Trying my hand at cooking.
Pan seared albacore tuna rolled in panko, garlic, lemon zest, black pepper, and paprika. Drizzled in a mix of chipotle sauce, sesame oil and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Side of mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.
We made our 2nd trip to Blue Tractor and the broccoli served with the meatloaf was very good. It doesn't look like much, but it had a nice char, good color, was well-seasoned,and both the tops and the peeled stems were used. Pride in something this basic is nice to see. My lunch companion liked the meatloaf (I thought it was over-embellished). The mashers were a miss. I thought the burger sliders were tasty and the market salad was perfect (sunflower sprouts, cherry tomatoes, cukes, julienne carrots). I'm very hopeful about BT.
The (vegetarian) sausage and mash at this Nicholson's pub. A bit disappointing really: the mash tastes synthetic and the gravy is too runny. Sausages were nice, though. At The Dog and Duck, Bateman Street.
My sister and I drove to Tahoe for the afternoon where we met up with my mother and father, my mother's sister and bother and their spouses. It's nice to have an abundant meal without all the cooking and cleaning... and the boyz will be happily eating prime rib trimmings for weeks.

The last time I made mashed potatoes, I fried the skins in oil in a saucepan, added some spices, and ate them like chips. It was pretty good.

Ham, mashed potates and gravy, and green beans.
I went to my brothers' for Christmas, but the lighting there was horrible. There was a dingy globe light in the middle of the kitchen ceiling and I couldn't photograph anything without casting a shadow on the subject. I had to struggle to get this one without a shadow.
Classic comfort food. Potatoes mashed with butter only, pot gravy and lightly toasted multigrain bread.
We'll have some with a bit of pepper.
