Teens attended a workshop that took on a fascinating Egyptian theme with Cobra shapes, pyramid masks, and other Egyptian designs.
Here are more faces in the clouds. See them? I see a face in the top layer of clouds and a face in the bottom layer. It reminds me of the comedy and tragedy masks. Like the top one is reflected in the bottom one. Amazing stuff. I've never seen so many forms, especially of faces, in the clouds before. Seen during our time in Natal, Brazil.

Beaded moonlight. In Tabwa arts, the ornamental triangular pattern is called balamwezi the rising of the new moon. The motif positions the moon at the apex, between the opposing poles of the triangle's base. Here, the prominent use of white beads is associated with the moon and with heightened awareness attained through spirit possession.
White beads typically ornament the beaded headgear nkaka worn by Tabwa and Luba ritual specialists who, during spirit possession, can see into the other world. Beaded masks, a recent art form among eastern Luba and Tabwa, are similarly ornamented.
We left when people came in for the danceclass, and found this outside. A van with loud music, camouflaged by a cloud of weed smoke, and covered in masking tape-art. I love it that people can just do this here.
Catching up with uploads. Friday, a week ago...
Another shot of pumpkin in mask.
I like this, because it's my first foray into "whiteout backdropping", for want of a better phrase.
It's a disturbing subject and I'll admit, entirely odd.
Fairly quiet day with no major meetups of the costumed models going on. I started the day in San Marco, watching the world go by - there were some nice models but nothing like Salute. I wandered over to San Zaccaria - it was definitely a good place to find costumed models hanging out.
I took these photos on 9 February 2018.
This is a portrait of my friend Nikki, she used to collect masks and this is the start of her collection!
