Sutton Hoo is the site of two early medieval cemeteries dating from the 6th to 7th centuries near Woodbridge, in Suffolk, England. Archaeologists have been excavating the area since 1938. One cemetery had an undisturbed ship burial with a wealth of Anglo-Saxon artefacts. Most of these objects are now held by the British Museum. Scholars believe Rædwald of East Anglia is the most likely person to have been buried in the ship. The site is important in establishing the history of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of East Anglia as well as illuminating the early Anglo-Saxon period which lacked historical documentation.
The site was first excavated by Basil Brown under the auspices of the landowner Edith Pretty, but when its significance became apparent, national experts took over. During the 1960s and 1980s, the wider area was explored by archaeologists and many other individual burials were revealed. The artefacts comprise what is considered the greatest treasure ever discovered in the United Kingdom. Those found in the burial chamber include a suite of metalwork dress fittings in gold and gems, a ceremonial helmet, a shield and sword, a lyre, and silver plate from the Byzantine Empire.

Ipswich Pigs Gone Wild 2016 - The biggest mass participation art event in Suffolk!
The must-see event of the summer is here! From Monday 27th June, the streets of Ipswich will be taken over by stunning pig sculptures as part of the highly anticipated Pigs Gone Wild interactive art trail.
St Elizabeth Hospice has teamed up with Wild in Art to stage Suffolk’s biggest art spectacular -Pigs Gone Wild.
The sculpture trail features 39 larger-than-life pig sculptures which have been beautifully designed by artists from East Anglia and beyond, plus 30 junior sculptures decorated just as creatively by schools and community groups and displayed in clusters around the town.
From 27th June until 2nd September, you will be able to follow the trail, collect points with our Pigs Gone Wild app and to try to see as many of the sculptures as possible.
Make sure you take selfies with them and tweet them to @pigsgonewild16 or post them to the Pigs Gone Wild Facebook page.
After you have enjoyed Pigs Gone Wild during its 10-week extravaganza, the large pig sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for St Elizabeth Hospice.
Before they go to auction, you can say goodbye to them at the Ta Ta Trotters event at Ipswich Town Hall on 10th and 11th September and get one final selfie with your favourite sculpture!

P3700 (G-HURI) Hawker Hurricane Mk.XII owned and operated by the Historic Aircraft Collection Ltd.
The Hurricane was the RAF's first monoplane fighter, going into service before its famous partner in RAF service the Spitfire. The Hurricane was available in greater numbers for its finest hour in the Battle of Britain, where it played a crucial role in the defence of this country, shooting down more enemy aircraft than the Spitfire.
Hurricane Mk XIIa 5711 (G-HURI) was rebuilt in the 1980’s from the best original Hurricane parts sourced, in the previous 10 years, from all over Canada. It was given the identity of aircraft CCF c/n 72036 as that aircraft was the source of the airframe used in the rebuild. RCAF 5711 had been built in 1942 by the Canadian Car Foundry as part of their sixth production batch and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943. It is believed to have served with 123 Squadron at Debert before going to 127 and 129 Squadrons at Dartmouth and onto 1 Operational Training Unit at Bagotville.
It made its first post-restoration flight in 1989 painted in RAF markings as Z3781 coded XR-T of No 71 Eagle Sqdn. Historic Aircraft Collection acquired the Hurricane in 2002 and after undergoing an 18 month extensive programme of repairs and maintenance the Hurricane reappeared in an entirely new paint scheme for 2004, Z5140 coded HA-C of No 126 Sqdn the paint scheme that was worn by a Gloster-built Hurricane IIB, flown with 126 Squadron during the siege of Malta.
In September 2005 Hurricane Z5140 became the first Hurricane to return to the Mediterranean island of Malta since the Second World War. It flew there together with Spitfire BM597 as part of the Merlins Over Malta project. In August 2012 she flew to Moscow to display in their centenary airshow.
For the 75th anniversary in 2015 of the Battle of Britain and with the support of the Polish Embassy G-HURI has been repainted in the RAF markings as P3700 a Hurricane Mk1, coded RF-E of No 303 (Polish) Sqdn. P3700 was abandoned by Sgt Kazimierz Wunsche over Poynings, Kent on 9th September 1940 after sustaining damage from a Bf 109 during combat over Beachy Head.
Hurricane Mk XIIa G-HURI is on permanent display in Hangar 3 at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How much does fresh killed turkey cost?
A: $2.19 per pound live weight.
Q: What is live weight?
A: This means the turkey is live, weighed and processed fresh for you.
Q: How long can I wait before I order?
A: It is recommended that you place your order as soon as possible, since we can run out of specific sizes as it gets closer to the holiday.
Q: What is the last day I can order?
A: One week before the holiday.
Q: What size turkey do I need?
A: It is recommended that you get 1 lb per person if you do not want leftovers. If you want left overs, it is suggested 1 - 1/2 lb per person. The exceptions are that a 10 -12 lb turkey is only recommended for a maximum of 5 - 6 people and a 24 - 29 lb turkey will yield more than a larger turkey when this formula is used.
Q: What is the range of sizes available?
A: Turkeys are available from as small as 10 lbs to as large as 40 lbs. Orders are taken in 2 lbs increments, for example, 10 - 12 lbs, 16 - 18 lbs or 22 - 24 lbs.
Q: Why will a 24 - 28 lb turkey yield more than a larger turkey?
A: Because all turkeys below 28 lbs are hens (Female Turkeys). Hens have more Breast Meat than their comparable male counterpart. Therefore the yield is greatly improved.
Q: Doesn't Fresh Killed have a game flavor in the meat?
A: Yes, it is true that fresh killed will have a chewy, gamely texture when cooked within 24 hours of being processed. It is recommended that a bird tenderize (hang) for a minimum of 1 day before cooking it. It is also suggested that you wait 2 - 4 days to cook a bird after it is processed if you want a totally soft, succulent piece of meat.
Q: What is better, a Hen or a Tom?
A: Since this company believes hens are the best yield, we will only have hens below 28 lbs. It is almost impossible to have a hen above 30 lbs, so anything above 30 lbs will be a tom. It should be noted that toms share the same advantage of having a large full breast over 30 lbs.
Q: What are your store hours?
A: The Farm/Retail store is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, throughout the year.
Q: Can I get a chilled turkey?
A: Yes, if you preorder, you can ask for it to be chilled and we will have it chilled when you pick it up.
Q: When should I pick up my turkey?
A: We recommend early in the week since fresh killed turkey does require a minimum of two (2) days to naturally tenderize. However, if you do not have room in your refrigerator to store it, we can do it for you. Just ask to have it processed earlier. Turkey can be picked up as early as Sunday, and are guaranteed to be good on thanksgiving day.
Q: When is the store the least crowded?
A: Generally, throughout the year, customers are serviced quickly during the week with some delays on the weekends. During holiday periods, with extended hours, there is virtually no wait after 6 PM, with Monday night being the best.
Q: Can I call and make changes to my order that week?
A: NO!! If you need to change something that week please just come in and tell us the change in person even at the time of sale. You can even change sizes and pickup day in person the day you want it. All changes will be honored that week, however it may be impossible to reach us by telephone, as telphone lines are congested that week.
Q: How do I cook a turkey?
A: See our cooking instructions on this site
Q: How do I store a turkey?
A: It is strongly recommended that you maintain an environment under 35 degree until the bird is cooked.
Q: How big of a turkey will fit in a conventional 30" oven?
A: Up to 30 lbs.
Q: Are your turkeys organic?
A: NO!! Our turkeys are all natural meaning fresh killed, free range, steroid free and preservative free. This is approximately one level down from organic.
Q: What is the range of sizes available in turkeys?
A: Turkeys range begtween 10 lbs and 40 lbs. Orders are taken with a 2 lb variable, for example, 10 - 12 lbs, 18 - 20 lbs and 24 - 26 lbs. We can circle a preferred size.
A THIRTY something divorcee lays herself bare in a new one-woman play based on her own experiences. Melanie Sherwood presents the World Premiere of Confessions & Obsessions of a Thirty Something Divorcee at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August.
The funny and poignant play is seen through the eyes of Xara Fox as she prepares to attend the wedding of an ex-boyfriend. The character reflects on her life and the choices she's made and during her physical transformation from 'hungover' to 'hot' she reveals the turmoil and confusion between who she really is and the face she presents to the world. Exploring themes such as relationships, divorce, ageing, vanity, children and the deafening tick-tock of her biological clock, we follow her on a journey of self-discovery and ultimately self-acceptance.
The writer made the difficult decision to end her own marriage four years ago and still battles with the idea of being a failure and the stigma of being a 'divorcee'. After losing the essence of herself within her marriage, she compiled an intimate journal of her thoughts and feelings to help her cope with the break-up. In the process, she rediscovered herself and her passion for theatre. These personal diary entries ultimately became the inspiration for her revealing new play.
An Australian, now based in Edinburgh, Melanie has made several television appearances most notably in Aussie soap Neighbours where she worked alongside Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) and Anne Charleston (Madge Bishop). Equally at home on the stage, she has performed various leading roles in plays and musicals and most recently appeared as Florinda in Into The Woods. Other characters include the title role in Laura, the Crazy Girl in Yerma, and Ado Annie in Oklahoma . She has also performed in her own 60s tribute show throughout Australia and in Bali Indonesia where a guitar with her signature is displayed in the Hard Rock Hotel Resort.
Confessions & Obsessions of a Thirty Something Divorcee is for anyone who has ever questioned their life path and the choices they have made.

Owned from 2007 to 2013, this was my sister's second car and replacement for the blue Polo. This picture was taken just after it was picked up from the dealer. I really liked this car as it had huge amounts of torque and went very well. It wasn't the most reliable car though, with the front suspension bushes causing plenty of issues.

The Nemours Estate is a 300-acre country estate with jardin à la française formal gardens and a French neoclassical mansion in Wilmington, Delaware. Built to resemble a French château, its 105 rooms on five floors occupy nearly 47,000 sq ft. It shares the grounds at 1600 Rockland Road with the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, and both are owned by the Nemours Foundation.
Nemours was created by Alfred I. du Pont in 1909–10 as a gift for his second wife, Alicia. It was named for the north-central French town of Nemours, which was affiliated with his great-great-grandfather, Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours. Carrère and Hastings designed the mansion, which is in the Louis XVI style of French architecture.
The house contains rare 18th-century French furniture and an eclectic collection of notable antiques, works of art and tapestries. Artworks range from 16th-century religious works to paintings by the European masters to early works by Americans Frederic Remington and Sidney Lawrence.
Of particular interest is a rare Louis XVI musical clock, circa 1785, by David Roentgen and Peter Kinzing, which plays four tunes on a dulcimer and pipe organ. Another clock at the mansion with a connection to French royalty is one made for Marie Antoinette, which she never received.
The mansion also has a chair from the 1937 coronation of King George VI, an event which was attended by Alfred I. du Pont's third wife Jessie, and a chair from Independence Hall. Alfred I. du Pont's own portrait is also in the mansion.
The estate has the most developed and largest jardin à la française (French formal garden)-style landscape park and collection of individual gardens in North America. The design is patterned after the gardens of Versailles surrounding the Petit Trianon at the Château de Versailles. Their central axis extends ⅓ of a mile from the mansion facade, paralleling the main avenue leading to the house. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with plantings, fountains, pools, a carillon tower, statuary, and a pavilion surrounded by naturalized woodlands.
The named features include:
The Boxwood Garden – French parterre garden with boxwood edging and a central faun fountain.
The Colonnade (1926) – memorial to Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours and his son Eleuthère Irénée du Pont, designed by Thomas Hastings.
The Maze Garden – a maze garden with main hedges of Western Arborvitae 'Spring Grove', inner hedges of Japanese Barberry 'Crimson Pygmy', and central statue of Achievement, by Henri Crenier, atop a base with images of Triton and Neptune's face.
The Reflecting Pool (1 acre) – 40 feet in diameter, with 157 jets, backed by Japanese cryptomeria, pink flowering horse chestnut, and pin oaks.
The Sunken Gardens – designed by Alfred Victor du Pont and Gabriel Masséna. Features large lake, grottoes, and 1930 statue by Charles-Marie Sarrabezolles (1888–1971). A. V. du Pont (1900–1970) was the only son of the owner and an architect trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
The Temple of Love – in classical style, with life-sized statue of Diana (1780) by Jean-Antoine Houdon.
The Nemours mansion and gardens reopened its gates on May 1, 2008, after closing in 2005 for a 3-year, $39 million renovation. The work, commissioned by the Nemours Foundation, was performed by world-class conservators, artisans and craftspeople who refurbished furniture, fabrics, tapestries, interior finishes, paintings, and sculptures. The comprehensive reconstruction included replacing the entire electrical system, draining and repairing the 800,000-gallon reflecting pool, and landscape restoration of the extensive formal gardens plantings, constructed design elements, and statuary.

With the electric revolution fully underway at Warrington's Own Buses, large withdrawals of the diesel fleet have taken place over the last couple of months. Still in service at the moment is 250, a 2007 Volvo B7RLE with Wright Eclipse Urban bodywork which carries the base livery of it's former operator Lothian with Warrington logos. After hearing it was on 'The Pops' I nipped out to attempt a quick night shot of this vehicle as you never know when the last time you see it will be.
Owned both for sometime, to me, D300 plus MB-D10 grip is a little bit larger than D2X, not an issue for some industry though, but cheaper and superior in nearly every other aspect.
