Our 29th wedding anniversary today! I kinda fancied 1st of April, but too many people were worried it might be an April fool, so we settled for the 2nd!
I met Jenny when I was working at the RSPB Minsmere reserve (Oct 79 to Apr 82). She was living at nearby Saxmundham and was already very interested in wildlife.
Our wedding was a very protracted affair. 4 days, but all fun. We had a big party for our friends from all over in Suffolk followed by the actual wedding in London. In my community, weddings last three days. The day of the actual wedding, the big henna party for the women the day before. Note not hen party, but henna where they decorate parts of their body (usually feet and hands) with henna. The day after the wedding, there was a very big party for both sides of the family. I am afraid, my family dominated! Jenny is an only child, comes from a small family many of whom live in Canada where she is from. I come from a large family, many of whom live in London and we also have an 'extended family' network.
A few days after we got married, we moved to the Scottish Highlands and had 13 years there. I was the warden at the RSPB Insh Marshes reserve. We only left there because I was offered a secondment to Tanzania (my birthplace)

Owned by the Abbey Light Railway in Leeds is this 1917-built 2ft gauge petrol locomotive. It is unique in that it is the only remaining working example of the type.
These locomotives were originally built for work in the trenches of World War 1 France, where their light weight (1.5 tons) and short wheelbase made them ideal for working in the narrow trenches. Unfortunately the driving position made the driver very vulnerable to being shot at and so they tended to be more often used away from the front lines. Never-the-less the life expectancy of one of these engines in WW1 was only three weeks!

Sutton Hoo is the site of two early medieval cemeteries dating from the 6th to 7th centuries near Woodbridge, in Suffolk, England. Archaeologists have been excavating the area since 1938. One cemetery had an undisturbed ship burial with a wealth of Anglo-Saxon artefacts. Most of these objects are now held by the British Museum. Scholars believe Rædwald of East Anglia is the most likely person to have been buried in the ship. The site is important in establishing the history of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of East Anglia as well as illuminating the early Anglo-Saxon period which lacked historical documentation.
The site was first excavated by Basil Brown under the auspices of the landowner Edith Pretty, but when its significance became apparent, national experts took over. During the 1960s and 1980s, the wider area was explored by archaeologists and many other individual burials were revealed. The artefacts comprise what is considered the greatest treasure ever discovered in the United Kingdom. Those found in the burial chamber include a suite of metalwork dress fittings in gold and gems, a ceremonial helmet, a shield and sword, a lyre, and silver plate from the Byzantine Empire.

“One's own self is well hidden from one's own self; of all mines of treasure, one's own is the last to be dug up.”
Friedrich Nietzsche
If you owned a 3DS, there's a good chance you played a little game called Kid Icarus: Uprising.
One of the first games that painfully, and I do mean PAINFULLY, reminded us that the 3DS really should have had dual analog to begin with, the game was effectively a 3D shooter, with some sections where your character, Pit, would run on the ground.. yeah.. Pit can't really fly without assistance from Palutena, but that's a story for another time.
Pit, along with his emo Frienemy, Dark Pit (or if you're feeling angry, Pitoo) would eventually join forces to battle Medusa, the traditional main baddie of the Kid Icarus series. The pair have gone on to make appearances in subsequent Smash Brothers games... and I don't think much else.
As annoying as the game was to actually play, I finished it and rather enjoyed the experience, though I didn't get into the weapon customizing enough to make a run at it at higher difficulties.
Annnnnyyyway, Nintendo was, up to this point, very, very much in-house merch production and even then, it was only a few series (at least that I ever caught wind of here in Canada) only. Then one day, it's like all caution was thrown to the winds, and several toy producers, including Max Factory, were permitted.
Within the 2012 - 2014 time frame, several Figma were released.I wasn't really paying attention as I was getting prepared for my first child, and as life goes, things pass you by. The good news is that the Other M Varias Suit Samus and Skyward Sword link would see a reissue so I was able to recover from not getting it Round One.
Pit and Dark Pit, however, eluded me for years.. well, not really eluded but I wasn't exactly going to pay those prices.
So over the years, there have been a few ads popping up here and there for the two, but never as a pair or never with the box. It just so happened that while I was in Manitoba, I was able to procure a complete set with almost full box material for $150, missing predominately an insert from the Dark Pit box and for some odd reason, the paper instructions.
Not exactly a super stellar deal, but way cheaper than market value for these.
Pit and Dark Pit are effectively the same figure, with some differences because evil clone and all that jazz. Both sets come with the figure, two expressions (neutral, yelling) converting twin swords (separate/joined), an arrow, several hands including a dedicated arrow drawing hand, some AR Cards (used with the 3DS game) and the typical Figma stand. Pit comes with some Rings of Light effects (two for his right wrist, two for use on the arrow) and a Monoeye (trademark enemy) with its own stand, whereas Dark Pit comes with a staff/rife. Not sure what the difference in price was between the two, but if the same, then clearly Dark Pit got shafted. All weapons and effects can be shared between the two figures easily.. well as easily as one can get those stupid wrist rings to cooperate.
Both figures, unsurprisingly, share the same limitations. Being top heavy, both figures can be hard to balance without using the included stand, and I can imagine it's probably the nice wings that throw things off.
Al the typical Figma 1.0 articulation points are there, which includes ankles, knees, thighs, waist, midtorso, shoulders with some chest compress, elbows, wrist (thankfully with the peg embedded in the body) head swivel/pivot. and the points of articulation on the wings.
Surprisingly, the half skirt REALLY limits leg articulation, with neither leg being able to get anywhere even close to 90 degrees perpendicular with the body. The size of the hands and feet also limit the amount of posing options. Overall, you're not really going to be able get too many dynamic poses out of the pair.
So while the articulation is somewhat of a letdown, the sculpting, paintwork, and overall finish are quite good. Your typical Figma quality is met here to say the least, with I'd say exceptional work on the feather detailing of the wings. It's safe to say that neither Pit nor Dark Pit fit the standard Figma body, so the parts all look to be one of a kind, as it were, including the accurately oversized forearms and lower legs, as well as the proportionally sized head... of course, I suspect this is also Max Factory went ahead and made both Pit and Dark Pit.
Bringing out that extra bit of shine in this figure would be the exceptional paintwork and decal work on both figures. No real paint bleeding to complain about, with some truly great gold highights on the wrists, buckles, shoulder orb, crown, and the various bands on the body. No plastic flash issues to discuss, and assembly on both of mine were, again high quality as one would expect from a Figma release - nothing loose, nothing falling off or at weird angles, and solid joints that will hold their pose.
There is no doubt that these two embody the characters of which they are based off of. It's too bad about the limited articulation, and based on how long it was between the last two Icarus games, I'm betting we're not going to see a new version any time soon. Still, I guess being kind of unique pieces and being very late in the Figma 1.0 game has resulted in a product that, overall, can stand the test of time.
Just.. don't ask them to do any crazy poses.
P3700 (G-HURI) Hawker Hurricane Mk.XII owned and operated by the Historic Aircraft Collection Ltd.
The Hurricane was the RAF's first monoplane fighter, going into service before its famous partner in RAF service the Spitfire. The Hurricane was available in greater numbers for its finest hour in the Battle of Britain, where it played a crucial role in the defence of this country, shooting down more enemy aircraft than the Spitfire.
Hurricane Mk XIIa 5711 (G-HURI) was rebuilt in the 1980’s from the best original Hurricane parts sourced, in the previous 10 years, from all over Canada. It was given the identity of aircraft CCF c/n 72036 as that aircraft was the source of the airframe used in the rebuild. RCAF 5711 had been built in 1942 by the Canadian Car Foundry as part of their sixth production batch and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943. It is believed to have served with 123 Squadron at Debert before going to 127 and 129 Squadrons at Dartmouth and onto 1 Operational Training Unit at Bagotville.
It made its first post-restoration flight in 1989 painted in RAF markings as Z3781 coded XR-T of No 71 Eagle Sqdn. Historic Aircraft Collection acquired the Hurricane in 2002 and after undergoing an 18 month extensive programme of repairs and maintenance the Hurricane reappeared in an entirely new paint scheme for 2004, Z5140 coded HA-C of No 126 Sqdn the paint scheme that was worn by a Gloster-built Hurricane IIB, flown with 126 Squadron during the siege of Malta.

Longridge held there own against a strong Bamber Bridge side and were unlucky to go in at half time three nil down due to 2 poor passbacks that gifted brig goals. There was a lot to look forward to with this ridge side against higher opposition.
These photos were taken by me David Cameron on my own time at my own expense to which I alone pay to host these images here on flickr and to which I wasn’t paid like all the volunteers who help around the scheme, where each and everyone with their own life experiences, miseries, health problems, likes and dislikes. I could write a book on Nicola sturgeon and the hatred I have for this woman who attacks mine and “your free speech”, like her SNP zealots that when they hear another life point of view, run off and grass you you up to facebook in the hope they can get you band for your right to a different point of view, just to make sure their brown shirt fascist leader Isn’t criticised for her failing.
Now I listened to the people about their disgust at this SNP run Renfrewshire council’s theft of piles of wood, yet neglecting the endless trash and all their other garbage they have neglected resulting in the locals cleaning it all up by themselves. Then the council came mob handed along with the cops and stole what was supposed to be a Childs bonfire night. To which many slagged “stole a childs bonfire” statement I made like that wasn’t what happened, but who else was this nights event for if not for the kids. So it’s we who should scorn your comments and more so did you see the fireworks or witness the theft of the wood and all the coppers that your armchair opinion should matter….
So the snp zealots went to town over my first post and never gave me time to post the scoop shot of the night as It was late and It was bed time. Well I took a photo last night of the cops in a packed van were at least two of them were un and partially unmasked and not social distancing… The whole point was Nicola Sturgeon has imposed lockdown, band our freedom of movement, forced many into masks and she is using her police force to impose these acts of law on we the people whose common law rights are all being violatd. And here was a bunch of cops who the day before helped remove wood that doesn’t belong to them and could have had other uses planned for and they never gave the people the chance to move it. So that alone breach common law and fall under theft. And here where her jackboot thugs turning up in vans without masks flouting the very laws you are expected to follow… But no snp zealot outcry over that MAJOR GAFF as that would show descent in the snp ranks and god forbid we should criticise her.
I hereby state Nocola Sturgeon and her justice minister are racists who discriminate against my religion, my health problems and their brand new hate law is an attack on my 30 years Scottish religion and a crime of hate…. This folks is why I truly hate this woman I once voted for and even shot out in Johnston. But I did that as professional and said nothing of politics yet she enters into my Scottish region world and pissed all over it “the spirit of Scotland remembrance project” and that’s a racist hate crime..
In saying that a few shots are out of focus as it`s not easy shooting into the dark or at low shutter speeds, but since you got it all for free, you can’t complain.. Plus if you don’t like my politics don’t download them or have them as a reminder they where taken by someone politics differ from yours. Where I shoot everyone regardless of their politics, funny that give my religion promotes free fucking speech while the snp zealots are taking yours Scotland and without free speech you`ll never be independent or free.
By the way visit my google page and leave a star or two like my photos they are free…

Amazing artwork I own from talented artists. Many of them from recent Phat Quarter Swaps, some purchased. I see them while I stitch on the couch and they inspire me.

It needeth us to have knowing of the littleness of creatures and to hold as nought all-thing that is made, for to love and have God that is unmade. For this is the cause why we be not all in ease of heart and soul: that we seek here rest in those things that are so little, wherein is no rest, and know not our God that is All-mighty, All-wise, All-good. For He is the Very Rest. God willeth to be known, and it pleaseth Him that we rest in Him; for all that is beneath Him sufficeth not us. And this is the cause why that no soul is rested till it is made nought as to all things that are made. When it is willingly made nought, for love, to have Him that is all, then is it able to receive spiritual rest.
