My wife cooked turkey, stuffing/dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green bean casserole. It was just like Thanksgiving in Augus.

Outstanding. This was an appetizer, but add a few broccoli spears and I'd call it dinner.

A portion of the 3 train loads of dehydrated food headed to the Tarahumara people in the Copper Canyon, who were starving because of drought and failed crops.

They received rice, beans, protein, mashed potatoes and vegetables.

This year didn’t feel like Thanksgiving. Not because I was alone...I have been celebrating alone for the last few years. I don’t mind it. It just didn’t feel “happy”. Probably a mixture of how crappy this year has been, and also the fact that today was so warm and blah. I started getting hot while making dinner and had to turn a fan on and open the windows....just not right on Thanksgiving.

I still made a feast fit for a king, though...all from the comfort of my little room.

A Gardein turkey roast, which I simply thawed and deep fried the heck out of. Macaroni and cheese. Mashed potatoes. “Green bean casserole” (just a can of green beans I had, some condensed cauliflower soup, topped with some crunchy fried onions). Some corn. Yams with marshmallows. Hawaiian sweet rolls. Stuffing made with vegan sausage (which I also just deep fried. Don’t judge me...it’s fast, easy and tastes good). Knorr vegetable spinach dip with Ritz crackers (I always have to have that). Cranberry sauce....and sparkling apple/grape juice.

I had “Planes Trains and Automobiles” playing in the background while I made dinner, then popped on “Dutch” while I had my feast.

It could have been been worse, I suppose.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable day, or at the very least, meal.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

Salad and potatoes from Thanksgiving at my folks' house.

This lunch, though not terribly pretty, and definitely not conventional bento-fare, was perfectly homey & delicious to eat on this rainy grey day here in my little corner of the planet.

It consists of leftovers from the dinner I made for my mother and her sweetie last night: a boiled New England dinner of corned beef brisket, carrots, parsnips, little pearl onions, and green cabbage. Then a little Champ on the side (a traditional and yummy Irish take on mashed potatoes), and a lovely sauce of sour cream, dijon mustard, lots of horseradish, and a bit of lemon juice.

It would be perfect to take anywhere with a microwave; it warmed up perfectly. Mmm!

Leftovers from Thanksgiving make the BEST burritos. Forget turkey sandwiches, try this!

Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and a little Asadero cheese in these burritos.

The best meatloaf I've cooked or ate. Made from beef from a friend's Highland cattle. Served with mashed potatoes with brown gravy and Summer Crisp corn with chili powder.

Fried chicken with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and tasso sauce.

Mashed Potatoes, 'nuff said.

sometime later, and not much later, i fell asleep, waking up a little while after because i had drooled on my arm and the drool had become cold.

Mashed potatos are hard to make when you mash them with a small fork and not a hand mixer or a masher

today's menu at M's kitchen

*Rosemary-Roasted salmon

*Salad with balsamic vinaigrette(home-made)

*mashed potatoes(red potatoes, cream cheese, butter, milk, green onion, salt&pepper)

*peas (store-bought)

The sauce is quite rich but also full of mushrooms and onions. And tastes SO good over the meat and potatoes.
