Integration signal to noise reduction (SNR) reinforces locally similar elements of the immobile subject, sharpening them, while weakening dissimilar background elements (e.g. elements out of register).

This modified Harris Shutter Effect image generates colored "ghosts" on a black background. Things that move and other registration differences between three more-or-less sequential photos are emphasized while static features turn black. Imperfect registration can leave a faint outline of background details.
Three frames were registered for maximal congruity at the selected person while others and a bus passed by. A subtractive filter Harris shutter effect was applied for this result.

This composite is from a sequence of photos taken with a mostly stationary camera and moving subjects. Background registered images were then combined for a subtractive filter Harris shutter effect (HSE).

This modified Harris Shutter Effect image generates colored "ghosts" on a black background. Displaced background elements (versus the frame registered subject) are emphasized while indistinguishable features turn black.

New Original Painting that I did last night! I am anticipating this season soooo much. Autumn is very much welcome in my home :)
Bluesky Iron Photographer suggests photos containing;
1- something you wear on your head (glasses)
2- a favorite article of clothing (20 year old rain coat)
3- black & white
Why don't you wear your new rain coat? It isn't scuffed or permanently stained and you helped pick it out!
In Iron Photographer fashion I imagined an image requiring the camera to be held uncomfortably far behind my head, and did not have the luxury of framing through a linked cell phone screen. The failure rate was very high.
Processing note: This camera needs noise reduction. I used DXO prime. Contrast enhanced with DXO filmpack (silvermax preset) and a homemade Daidoish preset (exposure, contrast, and clear-view increased; blacks increased and whites decreased in curves to clip blacks and highlights).
Daido-ish processing was applied to a thin JPG from an old camera.

The Harris shutter effect combines different color layers from three successive shots to give colored ghosts to moving elements. One of these frames can be seen here as a normal image.
Hampton's battery fires at Portstown park.
The expanding cloud of smoke gives an interesting effect. Movement of the crew and branches lends additional artifacts. I tried this hand-held, and had to do a lot of work to get frames this close to registry. (One layer was severely rotated) If you are inspired to give it a try, use a tripod.
Snow and ice made for lots of puddles. This sprayful splash brought to mind The Teardrop Explodes

美しい脚や、きれいな足は、いくらでも存在するが、その表現となるとステレオタイプである。
例えば、雑誌vogueのファッション写真を見るといい。お粗末なものばかりで、見るに堪えない。私は、ああいったプロ写真家の存在を苦々しく思うのである。そしてまた、現代のマスコミ雑誌の粗製乱造を、苦々しく思う。
カメラによる画像作品は、被写体に依存するので、美しい被写体があれば、あとは機械的作業であり、小学生がスマホで撮っても、美は美である。手作業の絵画とは、全然違う代物であって、銀座の歩行者が自撮りするのと変わりはない。
20th century cinema meets 18th century art.
Iron Photographer 228 has me wondering about double exposures again. These experiments with the XZ-1's in camera double exposure mode require framing proximate subjects, within 60 seconds, rather than waiting to combine two ideal images. I did discover that the camera allows one to change from normal to macro mode during this time.
IP 228 asks for:
1 - a face (a shirt covered with 1950's era 3D movie goers)
2 - your usual coffee/tea cup (showing Hokusai's "The Great Wave")
3 - double exposure (performed in-camera)
How to: The shirt was draped over the edge of a table, allowing the foreground to be in focus while the background was far enough to dreamily dissolve.
The old phone poles in Dinkytown, long used for stapled advertisements, are being replaced with newer ones lacking this stapled character. Most have recently been denuded of paper flyers and are less commonly replaced as people move towards all surface mounting with tape.
Processing note: This camera needs noise reduction. I used DXO prime.
