and grass you you up to facebook in the hope they can get you band for your right to a different point of view, just to make sure their brown shirt fascist leader Isn’t criticised for her failing.
Now I listened to the people about their disgust at this SNP run Renfrewshire council’s theft of piles of wood, yet neglecting the endless trash and all their other garbage they have neglected resulting in the locals cleaning it all up by themselves. Then the council came mob handed along with the cops and stole what was supposed to be a Childs bonfire night. To which many slagged “stole a childs bonfire” statement I made like that wasn’t what happened, but who else was this nights event for if not for the kids. So it’s we who should scorn your comments and more so did you see the fireworks or witness the theft of the wood and all the coppers that your armchair opinion should matter….
So the snp zealots went to town over my first post and never gave me time to post the scoop shot of the night as It was late and It was bed time. Well I took a photo last night of the cops in a packed van were at least two of them were un and partially unmasked and not social distancing… The whole point was Nicola Sturgeon has imposed lockdown, band our freedom of movement, forced many into masks and she is using her police force to impose these acts of law on we the people whose common law rights are all being violatd. And here was a bunch of cops who the day before helped remove wood that doesn’t belong to them and could have had other uses planned for and they never gave the people the chance to move it. So that alone breach common law and fall under theft. And here where her jackboot thugs turning up in vans without masks flouting the very laws you are expected to follow… But no snp zealot outcry over that MAJOR GAFF as that would show descent in the snp ranks and god forbid we should criticise her.
I hereby state Nocola Sturgeon and her justice minister are racists who discriminate against my religion, my health problems and their brand new hate law is an attack on my 30 years Scottish religion and a crime of hate…. This folks is why I truly hate this woman I once voted for and even shot out in Johnston. But I did that as professional and said nothing of politics yet she enters into my Scottish region world and pissed all over it “the spirit of Scotland remembrance project” and that’s a racist hate crime..
In saying that a few shots are out of focus as it`s not easy shooting into the dark or at low shutter speeds, but since you got it all for free, you can’t complain.. Plus if you don’t like my politics don’t download them or have them as a reminder they where taken by someone politics differ from yours. Where I shoot everyone regardless of their politics, funny that give my religion promotes free fucking speech while the snp zealots are taking yours Scotland and without free speech you`ll never be independent or free.
By the way visit my google page and leave a star or two like my photos they are free…
When politicians put their own aspirations ahead the country they represent it's time to call a spade a spade. Self-serving elected officials are doing nothing to move this country forward. Anyone who believes in "American Exceptionalism" should remember this when they go to the polls to vote.
Update: Someone on Reddit asked me what the difference was between Texas legislator Wendy Davis' filibuster of an abortion bill and Ted Cruz's soliloquy in the US Senate. My answer was that Davis' action was an attempt to stop what she thought was a restrictive abortion bill. Her filibuster had a goal: to talk until the Texas Senate's 30 day session ran out. On the other hand, Cruz had no intention of blocking the US Senate's bill. In fact, he looked forward to the vote. In addition, Davis' action was supported by her own party, while Cruz's infuriated fellow GOP Senators. The difference, as Dylan Byer, a writer at Politico stated was the difference between a filibuster with a purpose and grandstanding. He elaborates on the media's coverage of these two events:
Yes, the difference between filibustering and grandstanding plays a part. Equally important is the fact that Cruz's theatrics are frustrating members of his own party. But, part of the disparity in coverage is due to the fact that the mainstream media, generally speaking, don't admire Cruz the way they admired Davis — or rather, they admire him only insofar as he makes for tragicomic theater, whereas they admired her on the merits.

We are teaching two robot classes this fall, to help students create their own artistic robots. These classes are taking place at the Lycée Français in Sausalito (for 4th & 5th graders), and at Tam High School in Mill Valley (for adults and teens). During those classes, students learn how to build a robot from scratch, then make them move in a variety of ways, using a programmable Arduino board.
This photo set is about the custom robot kit we created for these classes at Tam Makers, our community makerspace. It includes a laser-cut chassis with motors and wheels, an Arduino Feather M0 with assorted electronics, an Arduino-powered remote control, as well as body parts and servo motors to make them move.
Our robot kit is similar to commercial products, but with a lot more features, at a lower cost. It was a lot of work, but we’re very happy with the final results, and our students seemed to really enjoy the class. We hope this will encourage other teachers, students and makers to create their own animated characters, for art and technology’s sake.
