Two hours later I pulled the masking paper and tape. After a day or so of curing, I'll lightly scuff the shiny areas and apply the clear coat, then buff it out.

A mixture of paper masks, cut from a plan found on the net and scaled to 1/48 before printing out, and masking tape. I tried to pull the edges of the tape proud very slightly, to emulate the softer edge of the paper masks. Tape was used on the trickier curved part of the model where getting a paper mask to lay flat was tricky.

The tape worked 'ok', but didn't have as nice an edge as achieved with the paper masks. Next time I'll work harder getting paper masks to fit around curves.

The real aircraft didn't actually have soft edges between the colours, it was a hard edge colour scheme. I just prefer the look. The black underside has a hard edge to it though.
