Utata's weekend project "vibrant color" (14-27 Jan 2017) sent me looking through Harris Shutter Effect images, where I discovered this one had been prepared but not made public. Thus it became my "archival" submission for the project.

Technical Trivia :
The Harris shutter effect, done digitally, combines color layers from three different photographs. Things that move between exposures appear as colored ghosts. Colors were emphasized by converting each image to black and white before combining them.
- AGFA APX 25 preset (DXO filmpack)
- Hand-held images were registered (PictureWindow Pro 5.0)
- Straightened and cropped (Lightroom)

I painted this first version to show Sue's love for English romantic artist John Piper...some elements of his work I detect in her own. I painted this from a snapshot posted on Julia Kay's Portrait Party, I hope to do a better version on canvas at some point.
Sue's "Jinn 'n Tonic's " photostream is a real delight. Although one can clearly see the influence of Piper, Hitchens and perhaps Hodgkin, these are not pastiches but really good works in their own right.
I look forward to seeing more. It is rare to find such consistently good fine art of this type on Flickr and I'm sure this work deserves attention. A real feel for places and their abstract qualities."
Just posting this eleven years late. I was cleaning some rediscovered XD cards and ran across things long forgotten.
I likely took this image with Phillip Chee's Thursday walk in mind but did not know how to make a low contrast image look as I wanted (at the time).

This image reminded me of the nebulously defined aesthetic of Felt Life before its founder and several admins abandoned the group and, in many cases, Flickr. There are now several hundred thousand images dumped into the pool. But if you head back to circa 2007 images you can have a glimpse of what was intended.

I accidentally turned off RAW and only collected JPG. This was enhanced with Topaz Restyle.

I knew that the shape of a snowflake depends upon the conditions when it formed but, until a recent walk in falling snow, had not bothered to appreciate the differences at a microscopic level. I observed individual flakes depositing on my glove then began to notice some caught the light differently. Examination with a camera showed these were hexagonal plates.
Julia looks a little stern in this one, but I tried to use various washed and random marks working against the outlines. No masking fluid (unlike Anne's portrait). I did a version in pink which was just of the face, I may post thgis at some point. I work on four or five pictures at onnce otherwise it is a matter of watching the paint dry. The one thing with watercolour is why does it never look as good dry as it does wet? There were stages when this was wet when the face almost came off the page!

This composition is similar to one I posted last year. The purpose is to find a color image with crepuscular rays that is appealing.
It was necessary to use Restyle to enhance contrast in the sunbeams. The "fire dipped waves" preset, applied at 50% normal blending mode, also brightened the leaves near the sun for a pleasing effect. Others tended to darken the leaves for harsh contrast or wash out the image too much.
Seen during a walk through an Atchison, KS alleyway. Modern construction codes would not allow building to the edge of the roadway.

Camera Details:
1980-s era QL17-GIII with stuck shutter and stuck timer serviced by Alex Bonarski (rangefindercamera on ebay). Within three weeks he had fully CLAed (including timer cleaning and battery update) , replaced a defective lens element (for which he had spares to sell) and returned the camera with a one year warranty. Highly recommended!

美脚,美しい脚,Fine Art,Kichijoji Sakuramakoto: 上から撮ったもので、ある種のバランスが取れていない。しかし、短く太い脚と感じさせながらも、親しみのある脚の作品と言えるだろう。
